Funny story about Aquaman. I was watching it, and about 5-10 minutes in, the screen went black, but the audio kept going. Eventually, about 3 minutes later, the audio cut off. About 15 minutes later, lights turned on and one of the employees went to the front saying how they would not be able to play the movie for the entire day. They handed out these free movie tickets, so I went to see SpiderVerse instead. Ever since then, I considered that as an act of God or something, saving me and my brain cells.
The fact that Black Panther gets a Best Picture Nomination but Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 2 and The Dark Knight, far superior Superhero-Movies, never got one shows how completely out of touch The Academy is and why nobody take it seriously anymore.
Horrormaster13 Black Panther better because black people. Not only that but has great action. I love how slow the cartoon cats fall when they are fighting in the end, far better than flipping a truck.

Happy As Lazzaro was a movie that that made me question life. I still can’t put my finger on what it really means, but it’s so tragic and dismal but magical and sweet. It’s this melancholy look on what it means to use someone in life and what gives us purpose and what joy means.
Have you guys heard of the Ricky Gervais Show? Adam should do the intro from that show for the next episode. "Every week, Adam from YourMovieSucks, Alex from IHateEverything, and Ralphthemoviemaker get together for a series of inane conversations about movies and the entertainment industry. Only reason I watch the Oscars is through Adum & Friends. And the only category I really care about is the animated picture. Only because of Isle of Dogs & Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse
You’re gonna be disappointed when you realise the animation category is a joke, and it will almost always go to a Disney film. No one cares about it, it’s just so they don’t have to be animated films in any other category
One of my favorite fan theories is for Get Out: The mom was the only real villain and she had brainwashed her husband and kids into helping her out, which explains why they all act so strangely both before and especially after the reveal.
They're deliberately acting though. At least the mother and daughter. The son seems like he's falling apart mentally. The father could maybe, but even then I think he gives too much exposition for him not to be on to the entire plot as an active participant.
Black Panther didn’t deserve all that Oscar love. I mean, it didn’t even take 12 years to make! Also, Aquaman would’ve been much better if it starred Vinnie Chase.
Aquaman is definitely a really stupid movie. But I admire how it knows it’s stupid and James Wan made it as over the top as possible. It’s doesn’t at the very least take itself seriously and is basically the most fun and creative DC as been in their movies in a long time. It’s the only DC film where the overuse of CG was actually utilized well unlike Moustache League. Granted, it’s still not by any definition a great movie, but I enjoyed myself through most of the film. Personally, it’s the best live action DC movie since Dark Knight Rises (Wonder Woman was pretty good until the third act bumped it down a notch).
It was taking itself seriously have you seen the interviews, wtf are you talking about, its so lame and not fun at all. a hero named aquaman is not cool that would have been a better plot than a black panther wannna be rip off.
The "They Shall Not Grow Old" wasn't eligible for a Best Documentary nomination because movies have to show for 7 days in a row in an LA theater. I...believe it should be eligible next year?
I think it was one of the guys from Linoleum Knife who made the really astute comparison between Happy as Lazzaro and Au Hasard Balthazar. Lazzaro is a saintly character who is kind of a blank slate so that the audience can see the suffering we cause to innocent people (or donkeys). I love how it very clearly shows that even after slavery or feudalism is abolished, there is still suffering and exploitation that the lowest classes have to deal with in our modern capitalistic world (and how slavery has repercussions through generations if those who were enslaved aren't given a better education or resources to start over with). And I think the magical realism of Lazzaro not dying or aging adds to the supernatural/holy/saintly aspect of his character.
I wanna give you guys a huge thanks, this show literally keeps me going. The only thing I look forward to nowadays is a brand new episode of Sardonicast.
38:05 The thing is, everyone would've said that same thing about every superhero movie all the way up till Feb last year. I mean, in a world where Black Panther get a best picture nom, you'd think you could squeeze in a best actress nom from a horror movie. Yet here we are...

I was wondering if you guys were going to talk about why Aquaman did so well in China. Supposedly, China is the only reason why it got over a billion dollars. Last I saw Aquaman hadn't grossed more domestically than the Dark Knight did. That tells me people in China just love the heck out of this movie. I read somewhere it's because ridiculous over the top movies just do really well in China. Hence why Venom did great there too. The more outlandish the better it seems.
If you guys hadn't heard of, or seen "The Man Who Wasn't There" before it being a recommendation, then I'm willing to bet you guys don't know about "The Hudsucker Proxy" It's another Coen Bro's classic that, unfortunately, flew under the radar. One of you guys need to recommend it one of these days. It would be a crying shame if it never gets the recognition it deserves. It was their last movie that Sam Raimi helped write, and their last movie before Fargo. It also stars Tim Robbins as the main character. EVERYONE ELSE, HELP THEM SEE THIS!

That's so cool! I saw Lazzaro Felice here in France with the director in an avant-première. It was pretty cool to be able to ask her about the movie . She basically said she wanted to see what happens when your childhood innocence comes back in your life as an adult.
Free Solo is back in theatres this week. I highly recommend seeing it. Its an extremely well-shot documentary about one of the greatest feats of athleticism in human history, which happened back in 2017.
Luigi Nastro If you liked it, then I’m glad. But it did NOT capture the essence of the band. Queen was about being bold, ambitious, and challenging the form. Bohemian Rhapsody is a safe, calculated, appeal-to-as-many-People-as-possible product that the Mike Meyers producer would have loved. It’s the Queen movie for people whose favorite Queen album is “Greatest Hits.”
Thoughts on *Happy as Lazzaro" After my initial viewing, I wasn't huge on the film. It bored me a little at first, then peaked my interest some and then just depressed me. I've thought about the film more and come to really like it, there is a lot of interesting moments packed in this film. I find it interesting that the first half of the film in the peasant village is much more light hearted, fun, adventurous compared to the later half in the city which is much more dark and depressing. The first half of the film is bondage until liberation then the second half is freedom. The peasants were better off under The Marquises than they were in the "freedom" of the city. It was a fairytale of kings and queens contrasted to reality. Lazzaro even refers to Tancredi as Lord Marques even in the later half of the film. Lazzaro finally realizing that the fairytale that was essentially slavery isn't real and then that finally breaks him. It's a sad movie. But just some thoughts on the movies I have more but I'm at work and whatever...
I'll say this about Aquaman: I didn't think it was a great movie, but I didn't think it's as bad as the two dumpster fires known as Batman v Superman & Justice League.

Thoughts on *Happy as Lazzaro"
After my initial viewing, I wasn't huge on the film.
Ralph was wrong about Aquaman.
I'll say this about Aquaman:
I didn't think it was a great movie, but I didn't think it's as bad as the two dumpster fires known as Batman v Superman & Justice League.
It was entertaining at the very least
Don't forget suicide squad

Aquaman is too smart of ralph
Jar Jar's sith reveal needs to be in the next Star Wars
Suspiria might be the most snubbed film of the century so far.
