The thing about cyborg shooting the missile at Superman was set up by the mother box controlled A.I who was “scared” of Superman coming back to life. (They said that earlier before they revived him.) And cyborg was made from the mother box so I think it was implying that the mother box instinctively shot the missile at Superman. Still stupid, but it does have an explanation.

As the words of Scott "As a Cinephile, and- sorry wrong kind of phile- well one of those. I think I know independent film and Paddington 2 is an independent film"
Both Paddington movies were incredible. When I first saw them I was (understandably) expecting a bunch of Smurfs/Alvin/Trolls type pop culture and toilet humor. But I was pleasantly surprised by how timeless and whimsical the humor and charm was. I'm also glad you three enjoyed it. I was expecting all of you to hate it given how overly cynical you all have been towards children's movies in past reviews. I would love to see more kids movies like this, with a lot of heart, whimsy and actual effort put into impressive looking shots and story elements rather then overusing dated pop culture references, trendy music and fart jokes. Sadly, these movies don't always do as well at the box office (Fantastic Mr. Fox is another example) so I was shocked both Paddingtons actually made several times it's budget.
Interesting to note, Zack Snyder has tried for years to produce a movie of Ayn Rand's "The Fountainhead", and there are some vague similarities between the mistrust of Superman by the weaker mortals in BvS. So either the conservatives who like Zack Snyder know about that (though Armand White or any of his ilk give me the impression they're not quite literate in the background of filmmakers), or they just get the impression from his other choices of movies to direct, i.e. 300 (originally written by Frank Miller as an Islamophobic allegory), or Watchmen which was written by Alan Moore as a deconstruction of superheroes by portraying them as objectivists. For both of those adaptations (and I'm mostly just paraphrasing from Moviebob here (the liberal equivalent to Armand White)), they are very direct adaptations without much understanding of the subtext behind the stories, or even possibly a misinterpretation of the messages. The whole morally grey superhero thing kind of carries over into his DC movies, which is why he drew heavily from the dystopian "The Dark Knight Returns" for BvS. Even Adam said in his Sucker Punch review that it seems like Zack is much better when he's adapting someone else's story, and the two previously mentioned were based on mostly self-contained story arcs of their respective comic series. Man of Steel was basically an original script written by Zack and David S. Goyer (the latter also seen as kind of a hack), and being the director Zack did have some influence on the script for subsequent films (written by Goyer and the Chris Terrio (the latter of whom wrote Rise of Skywalker)).
@@willh5901 Half the characters are just stereotypes of black people, asians, gay people etc..Matt Lucas straight-up said a lot of their stuff from that time period was bigoted and they'd never do something like it now.
They probably correct this later in the episode but I wanna point out the actor who was originally gonna play Paddington was actually Colin Firth, not Hugh Grant
Would like to mention that Justice League was actually shot in 4:3 to fill up an IMAX screen, it wasn't without purpose and undoubtedly would've been cropped for a theatrical release, but given that this was Snyder's untouched vision, he released it as is rather than cropping it.
So he designed his film to be on an imax screen while also dividing it into 8 parts to be better enjoyed at home through streaming? That was his untouched vision, to handicap the viewing experience for both viewing platforms? Sounds like some coping.
@@floppydysk Obviously the 8 part thing was after the fact, but the film would've been cropped for a theatrical release while maintaining the 4:3 ratio in IMAX theaters.
At first “We live in a society” was purely just to mock the Joker or at least the fans who took what he said in TDK as gospel, but it became unironic a while back.

