Will the coolant temp not be reading closer to the turbo temp than engine temp? I don't have any experience to know if this would cause issues but it does come to mind for daily driving & the thermostat possibly opening prematurely.
Thanks for the comment, I see what your saying but realistically the size/flow of the turbo feed and return pipe is so much smaller than the flow from the main engine and water pump hoses the small amount of extra heat should be dissipated in the system, the stat itself will still only open once the engine hits the overall temperature required, turbocharger may well bring it up to operating temp faster, but still operate the stat correctly if in good condition. The biggest difference to keeping temps down is fitting a coolant re-route, in the past on another mx5 found it made a noticeable difference to overall temps, that was however built as a drift car. Hope that has answered your questions :)
Great info ill be needing this, ill be starting my turbo project over on my channel very soon 👍
Good luck, I'm sure you will be fine. I should be uploading a progress video very soon. I will keep an eye out for your videos too. Cheers
@@dan_the_drifter321 I'm just using the lady if the UK dry weather, then it will be in the garage for winter
