About Aloft:
Aloft is a sandbox survival game where you must survive on islands floating around an eternal hurricane at the center of the map.
Build your base and sail the winds to discover new islands and find new resources, technologies, and equipment upgrades, while fighting back fungi corruption.
Learn more about your origins as you uncover secrets from the ruins of a civilization long gone, and find the answers to their demise by reaching the highest altitudes and braving the challenges of the hurricane.
Creative Sail Crafting
You have ultimate freedom when the time comes to craft and build sails for your island. The height and width of masts can be adjusted, the sails, rotated and expanded, and custom sails allow you to move anchor points around and inflate/deflate the cloth, letting you craft any decoration your mind can imagine. The sails you craft are then used to navigate your island around the map, navigating the wind currents and jet streams to move faster.
A life in the clouds
Craft buildings to protect you from the harsh wind, or that let the wind pass through, build bridges and zip lines to move quickly across your archipelago of floating islands, farm crops and raise animals by gathering water from passing clouds, erect windmills that will automate your machines, and gaze at the beautiful scenery. Jump off and fly freely using your glider, dancing with birds and clouds alike.
Cleanse Corruption
Some islands are corrupted by a dangerous force of nature in the form of a fungi infection. Dangerous and colorful mushrooms grow on top of the contaminated flora, and animals are victim to the corruption. Learn how to develop treatments for the various forms of the fungi, and cleanse the corruption from the islands. By healing and freeing the ecosystem, get access to new animal companions, livestock, crops, and resources.
Brave the Hurricane
The giant hurricane in the middle of the map hides the answers to your past and future in its eye. Rock fragments, lightning strikes, toxic spores and freezing temperatures make the journey through it difficult. If that was not enough, the bellows of ancients leviathans can be heard through the storm.
Wind Automation
Build windmills to harness the power of the wind and automate machines across your island. Optimize your windmill placement and hunt the best winds to power your production. Create automated oars to move your island, machines to craft advanced resources or even traps to protect your islands against enemies.
Island editor
Create your own island in the Island editor. Save it to appear in your game or export it to share your creation within a friend's game!
8-player co-op
Jump into an adventure with up to 7 other friends, and conquer the skies together. Chain off attacks while fighting as a group, take on a meaningful role in your day-to-day activities, and help your team sail and find new discoveries while exploring.

GO MATT
oh no architects
hopefully none of those things will be won by architects
Day 13 of asking you to play spore
Yeeewees aloft part twooooooo
He forgets round walls are not architecture. They're often used to save material and costs, when it comes to resisting pressure on the broad side. They are also required for the strongest shaped structures, and quite heavily so.
True, my anti-tect passion got the better of me this time!
Also were used to deflect early age cannonballs.
@@RealCivilEngineerGaming and yet you still hired one to place those stairs? Sus.
@@januszpanusz3636 curved walls were around long before canonballs.
Its almost like he is secretly an architect.
"nothing like a bit of a deforestation first thing in the morning"
That's definitely a morning wood handling innuendo
If I may use a reference form Tmberborn: "Pumping their Log as if their life depends on it".
I feel like the flying fortess could be hardened even more if it was a more efficient shape. Would help to thrust into battle.
Maybe it's possible to get a second island attached for such purposes?
if it were*
subjuctive case
@@giarnovanzeijl399
And a third island, preferably something very long to put in between.
They were also only used very rarely, if the castle was built next to a source of flowing water that could be diverted into the moat. Dry moats wear much more common
Perhaps it could release some sort of projectile from its tip?
It is actually insane how he can make every single game so fun and bcz if that i have bought like 20 games because of him he truly is amazing
me too, he should get sponsored more
Watching RCE cost to much money for me 😥
@@mvb02 lol
@@mvb02 me to
Me too. Literally had to download and sign up for steam. Didnt even have steam before him.
That bridge destruction was a real architect moment.
@@bubbledoubletrouble I mean, the important effect is that it's hard to cross a big gap. Water just helps with that, a dry moat like that is honestly just more effective.
@@giarnovanzeijl399 water moats were only used because the attackers had heavy armour so they drowned
@@bubbledoubletrouble True, but that doesn't have anything to do with water in the moat.
I mean, dry moats are a thing.
18:47 rounded walls are actually a product of engineering as they are essetially arches on their sides and they also allow for lower wind resistance
There used to be a game called Stratosphere: Conquest of the Skies in which you would upgrade your flying island with spikes, walls, and other offensive equipment and fly it into other fortified islands. When the islands bashed into eachother they would break up and whoever was closest would pick up the bits to heal and earn more resources to build more defenses. When you showed the flying fortress it reminded me of that game.
