This recovery showed a lot of skill and trust in your equipment. Really challenging with the equipment you used and those crazy pull angles! Thanks for taking us along!
They suck, they don’t know recovery , no chains on the pulling tires for example, toe points are incorrect lack of good direction and poor organization,,,this was a basic small vehicle recovery they made look difficult
Have thought that too. I know Matt prioritizes low weight over equipment, but there are tiny LED flashers that weigh basically nothing and would add some safety in several situations. Bet the flashers, wiring, and switch would add less than five pounds to each vehicle.
Greetings from Finland, from middle of the snow. Cool to watch out these videos, great job! Maybe try using a wide tire or a big rim (perhaps more stable prevent falling) on that edge to raise the winch rope higher, so that the pull does not come against the edge, this way the rear of the towed car rises a little before coming over the edge to flat. I´ve been using this trick couple of times to get towed vehicle rising a little bit, of course it need´s a solid ground or some sturdy stuff underneath that wheel.
Considering they’re using two ropes/winches to pull it out - I don’t see how that’d be feasible Also they’re on the very edge of the hill and their winches are above their front bumpers How they’re going to get a wheel underneath that, i have no clue. I see what your logic is but that doesn’t seem very reasonable considering the conditions.
@@ac3tate909 of course situations and equipments are different, like you said they had two strong winches to pull, so they got it out that way. I mean that moment when they back up and started to drag vehicle ovet the edge, in about 15 minute in video, when towed vehicle is still over edge, in that point if you get winch line higher and off from ground, that would help a bit. At least if you have weak winch and poor grip, thats my experience. Log is also good. And in my case, these were situations I haven’t prepared at all, so had to go with those equipment I had and found.
I'm convinced that these guys are geniuses. Yeah it takes a lot of experience and know-how to do this. Also though, there is some hardcore understanding of physics principals here too. Like in the same way how farmers are genius.
@georgevinson612 Probably correct. Is is really amazing how sharp you can turn if you just let off the brakes. To anyone that doubts this, go find a deserted slick parking lot and see just how sharp the car/truck will turn if you do not apply the brakes. After you do this, try the same turn at the same speed, but this time apply the brakes. It will be readily apparent.
I've been waiting for this post. I passed you guys recovering this car on the way up to Georg's ski shop. I was telling Georg and Robbie all about you guys. Great videos and nice work on this recovery.

As impressive as the recoveries are, I'm always amazed at Matt out there in the cold with just a short sleeve shirt on. He must be part polar bear. We just had a front come through yesterday and the temps dropped like a rock. It is currently 46° and sunny here in South Florida. I'm inside and I'm cold just watching this video. I don't know how he does it.
Me, too! My hands would've been frozen in no time, esp. as they said it was ZERO. As for temps, I think we adjust to wherever we're living. Back in LA, a rare 46F would've been what we called "bone-chilling", but here in Boston where I'm from, that's mild for winter. Yet to hear SoFL is still that cold, after the conditions there over the holidays, is kinda depressing.
1) he's doing physical work, which keeps him warm. 2) wearing more clothing would cause overheating and sweating, followed by freezing due to the sweat. everyone here does this. 3) you have been acclimated to warm weather.
Just wanted to say thanks for making clean videos with no cussing... my 4 year old son loves watching you guys (me too), and I don't have to worry about bad language. I also note he has me call out the weather forecast when I drive him to preschool.
Good thing your kid's ears are safe until he goes to school and is surrounded by swearing children and traumatized by it because his dad was overly careful about protecting him from such a harmless activity.
Good on you guys for pulling it out with what you had to work with. Can't be easy. We just send a 5 ton wrecker and it's a cake walk. Or with a semi down the bank we send one of our rotators. But what you guys can do with with 20,000 worth of old cars is impressive. When we get compliments on our recoveries I alway chuckle, because we have a huge fleet millions invested and having all the tools basically takes the skill out of. I have newbies that could pull that car out in their sleep with our little 5 ton wreckers, but these same newbies couldn't pull a shopping cart with the rigging you guys have. Good on you guys, I'm amazed at what you accomplish
Wow, that was impressive. To do that without a big rotator... nothing but respect here. Bet you're all going to be sleeping good tonight, lots of work to dig all that heavy snow. Welcome to Canada... I mean Utah.
Why wouldn’t you use a Winder Towing rollback for this recovery? Seems like that may have been a better option? Still a really impressive recovery. It’s great watching how your whole crew works together and looks out for everyone else’s safety.
Def a rollback would have let them pick over the edge at the top. With them pulling on the wheels there's no way the rear wheels would have turned. Even if it was four-wheel drive which I don't think it was. This guy got into this accident because he was driving too fast with touring all season tires.
Working on the road was always a concern for me, drivers dont see you until its too late when they are not paying attention, and you guys were working right on a curve.
I love your work but I think you should definitely be using Winch Dampners over your winch ropes (dead weights) that take the energy if / when the winch ropes break. You talk about the triangle of death. Sorry, but when a rope breaks it can cover an extremely wide area that can easily kill or maim anyone and anything it hits.
The whole time I was watching this I could only think this would be the perfect inaugural job for the new wrecker! You all need to get that thing done!
I've watched you guys pull out a lot of stuff, but this was definitely the most impressive. Great job! I can't wait to see what you recover with the wrecker.
Hi, A steep pull especially difficult over the edge. Not easy. We had a similar occurrence and used a large steel gas cylinder on the edge to allow the pulling rope to run/slip over...worked quite well. Acted like a wheel turning. No snow and no traffic though! Enjoy watching your videos.

