Really love the filters on this mixer. That's actually what you want, just a clean cut, no boosting the frequencies cause that really destroys people's ears when playing out in clubs and festivals.
Definitely for me,...what a privileged bunch of music lovers we are to have manufacturers so in tune with the needs of each type of DJ out there ;)
It took me a few years but I ordered one a few days ago. So excited to get to know it. Cool review.
How do you like it now?
Beautiful looking mixer and great review.
Great review as always
Great review Chris! Not my sort of mixer but great to see something different
i played with this at NAMM, Holy hell it's amazing!
You review gear so well. There is nobody on youtube other than Ellaskins, who I trust more than you. I am the target audience for this mixer, but it doesn't matter, this is the best review of this mixer that exists
You nailed it with your last line "like nothing else on the planet"
Good to see Allen and Heath step up and build a serious sounding mixer again! Not built a mixer of this calibre since the v6! :)
Carl Cox's mixer of choice. It's like a studio board and DJ mixer in one.. It's perfect!!!
LOLOL Considering Cox has clearly been seen playing the Pioneer V10 6 Channel mixer which he has in his own HOME . as well has Pete Tong ..
@@colintraveller Recently yes, but lets be clear as an endorsed artist myself, by him playing on it helps sell units. Because I am sure he has a model 1 and other mixers at home too as do I.
For a studio 6 channels might be a bit limiting, but you can connect an other one to get 12 channels.
Very nice review. Great observations.
Great review Zangief!
LOL!
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Harrr du kon!!!
That's the type of tool perfect for techno or even reggae-dub DJs/artists to use. It seems like a shrunken down high quality anolog old school studio mixing board. Great review.
Never thought about it but your right.
Looks like this inspired the V10
i would love to get a smaller brother for this mixer (like pioneer did it with the djm 450 for the djm 900 nxs), the features are insane but not everyone needs 6 channels and 2 send/returns, or has the money to buy such a expensive and indeed strange mixer without getting started with its style
This mixer wasn't built to consider the common DJ/Performer. This is a professional high standard niche mixer. This mixer was designed for sculpting sound, more specifically - techno. You cant forget that. A little brother wouldn't be possible for this mixer as it offers too many features.
@@DColls2488 So? there are big and small sculptures init! ;)
@@dennisoffline1568
a 3 canal mixer version ?!
Model 1.4 is out. 4 channels 😁
Every time i do backline work, the sound of this mixer also sticks out. Its a fluffy pillow to the ears while remaining the analog gritty we love.
brilliant review. a mixer i have been genuinely wanting to know more about. the mixer is almost perfect. but just like the reviewer, i am not too keen on the sculpting section. i'm coming from the xone 92 with the 4 band eq, which i love. the one thing i would like on the xone 92 is a filter on each channel instead of having to share 2 across all the channels. maybe i'll wait for the PLAYdifferently Model 2 !!
Ronan Lee i think that the sculpting section is more for everyone who plays but Also produce .. as the name of the company , this is probably Made for
Ronan Lee Made for people Who blends loops and need to cut or boost frequency but this is my opinion ...
i find the xone 92 perfect for cutting / boosting frequencies, especially as you can cut / boost more than one at a time
so excited for this !
this is insane evolution for DJ mixers, finally :D
Been waiting for this review for ages - and it didn't disappoint. Good job Mojaxx as always. I'd love to have a go on this and think the sound sculpting section used in conjunction with the 2 filters per channel is a great, innovative idea. I see people not liking this already in the comments, but don't forget that the very first mixers used didn't even have ANY EQ's on them AT ALL!!!! So the invention of the EQ was new and pushed the boundary's at the time - and now it's evolved again now here we are. No denying this is for a very niche market and would be interested to see worldwide sales figures. But as Mojaxx said - this has been designed by a very specific artist to use how he likes, and it does that job perfectly - so just need a lottery win now.......
James Benson I've now decided I'm totally down with just separate high and low pass filters instead of a 3-band EQ. Even just a nice smooth high pass, really, like the Mastersounds Radius.
Agreed. The 'filter generation' probably don't even use the EQ's these days and although i have a Xone:92 at home, i've taken to using the Pioneer RMX1000 for blending as the isolator on that thing is really smooth and customisable. After the Model1 i think we'll see some of the next generation mixers follow in it's footsteps.
Great Review, good explanations! Keep it up! :-)
Solid review
great review, looks like a great mixer
You can change the Fader caps. Every mixer I have does not have the Original Caps on them. This Is a Awesome piece kit.