Can’t find it, is it still possible to play it ?
@@maximebajer6354
really?
just copy and paste "Stratosphere: Conquest of the Skies" into google.
it's from 1998 btw.
As someone who grew up on the countryside I can confirm that I indeed didn't know that wood came from trees until I played Minecraft for the first time.
I bet the editor has never been happier for a game update than sound effects in this
Fun fact. That dog shaped building is a b+b that has no bathroom. There is a port-o-john outside, placed inside of a fire hydrant shaped shed
Well that just makes me love it even more... xD I wanna visiting the dog house! :D
Impressive architecture at the end there RCE, you'll be a full fledged architect soon.
It was From the devs
I 100% engineered everything about it, no architecture here!
The stairs are an engineering genius placement, as they create a slowing barrier against anyone who breaches the gate.
Not gonna lie, the ability to alter the height/size of what's being built like that is absolutely brilliant.
Doing some left over gingerbread house kits with my kids today. My 13yo was struggling to get his to stay standing. My 7yo told him "Real Engineer" would call him an architect because he can't build a house. My youngest two love watching your videos with me. My 5yo is obsessed with the puzzle games.
Awesome! He's totally right too 😅
6:25 the music sync is amazing
Wow, this game has developed a LOT since I first ever saw it. Well done developers! =]
Thank you so much 😊
@@Aloft_Game Would I be correct in presuming this was inspired by the disasterpiece that was Worlds Adrift? If so, I really appreciate you guys picking up their slack and running with it without the scummy practices!
@@ledumpsterfire6474 Hey there! We have been loosely inspired by the theme of World's Adrift, but Aloft is a very different game. We intend to forge our own path and make a game that is truly original.
@@Aloft_Game Well, you've certainly got my attention. Thanks for responding!
This looks kinda fun. There is one glaring issue with your battle island fortress, water, there isn't a water source. Might have been a better idea to grab a big island with the waterfall.
I'm fairly certain it's based on a disaster of a game called Worlds Adrift, which was basically an MMO version of this.
The developers tried their damnedest to take the money and run with it, suddenly shutting down the servers in the middle of early access, and providing no way to run private servers.
One threat of class action lawsuit later (because buying an early access game is buying it in an "as is" state, which it didn't qualify as anymore since it became unplayable), they were finally forced to start issuing refunds.
Really glad somebody is picking up the idea. It was a solid idea, just a terrible company.
It's a pretty decent castle, although I'd add a murder house and some machicolations. If I've learned something from Shad's videos, machicolations make castles cooler and more protected.
This game could very well be what world's adrift could've been. I'm really hoping it turns out to be fantastic. Great video buddy, thank ya!
Good to see there's still progress being made in the development.
this is one of those jokes that take ages to prepare but are really worth it, thanks for making this video RCE!
That castle is INSANE! Mad props for building it!
This game is so cool! Can’t wait for the next video!
Matt: finds a perfectly good bridge and decides to destroy it for no reason at all.
You were the chosen one! It was said that you’d destroy the architects, not join them!
From one Engineer to another. Your castle isn't overboard. It is efficient and robust design. Also corners keep the Architects away
Just wait for those videos where Matt tries to go supersonic with his base.
Rce always manages to uplift my mood and Entertain me through his videos. His games choices and gameplay are top tier 👌 👏
3:18 That might be the best innuendo I've ever heard! 👏
This looks a little reminiscent of Worlds Adrift, and I am so here for it.
if matt wasnt such an architect, he'd realize that it makes no sense that the sun is setting, night time is caused by the earth blocking the sunlight from your POV, but there's no earth to do that! theres lore here to uncover
Oh wow, I sure had an architect moment you are right! I wonder what blocked the sun then...?! 🤯
@@RealCivilEngineerGaming i didnt actually respect a reply, but while we're here, an architect wouldnt have taken that so well. it must have been an honest, engineering mistake 👍
I haven't found a youtuber more like myself than this silly engineer. Good on ya mate, keep it up.
Please play more of this!
So glad you're back playing this game, such a fun concept, even better player
matt you've inspired me to become a mechanical engineer. engineers for life!
0:12 that dog building is awesome tho
It's fascinating how much time this madman apparently spends for a 20 minute vid. And let's not forget the editors.
I would love to see the under side of the fortress covered in the float sails. It’s practical, and very very efficient.
Architects=hindrance
Engineer=solution
I somehow expected the castle to be shaped ... stronger.
He get the castle From devs..
RCE: Builds castle
RCE: Sleeps on Roof
so happy they sponsored you! great build!
