Hi, same here I'm 81 years ,and this is my first time doing tunisian crochet.
I crochet a lot. But I want something different. I saw a pattern in a crochet magazine, at the doctors office, several years ago. Now I found the pattern. I'm scared , but with the LORD'S help I will be ok.

Stumbled on this by accident and was so very impressed with your kind and friendly style of teaching, not too fast or slow, great video. But best of all is your smooth as butter voice and no synthetic “music”. I rarely stay with videos to the end, but did here even though I am familiar with Tunisian.

I agree with your sentiments! She explains things perfectly and shows everything at a perfect pace, up close, and with no wasted time on irrelevant information. I completely understand the whole process...now it's just a matter of practice and learning how to control the tension in the yarn and develop a rhythm!

My top tip for beginners is listen to everything Toni says and you'll be fine. I was so nervous when I first tried Tunisian crochet, but Toni makes *everything* so easy and explains everything carefully, and clearly. I've been Tunisian crocheting for nearly 3 years now, and I still go back to Toni's beginners play list every once in a while, because it helps me to stay confident in my craft - and also listening to Toni explaining anything crochet is always a joy. Thank you Toni.

Thank you! I was recently given a “stash” of needlework items from my great and great-great grandparents. Three pairs of spectacles from Germany, two pairs of sewing shears, etc. There were also handmade wooden knitting needles, crochet hook and one odd looking instrument: a knitting needle with a crochet hook on the end. Also samples of work done by these women. One sample is not knitting but also not crochet. Research led me to you! My great great grandmother was doing “German crochet”; now known as Tunisian crochet. I learned a lot of history but you taught me how to use the wonderful mystery needle. Thank you! PS the wooden needles and other items date from about 1870-1900)

Holy cow, I wish I'd had this tutorial ten years ago when I tried to teach myself Tunisian crochet to make an intarsia panel for the center of a blanket!! This explains why my stitches didn't look the way other TC projects do. I was trying to do the stitches in the *loops* of each row, like traditional crochet, rather than the vertical posts.
Thank you so much for everything you teach us all on here. You're a great content creator to watch, and an even better teacher of techniques.

    Hello.
I have been searchning for teaching on tis lovely stitch. Today 02/18/24, while looking through how to: videos, your tutorial came up. When I clicked on it your beautiful face and smile was there. Your personality (so pleasant) drew me in. I use to crochet. My mother taught me at a young age. So, I mastered the Granny Square. Now, I would like to start again. After a mild stroke, I want o keep my brain active. Sorry or the lengthy response. I love how you give instructions, so I'm sold (you are my person🌹). I'm going to practice, I'll see you in your next video.👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾.

I've been afraid of Tunisian crochet for quite some time. I started out just being able to make really long chains. Over the years I've gone back and forth doing crochet projects. Now I mostly do amigurumi for fun because they're so cute! I was searching UA-cam for projects to do with one skein and came across your video for 65 one-skein projects. I noticed your Tunisian crochet videos, and I just finished this tutorial. You've done a great job taking the fear out of something that seemed so daunting. I ordered The Tunisian Crochet Handbook and a set of hooks (from your tips), and I can't wait to get started on the projects! Thank you, Toni, for being a great teacher and encourager!

I love that you went into detail about the parts of the process that can be difficult for beginners, and didn't speed up any of the crochet footage. Your clarity and approach to teaching is a step above the vast majority of youtube tutorials I've seen!
One thing that I may include just because I'm struggling with this right now, I think every tutorial should start with good hand/body stretches to do to avoid pain and injuries. I think preventing these issues is better than some one picking up a new craft then later having to look up how to manage pain. I think if more people started making this a focus and really stressing how important it is to stretch before starting a crochet/knit project, that could help a lot of people.
Thanks again for your clear tutorial! I feel ready to tackle this new craft, and much love to your family over the loss of Peanut Butter. My fluff babies are hanging out with me right now.