I'm thinking of building this kind of mixer in my shed .
great looking mixer. you can really change the sound of any track., very pricey for 80 percent of the DJ's that might want to use it.
Would love to give this mixer a spin. Great review too mate. :-)
Yes, my mind is blown!
Hahahaha, finally here mate! :D @mojaxx
I appreciate that this video is over a year old now, but I was just wondering if you have compared this mixer to the Formula Sound FF6.2? Similar price point and both designed to have the best sound possible. I'm a Formula Sound fan, but would be interested in how they compare.
i can see its appeal. running groove boxes and studio fx , computers through it. clean sound. nice and simple for just mixing . There is a market for crossover mixers that can be used for live production and studio work. I got a Korg Zero 4 when it was released to fit my needs of using for more than just DJ. if you own a bunch of expensive high end studio gear and want the quality of a high end mixing desk that fits in a dj booth or on a festival stage its a good mixer for touring.
I had that mixer too, it had some sick digital emulation of tape echo, i miss using it.. wish Korg would make something like that again without the noise issues
I wish Korg would rerelease a newer Zero mixer with updated computer support. I need a good hardware performance mixer. The Roland MX-1 ain’t cutting it.
Great review. My feeling is that they should have kept the look of the x1600/1700 and updated them with the new tech to go with the sc5000.
What was the issue with the rmx1000?
dude what are you talking about?
Dopeeeee I want one
can you make a video explaining how to connect this mixer with rekordbox and ableton or maschine plus?
Speaking about analogue mixer please review an original BOZAK CMA DL for us, tell us the story about that legendary mixer please! Congratas for your Channel! Cheers from Brazil!
Look, you can have a kind of standard eq out of this while it isn't that at all. Just go for the mids with the parametric eq. It's just better that way. I want one!
High and lows only cut tho
Fantastic mixer
looks like an excellent mixer but i preffer to have a built in effects section, i own the xone PX 5 and besides the fact that it has only 3 EQ knobs and 1 filter unlike its brothers the xone 92\96, i really like that mixer
U really can see the influence of the v 10
Great mixer, maybe if there were switches on the front, to select upfader curve styles for each fader, it would be even better.
Great Video!
The Curve of the faders are fixed?! There is no way getting a linear curve for example?
Dude, it‘s analog
nice sleek outro graphics !
can u make a review of the pioneer djm v10 plis
Couple more channels for an amazing hardware synth performance mixer. 3 channels short! Maybe a larger model?...
At the end of the day , if the music is good , u just need a mixer .
Nice review!!.....i needed 2 see dat!...imma have 2 break out sum Kano....Twilight 22.....Clear!!....Dats Detroit ish!!..lol
Has anybody tested this vs a A&H V6 ? I have the chance to buy a V6 but wondering if the model 1 is better sound + better routing than the V6
I got a Formula Sound FF6.2L like two weeks ago and absolutely love it... but I still can't stop thinking about a Model1 :(
That's the mixer I wanted but no US distributor. I think they even have a rotary option. If a store in SoCal ever gets one I'm in. The only thing your missing is the the EQ,but in most venues it won't make a difference.
@@tylon2999 The FF6.2L?
@@ericburgos Yes ,but I know its not a rotary I was just wishing since they have theFF4.2R.
@@tylon2999 I was asking because the FF4.2R does have EQ - a four band EQ in addition to the filters on each channel.
@@ericburgos Yes it's hard to go back to 3 band after using 4 band.
Hi all, about to pull the trigger on a MODEL1 purchase. If connecting 2x Denon SC6000m's (4 channels) to the unit, where does the audio interface fit? Do I need to buy an expensive 8in/8out audio interface to have it working? Thanks!
Cinch-Cables, if you want full digital you‘ll ned 16 audio outputs on your interface
Does not work for anyone but works perfectly for Carl Cox :)
I agree :D
Works also great for Louie Vega 😀
great review! - as i see it, hawtin and rigby jones created this for them and a select few, and to see what boundaries they could push with a mixer. fair play to them, they have gone further than the bog standard djm800 and the like. they probably dont care about the price and dont care about how many sales they get, so setting the price at that much wont bother them. still dont really understand the mixer, think its something that you have to have a go on definitely before you buy it because of the uniqueness of some of the features. looks fucking sexy though, someone loan me £2500, ill pay you back promise
If you're someone who does not watch videos with headphones, PUT SOME ON HERE: 6:53
whats the background song
Great review mojaxx, keep up the good work. High budgets aside, if you had the option between the model 1 and the xone db4, which one would you choose? (If you were a very technical techno dj) Anyone else reading please feel free to comment, many thanks.
mrpudh It's a taste thing really... With the DB4 you're getting a lot more included - audio interface, FX etc. To kit out a Model 1 with equivalent extras you're talking around double the price. But then you're getting extra control over your sound. A really hard call (if money is no object).
