If you are new to crab snaring and looking into getting a good setup at a bargain price, this is the way to go! Click that link above to purchase your own Honor 50(I believe amazon lists it as a "5000" but that is the same as the one I have). Crab snaring can be a little intimidating with big reels and big rods needed to chuck out these snares that can weight more than half a pound. You can purchase this entire setup for less than $100 (rod, reel, and crab snare). Once you have the gear, the possibilities are endless!
    Other fishing gear used:
    Daiwa Beefstick: amzn.to/2DWlvty
10 foot Shimano Convergence: amzn.to/2uvBvhN (not exactly the same rod, but similar)
    Shimano Sahara 4000: amzn.to/2uw17v2

I’ve had very good luck with this inexpensive set up:
Daiwa Df100A Giant Spin Reel ($33)
    Shakespeare TWSF1025S10 tidewater 10’ spinning rod ($30)
Running 25lb mono to a size 1 snap then the snare.
In my opinion, the absolute best snares you can find are hand-made by the OG crab snare master, Roy. You can find him on the Pacifica Pier a few days a week. The ones with the blue snare wire.

I bought a DF100a after an OG fisherman recommended it to me. That with a cheap daiwa FT have been a serious combo!

Fun video. Just a suggestion: next time you get one, you might want to talk about not keeping females with eggs even if they are legal size. Not all female crab (or lobster) can produce eggs so it's always a good idea to let the ones that can go so you'll have more crab in the future. Keep up the great work!

Here's a tip. Last time I was at the pier "long time ago" at 4am lol I came across a guy that said he would cut his squid open from the top and the rest was cut off. He used that and he said it works well. I tried it and SURPRISE! I didn't catch any lol. 😂

starts video without tape, ends it with a band-aid ... Die Hard Miscasting?? lols oh btw, that Honor 50 is a pretty solid snaring reel. it's a tad smaller than the average 5000 but it's lightweight yet built well, surprising stiffness in a graphite reel. the best part is that it's super slow, 4.3:1 or something, perfect torque and leverage for winching crabs in. tested mine all year, and imo it's too slow for plugging, but decent low cost option for chucking bait and snares and occasional bottom jigging. just don't dunk it or get it sprayed too much (the drag washer seal isn't perfect) but otherwise i'm impressed.

I can not agree that the "reel" you chose in the video and want to advertise is the ideal/best for crabbing brother....
It looks great and compact for jetty fishing but not best for crabbing with 5oz weight and 2oz bait plus 2lb crab.....
I would say anything 6000 up or better yet 8000 is ideal/best for crabbing if you don't want to exhaust and burnt out your arms...
