Man it seems like a winch up there would be Mandatory! I would not be out there running around by myself without one. I enjoyed the raw footage. That storm was no joke and we (south of PDX) were without power for 11 days. Thankful for wood stoves and generators! Like the extra touches on your channel and looking forward to drawing inspiration when I finally do some light modifications to my 2016 4Runner.
Thank goodness for modern communication devices or he'd have been in a whole different scenario. Fortunately, he is a legit outdoorsman that can handle just about anything. I think he must eat carbs outdoors everyday !

I grew up in Oregon(Dayton/Lafayette) and I lived in Oregon City. My Dad now lives in Rockaway Beach and I have to take HWY 26 to go visit him. I have seen that road so bad that they actually closed it! Good off roading in the snow!

Great job on the assist! My poor man's winch is a come-along and snatch blocks. It's got me out of a few deep snow spots. I up-graded to a drill winch, which is a little less work. The little drill winch works great for yarding out some nice campfire wood too.

I was on the Metolius River a few days ago. Caught a couple of 10 - 12 inchers. Nothing special but made a Fly Fish Hunter reference during the narration. I think you'll get a kick out of it. I'll let you know when I post the footage.

This shows how real it could get fast mate. Thats a crazy amount of snow and if you hadnt of been heading out there old mate could have been in alot of trouble.
It's fun driving in the snow but getting stuck sucks. We had one truck at work go into a ditch and then another trying to pull it out. Took us hours to get out of that mess. 👍
For some weird reason, I think it is fun. I guess I think of it as skill building. So, you can handle it when you are seriously deep in remote country.

Ha ha so true! The thing that was amazing to me is that there was not a single tree around except for that giant stump that was in the perfect position for a winch extraction. Talk about lucky! He actually now has a new bumper and winch on that Tacoma! Cheers and all the best for 2022!

Thanks ! The winch is an under the bumper mount. So, it does not take up much room. They even have winches now that will slide into trailer hitches.
