I never though shifting a manual Transmission Truck would cause Fatigue because I have been driving manual Transmission off road for years shifting 100's if not 1,000 of times per day .. Truth is driving an Auto shifting 18 wheeler does spoil you .. As an Owner Operator .. I would prefer to stay with Manual Transmissions do to way more down time and way lower repair costs..
I rebuilt a Fuller RT-6610 in 1986 .. It is now an RT)-6610 still working well in 2023 with 19,500 hours and 189,000 miles many of those miles off road..
I only use the clutch to stop and start most all shifts while moving with no clutch .. Just Throttle control . Left foot on the brake and right foot on the throttle
The Biggest cost in Trucking is the Fuel Bill it costs a Trucking Company or Owner Operator more than Wages cost.
Hi Jason. I am glad you accepted the challenge. The driving school seems to be operating to a higher standard of tuition and subject matter than most these days. Third party independent driving schools generally ( the good ones) turn out more proficient newcomers than those trained in house. I believe all tests should be done by independent testers qualified as examiners to a high standard, such as Advanced Driver Certification. Be patient, don’t over think your task, listen and observe. Enjoy the experience.👍
Manual transmissions are such dinosaurs! Why not just use automatic transmissions like Volvo uses in their trucks? That way the driver can pay attention to their driving, not to their shifting of gears.
