Thanks for uploading this I got goosebumps down my spine watching this video I can't believe I missed out on these 2 shows they playing in Dallas hopefully this isn't the only tour
@@JoshLaDuke yea but I'm in Houston with no ride and have to work the night shift they didn't give me the days off and no one I knew wanted to make the trip so glad I get to share the experience like this at least
Second best concert I've ever seen. First was when they opened for A Perfect Circle in '04. Stunned at how good this show was. Thanks to all the new comers that played their hearts out on the classics. That drummer and bassist had my attention all night. Great stuff.
Was amazing being there in person and is amazing to see from this perspective. Last night was classy, refined and professionally applied chaos. TMV is a class act and they’ve only gotten better over time.
Everything is tuned down a half step so he’s not straining. Think of those years he was straining his voice, that’s probably why it was sounding hurt. He’s comfortable and controlled now
@@JoshLaDuke I'll be seeing them next week in Toronto... Amazing to see some clips from last night. They really do sound better than ever here. Cedric's voice sounds better now that he's older and isn't doing front flips while he sings
The only band I've ever been blown away by without having heard any of their music prior to watching them. 2010 Big Day Out festival in Adelaide, AU. Been a fan ever since
I'm so jealous of everyone that got tickets to any of these shows after seeing that setlist. New lineup sounds like they are lighting it up, especially the new drummer and Eva on bass. As much as I miss Juan there's something awesomely King Crimson-esque about a lineup featuring new members as well as some that go back to the very beginning.
Agreed; the drummer was incredible! I didn't go last night (Dallas night 2), but I heard it was another great show. I had to go see Gavin Harrison & Porcupine Tree. Let me tell you, back to back MV/ PT reunion shows was a dream come true!! Still on cloud nine...
Not a fan of the last part of their discography but there seems to be a more clean approach to their live performances. Love the raw Volta but this new perception seems worth it live.
Really thought TMV was done for a good minute there. So excited to see Omar and Cedric pulling it back together and playing these legendary moneymakers 👏👏👏
Excellent quality footage here, Josh. I was at both shows and this really captured the vibe. Please tell me you have more than this one and Televators to upload?
Unfortunately, I wanted to enjoy *most* of the show and not be too much of a pest to the people behind me. I wish I could have captured a bit more; I'm sure there will be others with great footage at the other shows though...
I was lucky enough to see them open for System of a Down back in 2004; that was my introduction to them, and they were mind-blowing to see live back then. It was an intense live show with so much energy!! This was a bit different, but they sounded better than ever. Don't miss this show!
@@JoshLaDuke Oh my lord, for SOAD, that is just sick af just picturing that, especially with these sounds. I can totally see that transition from Mars Volta to SOAD and Serj Tankian's beautiful voice and messages of solidarity and revolt. Ooof! Thank you so much for sharing this out here, my friend.
Did not expect this setlist, WOW. Wish I didn't spoil it but I also kind of had to check because I bought tickets for a show in another city though that's a 6 hour drive and the latest album got me nervous. Super amped now.
same boat, i decided a month ago i wasn’t gonna go on the 27th cause i thought it was be all from the last two albums, now i’m scrambling to buy tickets and get all my friends to come, so psyched!
Me too man, closest show to me technically is out of state, while the show in my state is a good 5 hours away. Got tix for out of state show and was worried the old school stuff was no longer in their interest to play.
have a ticket to the boston show, unable to go and so fucking bummed. im hoping they announce another tour for some time next year. Just bad timing for me for this one unfortunately.
Wow Cedric is hitting all the notes! I mean it’s early in the tour. But wow - his live vocals have improved considerably. Still a touch pitchy, but it kind of works with their sound.
@@greggraeber8671 its on their Wikipedia in the top paragraph right now, and when you compare pictures, it looks like the same person. Apparently, they are signed to the same record label (Clouds Hill).
@@essaywhu Thanks I just went down the rabbit hole and saw she was on cloud Hill. Interesting she's German and is VERY good. Obviously people are going to miss Jon, Dave, & pridgeon. Excited for ATL Friday.

They did that thing. I like the bassist jam her butt off
I was so mad at myself for not recording more but thank god for this man recording 🙌

Felt like a surreal night…So dope

Crazy enough, I just looked at StubHub and there are a lot of inexpensive tickets still available for tonight.

Cedric's vocals are better than they were years ago. Wow
Is Omar also playing drums? :D

Jesus... Cedric's voice sounds so much better. Gave me chills
HolyF*ck! Cedric is singing just really f*cking amazing !!!
They sound amazing. Best Cedric’s voice has ever sounded? See y’all in DC.
cuz he's calm and controlled. not dancing like a freak on a leash lol

Listening to the crowd sing the chorus of Roulette Dares... amazing!

He changed up the lyrics to the chorus of Vicarous Atonement, interesting.
wow that transition to Roulette Dares 🤩
