@@franklinmimi that or no!! It's not a toy!! Don't chew it!! I have a vid a few years back where my dog took a skein of yarn and shredded it thru the house. I follow the trail and it's all hanging from his mouth like spaghetti noodles!
I just pull the string from the center and I don’t have to worry about the yarn needing to be rotated. It’ll work from the center out which is a lot more efficient.
@@bettywinslow6387 Yes! I don’t know how anyone manages to pull from the center without the yarn becoming a big knotted mess at some point (if not at many many points) along the way. I used to think it was just ME that was the problem!
@@kkilljoy3588 for me the only that that it would start knotting up is if the 2 strands come from the cemter and start to intertwine, which for me only happened once or twice and it's still easy to continue. But if you really want to pull the strand form the outside, you can puylt the yarn in a bowl so it rolls on itself and not the floor
If been using paper towel rolls for 30yrs. Never thought it was a big to do. Before that I use to re roll the yarn onto a child's chair and that worked as well.
It’s funny. A designer at Red Heart reviewed crochet/knitting gadgets and said she didn’t like it much. Just FYI. I just use large plastic storage bags and make holes in the sides for the yarn to feed through
You could simply use an upright, counter top paper towel holder by.placing a disc of some sort in between the balls/cakes of yarn. DOLLAR TREE HERE I COME!!!
Where did you get your crochet hook? It’s so stinkin cute I have the Michaels yarn holder, comes with a weight stand and two rods to hold two yarns at the same time with the an area to hold additional yarn
The problem occurs when you have yarn that is so packed tightly in the middle part of the skein that it becomes almost impossible to get out. Plus so much of it knots up these days when working from the center.
seems like just another gadget, I pull the centre of the yarn out and take it from the inside... much easier, less fighting to keep the ball in one spot.
The center of skeins is generally where the knots are located. The outer edge strand has no knots, but, rolls the skein all over the place when unwinding it. Hence the holders.
Some of them come in metal and some in plastic. Depends upon the manufacturer. I'm sure if you did some searches, you can find the materials you prefer.
PS I’m loving the concept that you “don’t like wood in your house.” There’s a lot of things I can’t stand aesthetically or functionally - but I’ve never heard anyone say wood in their house is off limits entirely. Any reason? (Even some ultra modern homes have wood….ha I’m trying to come up w reasons on my own and I cannot. Deep fear of termites? I got nothin.)
Whaaaaa????? You might be the only person alive that finds it easier! Knitting is SO much more complicated IMO! I’ve tried to learn to knit so many times only to fail every time. I’ve even learned (I think it’s called if I recall correctly) Tunisian crochet that kinda looks sorta like knitting, bc I love the look of knitting but I cannot for the life of me manage it.
Oooo, this gives me an idea to use a paper towel holder for some larger skeins!!
My husband got me a toilet paper stand for my crochet threads and it works great. You can store your other ones where you would extra toilet paper
This is great idea; and will be more weighted down than ones for skeins.
My first thought. Glorified paper towel holders.
😂me too.or I use toilet paper holder too. I made a hole in my plastic ice cream tub. Put yarn it😂😂
I love how clever handworkers are!
What?! No more kicking the yarn ball all over my family room?! Holy smokes sold!!! 💸🤣
Hehe! Exactly!
Lol I relate so hard to your kicking the yarn ball all over the livingroom 😂
Or telling your little dog who likes to sit next to you as you crochet ,
“scoot over ----insert dog’s name ---you’re sitting on my yarn !!💕💕🐶😅

can't do that with crochet threads

Works really well.
Been trying to make my own from various diy things. The real ones are expensive for a college student

Smart people
another hint: a clean teapot (ideally porcelain, with glazed inside and out) can make a really good yarntidy on your coffee table
What a great idea Donna! Thanks ❤Great nails!

Excelente idea 😉
I like that very much. Thank you ☺️
You can get the string from inside the ball of yarn so you don’t have to spin it.

This is what I’ve been looking for!!
Where did you get the yarn holder
I normally get mine either on amzn or sometimes my local (usa) craft places like joanns have them in the yarn section.
I wish I can do knitting and crocheting
it's easy to learn. a lot of video's on yt . They talk a lot but you can turn the sound of .
I knew they were made for thread crochet, but I didn't know about regular yarn.
Nice.... The small cakes could do with a card or thin plastic between them ❤
C est super pratique

Use paper towel holder and save yourself a ton

Where can you buy the yarn holders?
From where did you buy the yarn holders
Mostly online, sometimes in a local craft place by the yarn.
They remind me of toilet paper rolls
O...podrias sacar el hilo desde el centro y te quitas de problemas!!

Do you get this from amazon
Are you using red heart yarn? (Hart/heart can’t remember 😂)
This one I'm using Stitch Studio by Nicole, which was a brand AC Moore crafts used to carry many years back.
@@naztazia that’s cool 😂

very nice
Thank you!
I don't like wood in my house , are they in other materials?
Some of them come in metal and some in plastic. Depends upon the manufacturer. I'm sure if you did some searches, you can find the materials you prefer.
Some folks have said they use paper towel holders instead. Those come in metal and plastic much more readily.

I've never heard skein spoken before. I thought it was pronounced like skin

Item is not on the website.
Where can I get my hands on one?
Previous replies say Amazon. Suggestions also include using a paper towel holder for a cheaper solution.