Hi Toni - I was very touched by your Peanut Butter tribute....what a gorgeous fur baby!!!! I too lost a beloved fur baby early this year and cherish the memories. 💜😻💜
Loved your "Learn Tunisian in under 15 mins" video! Thank you, thank you for the great video lessons on crocheting, especially Tunsian!!
I started learning this new craft in January and have just graduated to my first set of Lantern Moon hooks, a wonderful gift from my hubby for my birthday last month!!

beautiful!; One thing I've never liked about crochet was my brain always wants it to look like it has been knit. Enter Tunisian crochet! I can learn to make something that has the flat sweep of a knit with the ease of crochet. Thank you!

You're a really amazing teacher! I'm new to Tunisian crochet and will just keep watching your videos. No matter how loose I keep my stitches, it wants to curl, but I'll keep on trying :-)

Thank you for making this easy to follow for people with learning disabilities like myself. I’ve seen countless videos trying to explain this method of crochet, but I was finally able to grasp it with your video. I’ll definitely be recommending this to my other crafty friends 😊

My Aunt taught me that stitch back in the 70's. She called it the Afghan stitch. She did 3 sections crocheted them together with the popcorn stitch and cross stitched 3 large roses down each section. They were beautiful.

I learned this style of Afghan stitch style back in the 70’s with my mother. We taught ourselves from a book together and we both loved making things using these long metal hooks. We both crocheted and knitted but loved using this new style of mixing both together. This tutorial is so well done and I really love revisiting this again and making amazing projects again using this Tunisian technique. Thank you so much Toni for making this amazing video tutorial. 👍🏼🥰❤️🧶🤠

Yes, it was called the Afghan stitch or the granny stitch in the 70s that’s when I learned how to do it. I taught this in the women’s fellowship Saturday morning class at my church..and the ladies loved it. It’s so easy ..it’s really easier than regular crochet. My tip would be don’t panic if things curl a little at the beginning .. as long as you get the back up on that first row 🤔..everything evens out when you block it, You did a beautiful job teaching this.🥰👋🏽

I'm super grateful for this! I learned knitting in 2021, taught myself crochet last year (with your help!) and I'd wanted to do Tunisian, but was nervous to start. Recently I was blessed when a friend gifted me her late mother's stash, which included a partly done Tunisian project that I would love to finish, but I do not have any knowledge! Lucky me to have been watching you already, which means I can watch this video! Time to settle in and get learning ♥

I’ve been crocheting for 47 years and love learning new stitches. I am also a left-handed crochet-er; drove my aunt nuts because my work was “backwards” 😉. When I saw the Tunisian stitch I knew I had to try it - it is so neat and tidy. You explained and demonstrated it so well I know I can give it a try. I’ll let you know how it turns out. Thank you! 🦋

I have been struggling with this stitch. I have watch several videos and nothing turned out. All my squares look horrible. Then I found this one and it is FANTASTIC. Steps are beginner friendly. Everything is explained incredibly well. I finally got it and have done 5 squares in about half an hour. Now that I understand it so well and it looks AMAZING..... this is my most favorite stitch. Thank you so much for the best tutorial I have ever seen.

I found this by accident as I was browsing on UA-cam for crochet ideas. I just started a tunisian practice piece a couple of weeks ago. You were much clearer about that end stitch and where to put the hook than the other site I used. I now know I've not been hitting the correct spot consistently. I have subscribed to your channel as I know where I most want to go for help! Thank you so much for a VERY clear and enjoyable lesson!

Thank you for staying on topic while you spoke rather than chasing rabbits by telling your thought processes. Your video was concise and I like that. I’ll be following your UA-cam channel to learn more.😊

Was gifted a lot of knitting and crochet tools, including a few Tunisian crochet hooks. Thanks for this tutorial! It was easy to follow along. I'm more a knitter than a crocheter, so making the analogies to knitting was quite helpful.
    Thanks for this!
