    Good vid Dan. I assume it’s a different process for ABS systems would I be correct?

    • @dan_the_drifter321
      @dan_the_drifter321 Місяць тому

      Thanks Rob, generally still the same unless actually replacing or removing/blocking off the ABS. As long as there is always fluid in the system so the pump doesn't suck in any air you should be able to keep pumping it through, they do often advise connecting up a scan tool to bleed/activate the pump if it does end up sucking some air in, or if you want to replace every last drop of fluid that could be in the valves of the ABS unit. This isn't the same for all bikes though, I would research before hand if worried. I was very jealous of your Portimao trip, looking forward to the vids.

    Enjoyed your video. Im thinking of booking JW days at Knockhill in June. Did you feel it was worth the extra cash to do both days? I would put myself in the back half of intermediate group.

    • @dan_the_drifter321
      @dan_the_drifter321 5 місяців тому

      I would say yes and no, the smaller group sizes are well worth it compared to say a No limits day, however, I would say from an actual tuition point of view a lot of the things we were told as a group were similar by the end of day 1 as they were on day 2, mainly line choice and body position. So value for money 1 day at each circuit is probably all you need. It would have been nice if each session they concentrated on a couple individuals to give more direct feedback after the overall session de-brief. Saying that I'm sure you will enjoy it either way and I will likely book in another JW day this year somewhere if I get chance. Good luck, let me know how you get on if you do 👍

    I'm having issue on my 07 daytona 675 sport, never seen bolts so eroded. Was thinking of using grip tight socket set any advice? I mean I can't even get to all the bolts atm so I'm hoping when I take the rad off there will be some form of space

    • @dan_the_drifter321
      @dan_the_drifter321 7 місяців тому

      Defo more space with the rad off, all I can say is be careful as very easy to snap them, if you can warm then up or grind the nuts off to leave the studs showing that's the best way but sometimes they are just too rusty to do that. Good luck

    • @dan_the_drifter321
      @dan_the_drifter321 8 місяців тому

      Hi, fairly sure I extended the arms 40mm per side and chopped the hubs down 25mm each side, it had some pretty severe camber but drifted great! I would say about 7 or 8 degrees camber and then with longer tie rods and brake lines easy another 15 degrees or so over stock. More than ample for anyone other than pro drivers tbh. Found it went lock to lock just as quick as my old s14 which also had extended arms and chopped knuckles. Good luck.

    I,ve been doing track days for 20+ years firstly on an Rd500lc then a yzf 750r and a tzr3xvsp 250 and finally on an R7owo2 750, i did most of the uk circuits and also a far few europien tracks, folombray , nurburgring ,ledenon, metett, valdevienne, croix, equyers, and enjoyed them all, and all incident free apart from oulton pk minor off and metett minor off , as an ex club/national racer in the 70,s (inc IOM manx gp 76/77/78) it was a great way of keeping focused , but as i got older self preservation kicked in, i,m 69 now and not done any riding since 2019,.some of the event organisers are long gone, Track time promotions/Eurotrax/focused events/Byrne up bike tours/performance bikes frenzies/Yamaha riders expierience/speed freaks and a few others, now its no limits who ive done a few with, not my favourite by a long way due to "gung ho" riding and associated red flags,. i was lucky ,no injuries or expensive damage on track days and even in racing i only suffered a broken collar bone but totalled a tz 250 maxton, and managed to do exactly the same thing on the road returning from oulton track day, wrote off my Yzf750r and broke same collar bone again !, 23 years after the 1st time !,. As the old saying goes "The older i get the faster i was" I rode to and from most of my track days even the euro ones but bought an ex motocrss van for the last few years which made things easier and a bit more professional ,. Personally i wouldn't read to much into the lap times as you will come to realize how fast the pro,s are and how slow you are, aim for enjoyment and reasonable lap times will follow,. use the instructors to,. anyway safe riding and enjoy the track time you have,.cheers,.

    Hi Dan, Great video. Are you running the clip-ons upside down (on the wrong sides) for comfort?

      Thanks Shaun, ye they are riser clip ons and flipped side to side as you say, tried to get back as close to flat bars as possible, I really like them and don't get any wrist pain at all on track, think my (now better body position) helps with that too. Cheers for watching.

      @@OHaraRidingBikes Went to Brands last week and will be at Castlecombe next week, fingers crossed I pass noise test on a standard track day there as they are quite strict from what I've heard. There's also an NG race weekend there which I was considering.. What about you?

      @@dan_the_drifter321 I've never ridden CC, have been there though. I saw the NG weekend and did consider it also. Eyeing up some August dates at the moment, Cadwell two dayer and possibly Olivers Mount in September. Look forward to your next installment.

      @OHaraRidingBikes thanks, will try to keep the channel updated. Where abouts are you located? I enjoyed combe last time I went. One of the nice things is they have a maximum 12 people on track on a standard track day so it feels empty, they are generally shorter sessions though. Let me know if you do go for the race weekend, I've still not decided, nothing like cutting it fine 😅

      Thanks, yes the item number off ebay is 324235686642 I did have to very lightly shave down one bush if not it caused the pedal to bind before it was fully done up, otherwise they seemed to fit perfect.

      Ah dear, bugger when they are that tight, funny thing is some people have complained their sprocket nut has fallen off on its own lol. Did you try warming it up? Absolute worst case which I didn't mention is you could cut the nut off and buy a new one but obviously that's not ideal. Let me know how you get on 👍

    Good videos Dan, I’ve only been riding on track 12 months and decided to jump up to fast group and it made a big difference! 4-5 seconds better at donni on my 675R now doing 1:47 on my video, still so much to learn like you, my one advice like everyone else is spend money on training rather that racing for a few more months, I have done 1 day 1-1 with Msv at cadwell and we hardly talked about body position or knee down, all in lines and vision and you will be surprised what lap times you can do while being at less lean angle and risk! Hope to see you out on track with another triple💪

      Hi James, thank you very much for your comment! I will take a look at some of your videos. I did get a small amount of tuition at the Anglesey JW day which is also on here if you fancy a look. But ye I agree I probably do need to improve a fair bit really before I go racing. Other people do say just go for it and you will speed up soo much just from racing. Hard one, will see how things pan out. Wheres your next track day?

      @@dan_the_drifter321 at oulton park for 2 days in July, then hoping to get another in August before I take my test day for ACU, like you I’m from down south so everything is a trek! I only live 30 mins from castle Combe but noise restrictions! Interestingly I have the same scorpion exhaust as you, did you have to have baffle in at NGRR test day for Acu at Combe?

    • @dan_the_drifter321
      @dan_the_drifter321 Рік тому

      @jamesmackie2844 ah nice, I fancy oulton too! Well because that was a "test day" as such it wasn't as tight as usual, they said I blew 98db with the baffle in but only around 6k revs if i remember correctly, I am a little worried as I've booked a normal track day there in July and think I might struggle to pass noise now as people say they make you rev it nearly 3/4 revs on a normal combe day? Have you not managed to pass with yours there in the past? If you are on Facebook or insta, feel free to give me a message as be interested to hear how you get on👍

    Great video. It actually makes sense to use a fake one for the sim setup. I got a fake OMP like that one for my Thrustmaster and an original Momo Prototipo from the late 70's for my car (recently restored). A fake steering wheel on a car is just asking for trouble.

    • @dan_the_drifter321