Regarding what they said around 35:30 I'm someone who loves both indie/arthouse movies and Snyder's work. My favorite movies from 2016 were Nocturnal animals, the witch, the lobster, la la land, arrival and bvs ultimate cut. My favorite movies that I've seen so far this year are the snyder cut, Judas and the Black Messiah and Another Round. I like Snyder' because of the tone and style of his movies. I like how seriously he takes these characters as opposed to marvel where everything is portrayed as a joke. I like how his characters have real struggles while also being portrayed as larger than life gods. The dialog for the most part doesn't really both me, I mean its not like tarantino level dialog but I don't think its horrible. Also I personally feel that his dc movies do have several interesting thing going on thematically that many seem to ignore. Most of all I like how a director with a unique tone/style is able to work on major superhero movies, it makes them stand out in a way . His dc movies are my favorite things that he's done but I also think that 300, dawn of the dead and legend of the guardians are solid entertainment and watchmen of course is amazing. Are his movies perfect, of course not but they are way more interesting and for me entertaining/emotional than most of the blockbusters hollywood puts out these days
I love all of those movies too! I agree with you 100% I also just like how powerful the characters feel the Marvel characters never really feel powerful to me
Nah I disagree with the notion that Batman is useless in this movie. He did a lot 1) He brought together the whole team 2) He provides a base for the team to plan and brainstorm together 3) He transports the team to Steppenwolf’s base 4) He penetrates the base’s shield so the justice league can enter 5) He helps clear the way for getting the team to Steppenwolf’s exact location and saves WW and Flash from parademons multiple times I’d say Batman had a pretty important role in the movie imo
I'm still confused as to why Warner Bros. didn't give Batman, The Flash, Cyborg, and Aquaman their own movies before Justice League. Ironically, they could've made more money with that strategy.
I’m inclined to believe that zack synder or some higher up suggested they have a justice league movie where the justice league fail and then reset with flashpoint to then lead to single movies, I may be giving too much credit though and they just wanted to play catch up
@@adama.7735 I can agree to a certain extent. I would introduce Batman into this universe with his own movie, but without showing the death of his parents.
It’s been fascinating how the DC fan base has clinged onto not even DC or its cinematic movie potential but just their fanaticism for Synder. It’s almost disturbing how he’s the Center of most people’s universe in a way marvel movies havent really been able to do for their own directors even if they’re much more respected critically. I wouldn’t be surprised if someone makes a documentary movie on this whole saga surrounding Justice league and Synder’s Career in general
It's a bit of speculation but based on the way some people talk I think this diehard fanbase that has formed around the snyder dc movies comes from a strong hatred of the MCU and wanting something to oppose it. There are a lot of comments that talk about how dark and mature the movies are and they always feel the need to bring up how immature and stupid marvel movies are in the same breath. That being said as a DC fan I find it super weird because most of these movies have been such awful portrayals of characters I really like so I'm specifically not a fan of them for that reason. Seeing people praise man of steel as a definitive superman adaption has me scratching my head and wondering how many of these people are real fans of the source material for DC.
I have JUST realised waching this now, after seeing Adam's thoughts on it and Ralph's and EVERYTHING, that I actually am in the same position as Adam.. I've been so exposed to these bois thoughts as well as everything else regarding Justice League that I completely forgot I never actually saw it... That's how much I'm invested in the DCU..
They should have made a movie solely to bring back superman, then make a second Superman movie and call it “Man of Tomorrow”. He uses the black suit throughout the entire movie until the end, where he opens his coat and shirt to reveal the classic suit, like in justice league. Then make the solo movies for other characters, THEN release Justice League. But for what we got, I really liked the Snyder Cut. Yeah, it's not a great movie, but I still enjoy it due to the emotional moments and character development.
Emotional moments? Like the shot with an empty seat where Cyborg's science dad should have been, but he was too busy to make it to the game? It's like something out of a parody.
@@Fredomato I mean the things like the flash time travel scene, and yeah, that moment with cyborg's dad too. Just because it's cliche doesn't mean it doesn't work as a moment. Also, Martian Manhunter's appearance made my dad really happy, who was watching the movie with me. He's a big fan of DC, and seeing him freak out with pure excitement when John showed up made me happy too.
Also the joker saying “We live in a society” doesn’t even make any sense, they’re in a post apocalyptic wasteland. What society?
That's a good point.
Given how that line was improvised and didn't end up in the film, I'm wondering if Snyder felt the same as you.

Not really. There is so much filler and the core story is pretty lightweight (and filled with plot holes). He should just be a decent filmmaker and tell a coherent story in a normal timeframe, like everyone else.

