At first the navigation system would not calculate long trips but that has since been corrected with the system update which is now available. Pass on it, I have a 2022 w/Advanced and my dad has 2017 RX the fully loaded one with the overpriced interior and sound system only available in 2017. The RX is a much better car in nearly all respects. Actually my dad dropped me off at RSW airport yesterday (Fort Myers) and I noticed how much more intuitive the navigation system and central console was. The map is very dynamic and has three parts, the left side shows current on route close up, the right side shows on route overhead zoomed out and the center display shows the next few turns and mileage and pertinent info. When you stop at a light, the left and center screens become your front and surround cameras while the right screen overlays your on route navigation directions. Try that on the 2022 MDX…. Acura had years to get things right in their new flagship and failed in several critical areas.
Stay away from the base and tech. Also listen for tranny whining noises at 30 mph and above. It is a high pitch tone and Acura says it is normal. Spend your money elsewhere.
You completely ignored the Honda's timing belt, direct injection, and yet another new transmission. While Toyota stays with bullet proof timing chains, combination direct injection on top of port injection eliminating the carbon buildup problem, and very well proven Aisin transmissions. These things don’t matter if you trade in 2-3 years. But if you buy at 80k or more and plan to run to 250k, these are very important factors.
The RX350 has a chain drive timing that usually lasts the life of the engine while the MDX has a timing belt that needs changed= $$$ Just something to consider too.
Probably zero difference in maintenance cost if you keep your vehicles 100,000 miles or less. The recommended time period for the Acura timing belt is 7 years or 105,000 miles. The timing belt only needs to be changed once if you are under 210,000 miles or the 14 years time period for the Acura.
Just bought the 2022 MDX. Beats all the luxury SUV'S in every way. The RX 3rd row is a joke. TEST DROVE EVERYTHING AND MDX BLOWS THEM AWAY. PICK UP MY METALIC RED ONE MONDAY. ALL PAID FOR, LOVE HUGE STORAGE, SILENT INSIDE, GREAT DRIVE QUALITY, BIG SIX THAT NEEDS NO TURBO, AND STOPS ON A DIME. ALL NEW DESIGN INSIDE AND OUT! SO WELL THOUGHT OUT. GREAT JOB ACURA!
So...you like Acura's copied exterior version of the Mazda CX9 and copied interior color combination of the Lexus RX then. And how Acura missed the mark by not including a touch-screen.
@@TheAnonymous916 no, he likes how it offers best in class value, driving dynamics that are on par with german vehicles, which the RX could never match. He also likes how it offers much more space than the RX, and i'm not so sure what you mean about copying the interior color combination? do you mean that acura is offering color schemes that every other single brand offers? what a surprise.... lets face it, in its class, the RX does not the dynamics, storage, features, modernity, and etc. compared to its competition. the only real reason people buy the RX is because of the Lexus badge thats on it. it is arguably one of the last in class only in front of the Infiniti QX60. And, on top of that, the touchpad is 1:1 positioning. its like using a touch screen, its just closer to your fingertips (more ergonomic.)
@@alanboginskey5458 it’s nothing like using a touchscreen, it sucks (I have an rdx) and needs to go. Everyone is doing touchscreen now, Acura is so behind in this regard.
I purchased the 2022 MDX A Spec and have driven it over 1000 miles. I find it to be a much better selection over the Lexus. Maybe the 2020 MDX was sub standard to then RX but not the 2022. No comparison. MDX is more comparable now to the X5.plus the MDX has real leather. As well. Not the fake leather the RX has.
Um, the rx has real leather lol. And the mdx also has fake leather. They both have fake leather at their base trims. You don’t even have a touchscreen yet in the MDX.
Had an Acura MDX back in 2006. Traded it in for a Honda Pilot in 2014. Now I am back in a 2020 MDX and really happy with it. Being able to haul around my family of six definitely came into play when choosing it.
