Cedric has lived a very interesting long life. He looks happy to be out of the recent shell he’s been in. Raising kids and finding some level of sobriety. It’s inspiring. He’s so talented and self aware. I love him and Omar so much. Godspeed guys
What shell? He's kept busy since the last album. Between Noctourniquet and this new Self-Titled TMV album, Cedric released 5 albums and 1 EP that I know of. He contributed drums and backing vocals on Big Sir's album "Before Gardens After Gardens." Dropped 2 albums through a side project called Anywhere. 1 as Antemasque (a band formed with Omar Rodríguez-López soon after TMV broke up). Then 1 full album and 1 EP as At The Drive-In (the band Omar and Cedric were in before TMV). Plus he was working on a solo project called Zavalaz (album still not finished). So he never stopped making music. He's gotten plenty of practice and therefore has improved as a result. Check out those side projects of his if you haven't. I love it all!✌🏽
I'm all here for this new era. They look healthy, mature, well-rested and happy. The line-up is amazing and their sound is amazing. Long live the volta.
Dude volta are fucking killing it live. I'm so impressed with Cedric's voice, he sounds so much better than 10 years ago, and the drummer is really capturing that Jon Theodore vibe. She's amazing in her own right too. It actually feel so surreal to see volta back again after all these years, and actually sounding great. WOOOOOO!!!!
I think it's attributable to a number of factors. First and foremost, he was also doing a much more vocally rigorous singing then, as compared to now. Back then, he was always going for those high notes that Cedric appears to now maybe do an octave lower. In fairness, he is still hitting the high notes, but he appears to be reserving that for the high points / crescendos in each song. By using is approach consistently over the length of a tour, Cedric is presumably able to prevent aggravation of or injury to his vocal cords / whatever else of the part of the body is strained by extremely rigorous signing / more high notes. Contrast him now, to when I saw the band for the tour for Octahedron, Cedric took a break and had like two steaming hot teas served to him at separate times during the set. I believe another important factor is that it's my understanding that Omar and Cedric were smoking a lot a lot back in the day. I recall an interview with either Omar or Cedric where one of the two indicating there were times where they were smoking like over an ounce a week. Not small amounts. On top of this, I believe Cedric doesn't smoke anymore, either that or his performance gives the impression that he appears to be singing with far less aggravation than that Octahedron concert I previously attended. It makes me really really happy reading about how for many people this is their first time seeing the Volta live. Ya'll couldn't have gotten a better setlist in my honest opinion. I had never seen L'Via live until this tour and they absolutely killed it. It's the best I've ever heard them sound since pre-bedlam days.

The setlist is absolutely unreal. For all these years Cedric has given the impression that they weren't gonna play a lot IF ANY old shit. "What it’s NOT going to be is your ‘fav member lineup’ playing their ‘classic records’ in full etc. Maybe we’ll play old shit, who knows how we feel." (Brooklyn Vegan, 2019) Needless to say - glad they're playing old shit.
It’s true , no other band has made me feel the way they can. This tour totally reconfirmed that for me. They will go down in history as one of the greatest bands of all time

Saw this show in ATL and saw them in Chicago. Something about the energy in ATL was completely electric. The best show of my life and I am forever touched.

Scientology supposedly is trying to help cover up for Danny and prove him innocent. Cedric posted all about him specifically and other Scientologists. Also supposedly someone poisoned his dog. He found his dog had been eating something and it was poisoned. He believes it was Scientologists.

So they've been using intimidation tactics on Cedric and his wife (e.g. spied on them, hacked their devices, harmed their pets, etc). There's the Leah Remini documentary series on Scientology and their victims, Cedric and Chrissie were featured on an episode. i want to understand some of the background of the song vicarious , cause what i know so far is that it is based on the story of a priest and some weird shiz however i feel theres something else , and somehow it is creepy, well if someone wants to share some info or your own opinion about it that'd be great.
I can't help but wonder if those who say they sound better than ever, got to see them with Thomas Pridgen on drums. I got to see that and it was pure joy and madness. Omar was smiling so much that day. I know their music is evolving. Something about the intensity of the new drummer doesn't seem to capture the high energy of the older songs. I might be wrong cause after all, its on video and not live. Hope I'm wrong. I'll find out in October in LA baby!

She was s*xually abused by a member of scientology (Danny Masterson) years ago, she came forward to Cedric about it and they decided to sue. Scientology will back up any member who's being accused of a crime and anyone who's accusing them will be considered an enemy. So they've been using intimidation tactics on Cedric and his wife (e.g. spied on them, hacked their devices, harmed their pets, etc). There's the Leah Remini documentary series on Scientology and their victims, Cedric and Chrissie were featured on an episode. There are also many articles online, there's plenty of information on the case

I can't help but wonder if those who say they sound better than ever, got to see them with Thomas Pridgen on drums. I got to see that and it was pure joy and madness. Omar was smiling so much that day. I know their music is evolving. Something about the intensity of the new drummer doesn't seem to capture the high energy of the older songs. I might be wrong cause after all, its on video and not live. Hope I'm wrong. I'll find out in October in LA baby!