Perfect timing, I just finished watching the demo
Honestly, what I want now is to get an island with all that underneath stuff / hidden pathway accessible only by flying, and put the helm there. It could still see out, but it’s all ninja. Then, more room up top for more gear.
I love this game , brings back memories of the the old worlds adrift days.
"I built my own moat. Why not, why not?"
That sounds dangerously close to architecture. Building things because "why not"?! Matt is succumbing to the dark side!
0:12 Matt! What is Paddy going to think about you calling him architecture! He even has a stick!
Love the game and the content. Anyone else bothered that he can make the island fall without the floaters. Yet the islands float themselves anyways
Please play When Ski Lifts Go Wrong!! It's like Polybridge but with ski lifts and controllable vehicles!
This would make a good new series
little did he know. the architects made those island!
a grass roof? That seems awfully... ARCHITECTURAL! Dun dun duuuu
Super stoked your revisiting a loft!
Nice castle you got there Matt, but it seems to be missing something... Where. Are. Your. MACHICOLATIONS?!
It would have been nice to see parts of the construction of the castle... although the final reveal all at once was impressive.
3:58 Do not worry, humanity evolved to include the hardhat in the skull.
I thought this amazing game died Long ago but im glad this game is alive
"I can eat the clean water" -RCE
Matt's quote of the day
I love that: "if you ever played a video game, you know wood comes from trees".....i never heard that irl...who knew 😆
I don't know how but i got this recommended right when you released it 😂
Here's a fresh perspective: while these outrageous architects are making insane buildings: it takes better engineers to make them real. The more outrageous a building can be, it will be a greater feat of engineering
That's one dope ass flying castle.
now since the sails provide more speed, Make a super sonic island
Love it! But if you’re going to call it a Flying Fortress, I think it should resemble a B-17… food for thought!
Awesome castle! It needs some strongly shaped cannons to finish it off. 😝
Fun fact: Very few castles had a moat to deter enemies. Moats were stagnant water, which bought mosquitos and disease. Not only that but they were very expensive upkeep to keep a fresh flow of water. Thats if they had a fresh supply in the first place. So yeah.. Overall. Moats are very.. nope
I gotta see more of this!!!
Mmm, I do love a survival crafting game with mobile bases. Given just how many games you've played, it would be great if you put them in genre playlists as well as in series.
Makes me miss the game Stratosphere from back in the day.
I remember seeing an RCE video when he was at like 50K subs. Seeing him at 1.5M not even that much later is INSANE
I think I liked the BOOSH sound every time you hit something hahah
RCE, the building at 0:11 is commonly referred to as "Big Underpants" by the locals here in Beijing. Even they laugh at architects' silly designs.
Btw I like the intro its very cool keep it up with your good content
Always enjoy a engineer's hardwork!
8:05 I can’t believe Matt didn’t notice it at the bottom it says “Destroy the *nodes* to cleanse the island.”
This game seems awesome
This is how I imagine Jupiter now.
Studio Ghibli would like a word with you about your Castle in the Sky.
“May have gone a little bit overboard”
Literally no-one’s surprised 😂😂😂
What i did learn today is: that engineers don’t drink but…eat the water. Never would’ve thought that. Haha
That food system seems very similar to Valheim, which I like
I hope this game is going to be free when it releases, because my parents don't allow me to buy games and this game seems so fun
those architects must be some funguy's
0:00 - So basically you're doing a trailer for the sequel to the movie Idocracy, presumably to be called Architectocracy? 😂
This is a really cool game the fact that you can control your own island is really cool !!
I loved this vid can u do more
Being the roof is made of grass, it's almost criminal that you didn't extend then all the way to the ground like traditional grass roof houses.
5:21 Snake? Snaaaaaaaaaaaaake?! XD
Flying castle island let's gooo!
The castle needs some... MACHICOLATIONS!!!
Hey, there is sound now, nice^^
**Looks at the castle** WHERE ARE THE MACHICOLATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!! THAT IS A ARCHITECT CASTLE! FORM NO FUNCTION! Plot twist Matt is actually an Architect it makes sense or else he wouldn't be so obsessed with the forbidden shape. SHAPE is equal to architect he taught us that!
I think that intro should be the actual story. I was eating it up.
Nice update and a proper bridge review.
My favorite UA-camr for sure
You can rotate sails before put them to make it symetrical 😉🙃
Legend says the potatoes are still waiting to be watered...
5:53 Queue acoustic section of Feel Good Inc.
EDIT:
8:30 *Feel Good Inc. intensifies*
I drive by that dog building in your intro everyday!
Putting architects to good use...as building material!