I drive MDX 2017 and will be upgrading at some point to the same model. The main feature that I love about MDX is lane assist, which is really great on longer trips. I tried many other SUVs and none of them have such a great lane assist (I have not driven Tesla but assume it has to have even better one).
@BhigBlakkMagic I still owe a 2010 MDX since 2013 and I’ve never been stranded on the road 🤷🏽♂️, and the price range on these two vehicles is about the same so your comment makes no sense
Just a note rx450 gets maybe 20% better gas mileage but it requires premium fuel where the rx 350 takes regular. Depending where you are premium fuel is 20-25 % more expensive.
no one uses premium in the hybrid though. plenty of people online report doing this with no issues or any difference in gas mileage, performance, relibility, etc.. in fact, when you buy the car from the dealership they give it to you with regular gas lol
For those who dislike the timing belt in MDX vs timing chain in RX: timing belt makes no noise, engines sounds smoother than with chain, while chain makes some noise, and with time the chain expands a bit causing the drop of performance a bit too. The cost of changing timing belt every 100K miles is negligible comparing to the car price, also the fun and pleasure driving MDX worth much more than the cost of the belt. Changing the timing belt is not a complicated procedure, but standard for ACURA's and does not cost that much. I test drove several RX's and after I drove one 2022 MDX I fell in love with it, and finally bought it.
Lexus is King 👑 There’s no comparison here! Acura can’t touch Lexus. Lexus is the single best luxury brand, the most reliable, most luxurious, highest quality, highest resale value, and the most beautifully named car brand ever. #Lexus
Just got my MDX with advance package. I have driven the RX before and I would say the Lexus have smoother and quieter ride. MDX is much roomier than the RX.
to be honest the rx looks so much better on the outside, the triple beam leds look really good. yes the acura may have a better interior, but the lexus has outstanding interior quality compared to the acura. we will just have wait until the 2022 rx i guess.
I work with Honda/Acura and Toyota/ Lexus with new model projects. Toyota is the nice people to work with. Honda can't make up they're minds till 2 weeks before mass production
Good comparison - but unless I missed it, you didn't say the Lexus was more comfortable than the Acura - RX has softer ride combined with very comfortable seats (which you DID mention). Acura is going for better handling and more 'sporty' experience. That's a big differentiating factor. Also, I don't know if the Acura engine has only direct injection (GDI) or has the addition of port injection like the RX which keeps the valves clean and avoids that maintenance area.
@@SammyZChannel I deal with molds for MDX and Pilots , practically the same but one says Honda , the other says Acura. The new Acura is in production, I'm waiting for the Pilot molds. They show up in September. Mass production starts next year
RX is a very nice vehicle but it desperately needs to be updated and a better 3rd row, the front is too over done IMO, My vote goes to 2022 MDX until Lexus comes out with an redesign model.
I think the Acura is more sporty performance oriented and the Lexus IS more comfort oriented and more reliable. Both are great choices. Depends on what your looking for.
Just purchased an MDX over the Lexus. I liked the feel of the Lexus's driving, but the infotainment system felt like it was from 2012 and the Lexus's overall looks seem like something my grandparents would think is cool. The Lexus just felt like an old persons car.
Having both these cars.. the mdx is great for long trips, more comfortable ride, better infotainment, trunk is significantly larger with the 3rd row down.. rx450 is more sportier, refined interior.. more fun to drive even though both are quick for a v6 luxury suv.
All great information. Hopefully in the future you are able to also drive the cars and we get your opinion and scores on driving dynamics, comfort etc...

