I have been on a weight loss journey.. down 177lbs! 10 months low carb.. now carnivore for 11 months. I jumped on the higher fat band wagon, and it caused a stall for me, as well as horrible digestive issues! All stomach issues cured when I went carnivore. I cut the fat.. have a couple of psmf days and I'm back to losing and feeling great. No digestive drama! 20 lbs to go! Slowly, slowly.. no excess butter or fats for me. I eat what's in the meat and eggs. Thanks for sharing all that you do.

Interesting point about the eggs, I noticed if I eat a soft boiled egg there is no change to my blood sugars, or sometimes if I'm really hungry they may go down, but if I eat an egg fried in butter they go up (not a whole lot but definitely not stabilizing like boiled).

@@leilaabouzeenni3580 Interesting.. However, Correlation may not be causation. Could be something else that triggered a that little spike.. I'm not an expert, but could be coffee, stress, or just timing between meals. Not sure. Maybe Maria would know. I hope she sees this and can help with an answer.

Friends I think you are explaining the song of my people. High fat carnivore for a year with 0 weight loss (can not eat another fat cap from my ribeye). I actually had heartburn, all my symptoms never went away. IR, PCOS, hypothyroidism, menopause, yep I have all the things. I definitely am going to go down your rabbit hole. I saw you on REVERSE and think you may become my new obsession to help me figure my health out. Thank you for voicing your truth, and helping me. They - the carnivore influencers - say stick with it, you’re healing. Well, yes. My bone on bone knees aren’t hurting. Arthritis diminished. Eczema gone. But dang, that weight just doesn’t want to go away! I do need to walk and exercise more. Admittedly. And working on that. But I’ve done my macros and realize I need to eat less fat and knock off the dairy. I loooove my coffee and was bulletproofing it but will stop that and see how that goes. Also think I’ll PSMF a couple or 3 days a week. Studying up on that. Thank you Maria & Craig.

The fat cell phenomenon you explain is why you see people that had liposuction, and had their fat cells suctioned out, if they gain any significant weight later, they gain it in all the places they didn't have lipo and it gives them a really weird shape. I've personally known people this happened to.

I am 5' 6.5" and have always kept my weight around 125 or under but recently I have gained weight to 132 all in my middle. I am a dietitian and was taught completely different where you eat 60% of carbs, I used to teach diabetics how to eat. In the past two years I do not look much different but have and A1C of 5.7, fasting BG above 120, high blood pressure....and exhausted. I was shocked when i was diagnosed with all of theses things because i am celiac and do not crave sweets and eat fairly lower carb. I found your carnivore book through my naturopath and just got the PSMF book and started reading yesterday and it totally makes sense what you are saying. I believe I do not have as many fat cells so it is now making sence what I am going through. I am also a dietitian by education and worked as a clinical dietitian and as a health educator. I began to research low-carb lifestyles a year ago and completely reversed my thinking from what I was taught. I always controlled my weight with a low-calorie diet, lifting weights and playing tennis but it was getting harder with age. I learned previously that we developed fat cells when we were younger but really never considered that as a factor for me now. After this video, I now realize it is a factor! I have been about 100-115 my entire life except during a twin pregnancy. Recently I have been experiencing weight fluctuations but was trying to up my protein and fat intake after reading many of your articles and others at the recent summit. I always struggled with getting enough protein. I did not understand how my weight was changing because my carb intake was relatively the same but now believe it was my increased fat and my smaller number of fat cells. I have your PSMF book and plan to use these practices/recipes to stabilize my weight. Thank you!

I was slow to admit the copious amounts of “healthy fats” I added to my plate and pan over the years -grass-fed butter, coconut oil, bacon, etc- were actually causing me more harm than good. I ended up carrying 225# on my 5’3.5” frame. While I was able to drop about 75% of that following Dr. Westman’s “Page 4,” it wasn’t until I got serious about my macros and incorporated Maria’s Pure Protein Days, ie PSMF, that I’ve been able to drop the last 30+ pounds and begin reversing my metabolic issues.
That said, despite over 100# of weight loss, I’m acutely aware that I must monitor my fat intake as well as carbohydrates for the rest of my life.
It takes discipline to retrain one’s brain to enjoy lower fat foods, but I now prefer them and favor sustainably raised protein without added fat.
Please learn from my errant ways: Maria and Craig know their biology, and their approach to restoring and sustaining health is the wisest you’ll find.

I did stop high fat a year ago after watching you vid on fat threshold and diabetes. My blood sugars we slashed in half daily and I went from a 3 month diabetic bloods 98 mmol/l down to a 64 mmol/l. Unfortunately I got taken in again before Christmas and I tried high fat again for 3 weeks and and I had to stop I put on 10 kg on in fat. My blood sugars were high. I was feeling so I'll. Lucky for me I've gone back to lower fat and lost the 10 kg and a few more kg on top. Blood sugars are down again . The only problem I have is my folate acid is low very low and I don't want to eat veg or take a supplement so I'm looking into what I can do. I am low b12 due to genetics. I'm one of those 'lucky' people that can be fat and metabolically healthy which means I have a high fat threshold. This is obviously great for survival on a deserted island but not so great when you have food at your fingertips.
I've managed to eat intuitively a 1:1 fat to protein ratio. This kept me in maintenance. I tried the high fat to increase my ketones, hoping to get more energy. My ketones did increase but so did my weight. Energy level stayed the same. I'd love to know why some get an abundance of energy on keto and others do not, even if metabolically healthy?

I wish my dad would listen to this and take it to heart. When I was little I remember he had these huge muscles and we used to be so proud of our dad on the beach, his brothers were flabby and he had the body of Tony Danza. He was forced into early retirement because the factory went bankrupt and he didn't have a highschool education so no one else would hire him. His work buddies got their GED but he refused. And basically went from pounding metal making brake pads and lugging around metal for 8 hours a day to sitting on the couch all day. He began losing his muscle mass, and suddenly became diabetic. Now he is scary skinny. I keep telling him he needs to eat protein to rebuild his muscle tissue so he can store more glucose. But he's been brainwashed by now, he can't eat too much meat anymore because it's "bad" for you and has too much fat, and fat is gross. But he needs it. He insists on continuing as his doctor told him and increasing his medication.

When I did regular carnivore, I gained weight. When I tried “high fat carnivore” I missed the connection of lowering protein, so I gained weight. When I tried psmf or just higher protein days, I didn’t lose weight and it triggered old disordered eating. When I tried super high fat/low protein, I finally lost almost all the weight I wanted to lose. I was “this close” to my goal weight. Then all my hair started falling out by the handful. I don’t know if it was more to do with some serious illnesses I had during that time frame than lowering protein, but I had to go into survival mode and get my hair to stop falling out. (Not just casual hair loss either, over 50% gone within a few months). So now I’ve gained all the weight back.

Super low protein will result in hair loss, and lean mass loss (muscle loss, which will move scale down but it NOT what you want). Stick with hitting your protein goal and adjusting fat based on goals and give it time. :)

My fat cells seem to be concentrated on my limbs, I don't have diabetes or insulin resistance. Keto never worked for me. What about bile and its function? Can't we only digest as much fat as we have bile to digest? Isn't the rest of it just running through us (which would explain why too much rendered fat usually gives people the runs)?