I've questioned the reliability of the Badlands Apex 12k for a long time. But Matt and Paul have shown what these things can do. My dad and stepmom bought me one as a combined birthday and Christmas present. And this video made me a complete believer in these Apex winches. I'm sure there were cool down cycles but good lord that was a lot of hard winching. Matt wasn't kidding when he said that was a job for a twin line wrecker. Great job Matt and crew.
You guys had me 😬 super concerned for a few moments there (especially seeing some of your guys facial expressions 🤣) BUT Matt and Team inevitably got over that HUMP, at end there - reminding me of their collective strength while always staying humble and with their never give up attitude - THIS time, 1st UP, and then yet again, OUT!
This was an epic recovery, well done! Seeing this recovery, I'm curious why you don't have orange light bars for these vehicles? Even if they're removable ones?
Now I could see the advantage of a modified front stinger to aid with vertical pulling in these situations. Much respect to Matt and his team. They always get the job done safely. I don’t always quite understand the methods and equipment, and that’s okay. Love this channel.
a wrecker with some sort of boom would have been MUCH more appropriate for this recovery. Less hectic and easier. I often wonder why Matt is the person that does these recoveries when there are closer/more capable options. And pulling from the wheel? Even unibody vans have holes in the 'frame' for hooks. Come on now.
@@rndmprsn3532 If you've ever pulled on one of these rigs, you would know that those holes that you speak of would not hold. Plus with the angles they were working with the lines would have been into the body of the van causing further damage. Hooking to the wheels was absolutely the right call.
@@simpledj509chromo7 did you read? The equipment they brought out was not proper. I can't understand why Matt is called for these types of recoveries. There are so many recovery companies that are closer and have better (actual wreckers with booms) trucks. This feels staged.
@@rndmprsn3532 You're the one that's not reading. Matt said and I repeated that he said this was a job for a twin line wrecker. And it certainly wasn't staged. Doesn't Matt lessen the charge or pull people out for free when he's making content for UA-cam? I think that's part of why the people that know about him call him. That tow bill, at least in my area would have easily been a couple grand or more up a pass like that.

Enjoying your videos Matt , I did a similar recovery, minus the snow and found that a rope pulley came in super handy for doubling my line pull and being able to direct the load 👍
Matt with no jacket? Situation normal. Matt with sunglasses? It's a bright day! Snow dune! This was one tough recovery. Heavy wrecker would have been handy. :-)
Even a regular wrecker would have been nice so it could lift up with the boom rather than pull into the hill like the winches. It may have also helped cut down the need to dig out so much...

Good job, I think the VAN was perfectly drivable, just cosmetic, mostly on the front from the tree, little on the side too, but nothing leaking, it was capable to drive fine.

Definitely a difficult recover, would have been nice to have a roll off wrecker to get it of the snow berm though would have been far less angle. See y'all next week at the Winter Jamboree!!!😃
15:21 somebody says that the back tires are not spinning at all.. Well its a front wheel drive and I hope that the rear tires are not spinning seeing how that is where the ropes are attached to. 🤔
This recovery had me on the edge of my seat. It was hanging so long. Every time you repositioned a vehicle I was nervous. Great job Matt and the whole crew!
Hell of a recovery! Agree with others that Tom is a great addition to the team. He has a calm energy and I like how he tries to improve Matt's fabrication techniques 🤣. Agree with another comment also that the camera work was really good in this one. Great video.
I wonder if digging the snowbank down to pavement in the first place would have helped. And for breakovers like that you need to hook on to the front wheels and pull there at the break over point. At the end you were pulling the van INTO the hill, not up the hill by pulling on the rear wheels and a horizontal pull from the rigs, that is why it was so hard at the end. Good job at figuring it out and getting it out with what you had.
Well for once, I thought you had bitten off more than you could chew Matt and crew, but I was wrong I am pleased to say, that was an outstanding recovery guys, nice one. Stay safe and I look forward to the next one.
Nice work, as always! I see you obviuosly needed the car to idle to prevent it from hopping into park or something, but I do not know if I would want it to idle the whole time on that super steep slope. I doubt there was very much oil around the pickup.

They suck, they don’t know recovery , no chains on the pulling tires for example, toe points are incorrect lack of good direction and poor organization,,,this was a basic small vehicle recovery they made look difficult
@@abeneufeld9690 they did great some people wouldn’t touch that with a wrecker. But you are comment section warrior I’m sure you know best.