I have a 2013 RDX and it has been a wonderful car. I really like Acura and want to stay with them. The 2022 MDX sounds great, but I think it is time to consider hybrid and electric cars. I don't know why Acura removed this option in 2022.
I have a 2016 RX450h that replaced the 2006 RX400h that got totalled while parked. They both have CVTs. I like the LRV like shiftless drive. Some like paddles and gear shifting. The 2006 was peppier and I like the ride. I have gotten used to the 2016 ride. Too taut for me. The 2006 had about 70K on it. The auto body shop bought it from me. The 2016 hasn't reached 20K yet. Acura turns up its nose at Hybrids before and now after briefly offering them. I can still remember the Honda Insight. I do city driving and a lot of idling. Back when I would drive for weekends between Boston and Montreal, carrying a traction battery isn't that helpful...there is electric assist up the hills, and regeneration down the hilly terrain. And now there is a V8 gas Tesla...convert a Tesla Model S into a combustion-powered sedan with a Chevy Camaro V8 hiding under the frunk! Yes frunk. Frunk is a popular portmanteau of front and trunk referring to cars that have their storage spaces in the front rather than in the rear.
@@carhelpcorner - I agree. It gets easier as you use it more. There's nothing "difficult" about it once your muscle memory picks up the 1:1 functionality. I came from the 2019 RDX that pioneered the True Touchpad Interface, so it was a piece of cake for me in the MDX. I actually like it.
I’ve been a Lexus guy for 10 years (06 GS430 & 05 LS430), recently purchased a 2020 RDX and thought the same thing about the touchpad but you do get used it and I actually like it now.