And I even watched it in black and white (the intended experience and does make it slightly better because the effects probably look like shit otherwise) and it was still awful
Not snydie cut being above Barry Lyndon on the IMDB top 250 🙈 nobody tell Ralph

The Snyder Cut is above In the Mood for Love and The 400 Blows, I don't understand that list at all.
@@comradejosephstalinoftheus8698 IMDB is for film bros. Very few foreign films or films before the 80s make the top 250. It's mostly superhero shit and Tarantino.
@@comradejosephstalinoftheus8698 It’s going to be out of the top 250 eventually. A lot of new movies get into the top 250 on IMDb, only to drop out as more votes come in.
It's just the way the algorithm they use works. A lot of DC fans have rated it a 10/10 so it got into the Top 250. Votes go down with time so pretty soon it's gonna be out.
And there's tons of great movies on that list, just because there's a few superhero movies and Tarantino doesn't mean it's useless. Lots of old movies too. I just don't like to see people generalize.

When someone asks me about my favorite movies I always recommend Paddington. Glad you guys watched them.
I remember my mom and I watched Joker the previous day and then watched Paddington 2, we went from two cynics discussing ‘society’ to a giddy kid and mom enjoying a delightful film for what it was, it was incredibly refreshing. Not that Joker wasn’t good in its own right though

Same here. Heard how bad the Joss Wheadon version so I avoided that like the plague.
I'm pretty sure Jared Leto added "we live in a society" himself.
I think the whole "Jared Leto ad-libbed we live in a society" thing is marketing bullshit, like Zach Snyder claiming he never saw the theatrical cut. They wanted the meme in the trailers to get viral media attention.
Surprised Adum didn't remember The Fanatic for most try-hard. There's an Adum and Pals of it and everything.

It always feels weird to hear their thoughts on movies like zsjl because I love superhero films even though I know that there are so much better films out there, more artsy films that I love as well. But I'm glad that Alex seems to enjoy it cause sometimes it feels weird when it feels like I enjoy a film that plenty of people seem to not like but I guess I find more things to enjoy in them than others
I don’t think it’s weird to like this movie, lots of people liked it.
Last episode ralph gave a really refreshing optimistic take on why it shouldn't be frowned upon to like superhero movies

As the words of Scott
"As a Cinephile, and- sorry wrong kind of phile- well one of those.
It’s interesting that Ralph will use some of the points Adam makes later in his review and discussion

@@floppydysk The film was shot in 4:3 for IMAX theaters.

I'm kinda mad they didn't let him use John Stewart instead of Martian Manhunter I would've liked to see who he would've cast
Regarding what they said around 35:30
I'm someone who loves both indie/arthouse movies and Snyder's work.
I agree with you 100% I also just like how powerful the characters feel the Marvel characters never really feel powerful to me
Richard Curtis seems like hed be a good fit to help write a 3rd Paddington movie. Along with the writers from 2 of course.
I feel like Alex actually liked it but felt compelled to agree with Adum and Ralph with saying the movie was crap.
I feel like that happens a lot tbh
i can’t wait to be the guest on the next SARDONICAST !!!
Nah I disagree with the notion that Batman is useless in this movie. He did a lot
1) He brought together the whole team
2) He provides a base for the team to plan and brainstorm together
3) He transports the team to Steppenwolf’s base
4) He penetrates the base’s shield so the justice league can enter
5) He helps clear the way for getting the team to Steppenwolf’s exact location and saves WW and Flash from parademons multiple times
I’d say Batman had a pretty important role in the movie imo
I'm still confused as to why Warner Bros. didn't give Batman, The Flash, Cyborg, and Aquaman their own movies before Justice League. Ironically, they could've made more money with that strategy.
They wanted to quickly catch up to marvel
I’m inclined to believe that zack synder or some higher up suggested they have a justice league movie where the justice league fail and then reset with flashpoint to then lead to single movies, I may be giving too much credit though and they just wanted to play catch up
Batman didn’t need his own movie before Justice League. People are already more than familiar with the character.
@@ColombianThunder Warner Bros. didn't bother to plant the seeds and just wanted to get a tree as soon as they could.
@@soapbiter36577 “real fans of the source material” gatekeeping much?
@@troin3925 Nah, just a simple curiosity
@@troin3925 im not a dc fan and even I cant understand how ANYONE can like Synder's portrayal of Superman. Injustice Superman imo makes way more sense
