      And a lot of companies and governments make it hard for truckers, cheap foreign labour, legislation, low wage, long days. It's dispickable. I would love to be a truckdriver but you get treated like dirt.

    • @johnfrank6112
      @johnfrank6112 4 роки тому +10

      @@MrTruth111 Trucking can have long days and tighter work hours legislation is being written and coming online, with foolproof anti cheating technology.
      Still, you can make a nice blue collar living driving a truck. The trick is, who you work for. If you work, for one of the national over the road carriers, then you can expect to be out, for long periods of time, hardly any family time, and the money is not worth it, to me, but different strokes for different folks. Instead, you can work for a LTL company, Kroger, Walgreens and the work schedule is 180 degrees, from what MrTruth suggests may be the norm. You're out and back every day, a five day work week, really good pay, benefits, 401-k. Not all out and back companies work the same but there are many to choose from and they are all hiring.
      I have been a driver, for an out and back company, for over 20 years.. You would be shocked to see how good my work situation and my compensation is. I would match it against any blue collar job.

The point is that a person does not need a whole lot to sleep well (that's the case for me, at least), but the extra luxury and comfort can only help. Over the years they've updated the interior and exterior style...it's a well thought out design, honed over the years to be better and better, much like a Porsche 911 has. That is really a nice truck. Much too nice to overlook for mere tradition (Petes and KWs) ... I drove the old double bunk for awhile. I really liked that because the lower bunk was extra wide and would raise into a table with bench seats on each side ...

    WOW the new Volvo is awesome. I’ve driven Volvo’s for years. I like the new dash over the older one and more adjustments in the steering column. In the sleeper it’s wider and I know I’m 6’1 plus the ladder to the upper bunk. I used to step on the lower bunk then the cabinets to get to the upper bunk. The new side window shades and controls. They’ve improved the I-Shift transmission sound interesting. I will say the I-Shift transmission with traction control is the best truck I’ve ever driven on snow and ice and I drive in the Pacific Northwest, I know. Also they have recently come out with a heated windshield, I noticed the elements in the glass. One thing I’d wish they would do is install extra high intensity LED high beam lights in the cab visor so when I’m going through the Columbia River George at night , at 3am more headlight is better then less headlight. In the winter at night in a rainstorm it can get so dark and theirs no sub lighting from cities , etc. You are running along I-84 against a rock wall-the Cascade range mountains on one side and the Columbia river on the other side. But all in all that new VNL truck is awesome 👍👍👍👍 , so many improvements over the old models.

    I am a Truck Driver, it's a litter late for me to get a truck like this .About to retire. But if you are young and starting to drive trucks. You get a truck like this just lived in your truck and stack your money while you are working and sleeping nicely. You only will have Truck payment and fuel cost. 5 to 7 thousand a week. Add that up a week for a month and surely you will see how much money you can make in a month.. While living in your truck....

    Wow. Volvo is killing the game and continuing to enhance the experience.
    I ran step deck 2016 Volvo automatic Atlanta to Cali last year and thought I would hate the automatic but was very impressed with the complete package/space/ride.
    I still prefer manual, 13 speed, extra long stick in floor, but would like it in one of these new GlobeTrotter series.
    What does 6% equate to? 8mpg?
    I'm going to check out the new Petes to see if they are keeping up BC well, a Pete is s Pete.

    Im a tech for Penske fleet service. Volvo has really stepped their game up in multiple areas. Preventative maintenance is a breeze with Volvo (except for codes when applicable) and the extra room comes in handy if I have to sleep in the truck. The only problem drivers complain about is the hand bar to the left of the steering wheel. I banged my knee on it a couple times and left a lasting impression. Some drivers wrap it with a towel and owner opps completely remove it! (Except for the older guys) Compared to Freightliner, and International , Volvo has the least amount of issues which keeps the wheels spinning and my pockets grinning!!

    I saw a documentary about a german trucker in the 70's who had to drive to some arabic country, and that took weeks to get there and weeks to get back,
    and with 0 comfort and no airconditioning and digging alot of sand because at some places he had to drive and dig his way out of the dessert, and only a simple singe bed behind the driver
    seat and no fridge for cold drinks, no nothing at all, so every trip was one big and hard adventure and alot of sweat.
    Trucks of today almost drive themselves and the interior has become a half campervan with all the luxury and comfort, so a huge improvement compared with trucks from 45 years ago.

    I am never impressed by the "all the options included" model sold in every car/truck/tractor commercial. The fact is companies sell vastly more of their "economy" models to fleets than they do their "all options shown" models. Any comparison of any manufacturer should be based on their "base" model, aka "their most sold" model. Any manufacturers ultimate option model is impressive, if you put down enough cash. How about your basic model, what does that look like hey?