Sucks how Acura doesn't offer the A-Spec Technolgy Package. Also missing touchscreen, which should be the norm in this generation of cars. A few missed opportunities here.
Sorry but Acura is not reliable with its limp mode issue (I say this as someone who experienced limp mode with my rdx on the highway). I’ll take a reliable dinosaur, at least it won’t stop in the middle of the highway. Or make a loud popping sound every time I drive over the slightest incline. Maybe the Lexus infotainment system won’t crash/lag/freeze so frequently as the acura. And just how modern is the mdx without a touchscreen? In 2021?!
I’m going to say what everyone else is thinking… RX350…100%! The MDX is OK… But if you want to have a car that lasts over a decade… You’re going to have to pick the RX 350!
Wait for the new body style 2022' Lexus RX for a fair comparison. Lexus has been a superior brand over Acura for years though this MDX is very special...
Please Compare Acura RDX bs Lexus RX350 in terms Luxury , Value and Reliability. In my opinion RX350 is more comparable to RDX instead MDX due to volume/cargo capacity.
I went with 2022 lexus with options price was 51,500 the 2022 base mdx was 56+ 3k market adjustment fee. ive seen pilots and highlanders selling for the same prices my gut tells me when 2023 rx models arrive add it with options they are going to be selling for 60k.
Over the years I leased 2 MDX, 2 BMW X5, and currently Lexus RX 350 F Sports. In terms of performance, handling, and luxury, the X5 has crystal clear advantage. But if you just need a reliable car to go to places, the Lexus is not a bad choice.
Thanks, appreciate your reply. I love all the cars I owned, but in terms of 4 wheel drive, based on my experience, German and Japanese cars are totally in different leagues. I didn’t mention I also leased Audi, its all wheel drive leave the Japanese cars very far behind.
Might have missed it but don’t forget to tell people that the Acura has a timing belt and not a chain so they will shell out over a grand every 80 or 90 k miles. I’ll take a chain over that every time.
The perfect car would be the RX350 with the MDX technology. Lexus and Toyota are so far behind Honda/Acura with the screens/ navigation/ wireless Apple CarPlay, etc. While the MDX is beautiful and sporty, I don’t think of sporty when I think of luxury, especially with an SUV. Test drove the RX and it is as smooth and quiet and luxurious as you can imagine. However, the screen in between my gas and speedometer is tiny and confusing. The only thing worse is the main screen which looks like I’m playing Super Mario brothers on an Atari. I ended up buying the Acura simply because the base model comes with everything I love standard. It has a fully digital and beautiful gauge cluster. Then the main screen is 12.3 and hi-res. Panoramic moonroof, wireless CarPlay. All standard in the base model instead of paying extra on the RX. The only thing I don’t like is the ride is a little harsher than the RX and not as quiet.
drove the mdx and my friend has the rx we both drove from tampa to miami switch half way, while coming back he refuse to get his rx said he felt confortable in the mdx mdx for life
I replaced the 2019 RX350 sport with the 2022 MDX last month. RX350 has advantages in appearance, paint, workmanship, and the overall manufacturing level of the vehicle. 2022 MDX has advantages in driving pleasure, seat comfort, four-wheel drive performance, onboard software, fuel consumption, and price. The main reason why I change cars is that the seat of sports RX350 is not suitable for long-time driving. What's more, it has no driving pleasure and is more suitable for women.
Wow, what a sexist comment. Seriously dude?? So women don’t appreciate drive pleasure? I’m a woman and I got an rdx for the drive pleasure. Also, the mdx does not have “four-wheel drive” but all wheel drive technology. You are clueless and have no idea what you’re talking about. Please check yourself.
The only MDX hybrid was the 17-20 MDX Sport Hybrid in tech or Advance trims. It was a performance hybrid, not a mpg hybrid. It had 3.0L PI V6 engine, 3 electric motors, 7DCT, 321hp/289tq, regen braking, tq vectoring, electronic dampers for comfort or sport mode, under 6 second 0-60 times, 425-450 mile range with the 19 gal gas tank, could take 87-93 octane, and mpgs in the 25-27 city and 26-28 hwy range.
I am undecided between these two, and believe it or not, the new highlander as well. I prefer the seating in RX (same as Highlander 2017-2019) as it’s very deep, however, MDX seems sportier with the upgrader infotainment and that adjustable middle seat in the second row is a great feature. Although not as classy central consol (I personally find it nice), Highlander has great central screen, space usability, and I believe it shares the same v6 engine with the Lexus (perhaps Lexus’ engine slightly different tuning , better). I also heard Lexus will be redesigning the rx model but will it still have 6 cylinder engine? I like the handling on the mdx, but RX is not lagging behind with their smooths transmission. Can anyone shed some light, share their opinion, it would be greatly appreciated. Cheers
2022 is the end of the fabulous 3.5L V6. all 4 cylinder in 2023 suppose it won't be a 350 any more as that is why it was branded RX350- the 350 stood for 3.5 litre
The major problem with the MDX are the brake rotors; at the first 60 mph emergency stop brakes start pulsating. Same issue in both MDX 2016 and 2017 I’ve owned. Currently looking to trade-in the 2017 for a Lexus RX450h or Volvo XC90 Recharge. The X90 with 400hp is very appealing and larger, but $10K more expensive and with lower resale value. With the trend on gas prices, hybrid is the way to go.