Good morning everybody !! I think Matt needs to add yellow indicator lights to all his recovery vehicles
warning light on portable stand put before the curve,
Have thought that too.
Or you can just let Kimi drive it off the cliff.
Short log.
Considering they’re using two ropes/winches to pull it out - I don’t see how that’d be feasible
Also they’re on the very edge of the hill and their winches are above their front bumpers
How they’re going to get a wheel underneath that, i have no clue.
Watching Matt use his brain and all the tools he had simply brilliant
You guys never cease to amaze me. Didn't seem possible to get that one out without the wrecker, but here we are!! Bravo, guys... bravo!!

So many things that could have gone wrong.. but in the end, a successful recovery. Well done.
Found your channel today! Subscribed and watched recovery videos all day while I am home sick. Love the content. It looks like you all love what you do! Cheers.
The cold never bothered him anyway
wim hof
Me in rainy cold Seattle at 46° underneath an electric blanket on high.... I'm always cold
That had to be a terrifying van ride so happy no one was seriously injured . Great recovery video.
This is definitely extreme recovery. Great job guys.
Having heart attacks watching the Banana and Movair moving forward and getting ever closer.. wow. what a challenging recovery!!!
Epic rescue, coordinating that many people and three vehicles shows the tremendous skills of Matt and his Merry Men!
Your crew did such an amazing job on this recovery!
Why would you need a rotator? All you need is a F-550 sized wrecker. Simple recovery
Why wouldn’t you use a Winder Towing rollback for this recovery? Seems like that may have been a better option?
Still a really impressive recovery. It’s great watching how your whole crew works together and looks out for everyone else’s safety.
At bare minimum a rollback. But ideally this is a rotator job.
I was wondering the same thing!
I thought the same, the roll back must have pretty strong heavy duty winches, no?
not as many viewers of his regular tow truck videos, the offroad wrecker will create more views even if it was winching from the side of a road.😉
Yup, that's quite dangerous
The whole time I was watching this I could only think this would be the perfect inaugural job for the new wrecker! You all need to get that thing done!
I've watched you guys pull out a lot of stuff, but this was definitely the most impressive. Great job!
I can't wait to see what you recover with the wrecker.
You had me at the edge of my chair watching this recovery. GREAT JOB EVERYONE
Hi,
A steep pull especially difficult over the edge. Not easy.
We had a similar occurrence and used a large steel gas cylinder on the edge to allow the pulling rope to run/slip over...worked quite well. Acted like a wheel turning.
No snow and no traffic though!
Enjoy watching your videos.
Love it when you guys do difficulty recovery. they are so entertaining and fun to watch. Keep up the good work MORR!!
Great recovery. It’s nice to see the team challenged and working well together. Those winches are amazing as well.
It amazes me how strong the winch ropes are not to break . Nice recovery and thanks for the video
This is well within the strength of those lines so long as they're not heavily abraded and kinked
Absolutely love the Corvair wagon!! 😍
And you guys did an amazing job minimizing further damage on that Toyota. Especially under such difficult conditions. Nice work. 👍
The camera angles and shots were really good on this episode, the overview angles made it seem more immersive 👍
Once again Matt shows his knowledge and ingenuity which makes the MOR videos entertaining always. Be safe guys
Great work! Fun viewing.
Really good to see the team work so well and watching each other’s back keeping things as safe as possible.
During a commercial, I was going to say..Well done!!... assuming the best because I was already impressed...but then I thought.."What if this thing totally goes downhill...literally!!"
Great ending...such suspence!!! I really enjoyed watching this. It shows what dangers, and the hard work you folks do to get people out of situations. Keep ot up! You have a subscriber. Good job camera and all crew!!
Struggle was real on that one. Good job guys.
I was pretty worried about using the wheels to strap to. I had no idea that wheels are that strong. Impressive, and good to know!
That was wild! Felt like I was watching an episode of Highway Thru Hell. Can't wait to see the Worlds largest off road wrecker make this kind of thing look like a piece of cake. As always, great content MORR!

Enjoying your videos Matt ,
I did a similar recovery, minus the snow and found that a rope pulley came in super handy for doubling my line pull and being able to direct the load 👍
@@bkind2182 could have tried using spare tires under the winch line to lift the pull angle.

Great job Matt and crew! With the amount of snow recoveries you have been doing lately I’m surprised you haven’t built tire chains for your rigs
I will tell you guy what, I worked in a wrecker for years and you guys did a hell of a job with what you had. Nice job.
Still, after watching countless of your videos, I still keep getting amazed at how good a crew you all are. Seems to me that all of you take jokes well, work hard, and just get along very well. That's gold, congrats on that! Makes the videos really nice to watch, on top of the action of course! Cheers!
Great recovery guys. Tom really is an ace!
What a cool recovery. Definitely was a job for a wrecker but glad y'all got it out ultimately!
Good job, I think the VAN was perfectly drivable, just cosmetic, mostly on the front from the tree, little on the side too, but nothing leaking, it was capable to drive fine.
I love Matt's Response for "Aren't you cold?" That is my Response 90% of the time... "Feel my arm" as I'm standing in a snow storm in a short sleeve shirt lol.
That was an epic recovery, good job everyone.
If I ever stick, I would want your team to recover my vehicle

I thought the same thing.
does idling for an hour or two matter that much if the RPMs are low?
@@TheAmericanDalaiLamaobviously no mechanics here asking of oiling