Acura, Honda have a better performance winning 4 track races in a row, better technology , space, sound system.
@@TheAnonymous916 Acura copied the exterior from Mazda? You must be blind
@@alanboginskey5458 it’s nothing like using a touchscreen, it sucks (I have an rdx) and needs to go. Everyone is doing touchscreen now, Acura is so behind in this regard.
Hey, wait, I was going to get a red one! Lol!
Acura definitely did an amazing job
My 2020 RX has real leather!
I am 100% sure the Lexus has real leather
Um, the rx has real leather lol. And the mdx also has fake leather. They both have fake leather at their base trims. You don’t even have a touchscreen yet in the MDX.
@@88hemoglobin um, I don’t have the base trim! Um, I have touchscreen!LOL!
If you’re looking for a 7 passenger SUV then Acura is the way to go
100% agree
Even for a 5 seater mdx is the better choice 😂
@BhigBlakkMagic I still owe a 2010 MDX since 2013 and I’ve never been stranded on the road 🤷🏽♂️, and the price range on these two vehicles is about the same so your comment makes no sense

I like MDX but I end up with RX350 because it has no moonroof. I’m glad I bought the RX350.
Just a note rx450 gets maybe 20% better gas mileage but it requires premium fuel where the rx 350 takes regular. Depending where you are premium fuel is 20-25 % more expensive.
no one uses premium in the hybrid though. plenty of people online report doing this with no issues or any difference in gas mileage, performance, relibility, etc.. in fact, when you buy the car from the dealership they give it to you with regular gas lol
great review. I liked the way he compares them and gives his professional choice of either one.
Thank you!
Lexus is King 👑
There’s no comparison here! Acura can’t touch Lexus. Lexus is the single best luxury brand, the most reliable, most luxurious, highest quality, highest resale value, and the most beautifully named car brand ever. #Lexus
I own 2017 mdx. It ran very good and worth the price...
Just got my MDX with advance package. I have driven the RX before and I would say the Lexus have smoother and quieter ride. MDX is much roomier than the RX.
Do you have any issue with technology? I heard MDX is having some technology issues like showing wrong speed, disconnect apple airplay
@@paultridip Nope. No issue on my iPhone 11 Pro Max with iOS 15.1 on CarPlay or any weird things I’ve heard as well.
to be honest the rx looks so much better on the outside, the triple beam leds look really good. yes the acura may have a better interior, but the lexus has outstanding interior quality compared to the acura. we will just have wait until the 2022 rx i guess.
Outstanding work on the comparison, definitely the MDX it's better looking vehicle in my opinion. Thanks
Mdx for the win no brainer here
i just got a new 2020 lexus rx450hl luxury and i Love IT
I like the hybrids and given that no mention was made of a hybrid model in the acura, I'm going with the lexus
Lexus is a leader when it comes to hybrids. Definitely a great choice.
Great Job
Thank You.
Strongly considering
The Advance Package MDX
Yea my dad just got it its great!
Acura MDX all the Way!! Much more advanced and superior style!
Overpriced/ Over engineered.

Thanks!
Longer term ownership Lexus no timing belt to change
Lexus is super reliable but that grill woooow is it ever HIDEOUS!!
RX is a very nice vehicle but it desperately needs to be updated and a better 3rd row, the front is too over done IMO,
My vote goes to 2022 MDX until Lexus comes out with an redesign model.
I think the Acura is more sporty performance oriented and the Lexus IS more comfort oriented and more reliable. Both are great choices. Depends on what your looking for.
I love the The Acura MDX it vary good i’m considering of getting one 👏
I have a 2018 MDX in the shop because of a short in the gear shift box. It is costing me $570 to get it fixed. I’m not happy about that.
Lexus interior is timeless but it does maybe need a bit more of an upgrade . The mdx is really nice though
What a great uncomplicated review. Subscribing
Great video thank for being non biased
Just purchased an MDX over the Lexus. I liked the feel of the Lexus's driving, but the infotainment system felt like it was from 2012 and the Lexus's overall looks seem like something my grandparents would think is cool. The Lexus just felt like an old persons car.
Do you have any issue with technology? I heard MDX is having some technology issues like showing wrong speed, disconnect apple airplay
Both are great. I own RX 350.
My wife and me own MDX and RX. I would recommend MDX.
You meant 2022 MDX?
Lexus all the way. Really comfortable, great ride and always reliable.
Acura all the way.
I do drive the cars but in-car filming is just a ton of time and work! I'm hoping to get to that point by the summer
Love the RX but a lot of them get stolen while parked on the driveway. 2 of my friends living in different part of the HAD had their stolen.
Sounds like it's not a lexus issue but a priority purchase
sounds like relay theft, they may need to look into getting a faraday box or anti relay theft technology..you can search author iglas
You can protect them and insure them with Smith & Wesson.
I just bought an MDX! I Gotta say I really love it!
I got a Lexus 450Hl last Friday and it’s really comfy fast and fancy inside I really love it 😍
Same only thing I dont like is how difficult it is to enter addresses in the nav. If the voice command can recognize the address no issues but typing out the whole address w no suggestions sucks
Nice 👍
I have a question 🙋♂️
Fuel economy you said:(
1st you pa for hybrid $-12-15k
And Until you pay off that you need a new battery $-6-8k and then electric motor $-6-8k sow how it’s more efficient ? you never return that money back so actually you lose more money 💰 LOL
It’s just a mat motor vehicle they try to rip off custom :( or dumb people can calculate they say more efficient :(
I had 1st car
2003 Acura CL typeS manual
2nd car
2005 Acura RL Super Hendley
3rd car
2013 Lexus RX350 50/50 their customer service is not good :(
Warranty sucks they rip off customers :(
Not the way people say it’s a quality my brother had a Lexus twice rebuilding the engine & my mom had a Lexus transmission went out :(
So I went back to Acura
Just ordered
2022 Acura MDX Advance super handling , liquid carbon outside color and espresso interior :)
Very helpful comparison of these two vehicles, but I think you downplayed just how difficult it is to use the Acura touchpad.
Thanks! It does get easier after you live with it for a while. It mostly leaves a bad first impression
At least the Acura touchpad is a lot better than Lexus I mousepad, that’s the worst one
Hi, which one should I buy? The RX or MDX, I already have a Acura TL 2014. I really like the MDX design. However, I heard people saying the new MDX have problems with engine and the transmission. It will not last long in Long-term on the MdX. Please give me an advice.
I would go Lexus RX 350 just because I’ve had plenty of Toyota’s and I know they’re reliable and I know they’re good cars too! But I have no problem with Accra’s ether!!🤠
* Acura

Sucks how Acura doesn't offer the A-Spec Technolgy Package. Also missing touchscreen, which should be the norm in this generation of cars. A few missed opportunities here.
Acura offers aspec on all models, and all aspec's come with technology pkg
Mdx for sure it's not even close. If u want reliable dinosaur get the Lexus,if u want a reliable, modern, sporty and full with features get the mdx
In 2021?!
My only complain with with MDX is 360 view camera and HUD display only comes on top trim level which is the Advance trim.
Acura MDX all the way folks.

Please Compare Acura RDX bs Lexus RX350 in terms Luxury , Value and Reliability. In my opinion RX350 is more comparable to RDX instead MDX due to volume/cargo capacity.
Rx vs Mdx
Nx vs Rdx

Wonder if Acura fixed the limp mode/sudden deceleration issue. There’s a class action law suit against them currently
any word on what causes that issue?
i believe that was reported on the rdx if i’m not mistaken
My 2007 have Bluetooth issues draining battery overnight. Called Acura corporate, no help. It is a manufacturing defect.
And if you need to enjoy snow just buy an acura mdx with sh-awd
Thanks, appreciate your reply. I love all the cars I owned, but in terms of 4 wheel drive, based on my experience, German and Japanese cars are totally in different leagues. I didn’t mention I also leased Audi, its all wheel drive leave the Japanese cars very far behind.
Acura MDX 😌
Might have missed it but don’t forget to tell people that the Acura has a timing belt and not a chain so they will shell out over a grand every 80 or 90 k miles. I’ll take a chain over that every time.
BINGO on that one! U nailed it!!!!! sadly the V6 in the RX350 is all done for..... 2022 is the last year for the V6! Poo-Poo
The only thing I don’t like is the ride is a little harsher than the RX and not as quiet.
which has more cabin storage? Is there another comparable SUV that has more cabin storage? Leaning toward MDX but have had RX350 x3

mdx for life
Great video. Well done.

I am going with the Lexus... Just can not find a New RX currently. CR rates the Acura brand much, much lower for what that is worth.
Been seeing a lot of used MDX in inventory in my area lately and few RX…I ended up with the RX as I don’t need the 7 seater capacity yet….

Will do!
Delayed to October mass production. Working on the TLX Turbo. Mass production starts in June
That should be a type s stand alone video. There are no performance RX is there?
Does Acura MDX has or will have Hybrid ?
The only MDX hybrid was the 17-20 MDX Sport Hybrid in tech or Advance trims. It was a performance hybrid, not a mpg hybrid. It had 3.0L PI V6 engine, 3 electric motors, 7DCT, 321hp/289tq, regen braking, tq vectoring, electronic dampers for comfort or sport mode, under 6 second 0-60 times, 425-450 mile range with the 19 gal gas tank, could take 87-93 octane, and mpgs in the 25-27 city and 26-28 hwy range.
Great video, thank you! Perhaps the new redesigned Blackline Lexus GX 460, 2022.