MojaxxVDJ how is the sound compared to a DB4?
@@Funky1ism in comparison the sound is amazing
The learning curve will be difficult. 2 Filters and 1 EQ for sculpting?
Prize
wowsers!!!
What is the name of the track?
Have you done a video on recordbox DVS, if not can you?
I'm still watching this video on a regular basis. While I can afford it, I'm finding it really hard to justify the cost. But I want it soooo much I'll probably succumb soon.
Have you already?
Well... have you?
@@QuestionKnife Waiting for my 1.4 to arrive in a few weeks!
@@aaronw4537 Damn... nice one m8
It is great but something like the xone 92 is more attractive price wise
condesa lucia & djr400 simple and strate to the point.
I have this mixer but it doesn’t quite work well with the Pioneer RMX 1000 Station. The RMX works fine. Whether I come out of the auxiliary or booth to the RMX then back to the mixer via return it just doesn’t sound right. Could there be something wrong with the mixer or something else? Thanks so much.
The RMX1000 works best with with pioneer mixers. When I use it with my DJM1000 it works fine but not my Xone mixers. The way I use it with my MODEL1 is headphone out to a Soundbite Pro to RMX to a fader channel. You don't need a Soundbite to send it to a channel that's just the way I do it.You also can adjust all of the RMX settings with the software.
@@tylon2999 works fine with a xone. You just have to make sure you put it on the insert effect
@@lucmermans37 True, but I put my isolator in the insert. I like to use my efx in channel A pre fade. My number one complaint is no pre on channel B.
Kick at the top of the fader - typical A&H quirk.
Basically, its a analog Zone DB4 without on board affects. I can achieve the same frequency cut and sweep with my DB4.
Except with great sound, 6 stereo inputs and amazing headroom
too early, no 1080p :(
so is this mixer for dual djs with 2 headsets to cue their songs during their set?
Yes, absolutely
Tnx for this , any tips on how to connect iPad with tracktor into model 1
I’m a musician not a technician ! These techy tings take up a lot of time figuring out 🤔
Tnx
Buy an audio interface, then dSub-connector cables
Done that Tnx , do you know why the record out clips with any recording app using the rode trs to trss into iphone ?
@@chrisbaron70 signal too hot, try setting the master volume lower and try again
long story short;....didnt knw mixers was priced so crazy,...guess it depends wht u need it 4!...I remember Realistic Radio Shack was ur go 2 mixer!!
I see that sc5000 let's review that!
Funny u reviewed dis mixer!...i went 2 Guitar Center 2 price a new mixer...i gotta Denon DN-X20...dnt laugh...it did da job, & some!!...
STOP TEASING THE DENONS :(
just give us the video already!!!!!
Richie: Fuck off Crosfader!
how would you connect this mixer to a laptop for a show?
Audio interface?
Or 3.5 mm to Cinch
And we always want to learn how to use the most expensive piece of gear in the industry.
I‘m sure you could go much more expensive
These will sit
you totally talked over the demonstration of crunch. 9:14
"It's very expensive."
Pioneer: IS THAT A CHALLENGE
Ok guys I want your opinion. If you are a dj that just mixes one record after another, like myself, this is not the mixer for your is it? I seriously considering getting one, however, i have just 2 cdj's at home. To really use the mixer what it is designed for you need at least 3 decks or use traktor or something. I'm curious for your opinions.
yeah, i suggest you go watch a set by hawtin where he uses this mixer. when hes playing and using this hes blending multiple layers, which is why its got 6 channels. not 6 channels to cue up 6 songs haha. i think nicole moudaber uses this mixer too and dubfire and chris liebing
og loc yes. Its awesome to use 6 channels for six different loops or stems. I'm seriously considering this mixer and start using stems. I have to get the money though. I will first watch some Richie Hawtin sets where he uses the mixer. Thanks for your answer man! :)
last one i remember watching was him in NYC on mixmag, good video. saw him at warehouse project in manchester in december stormer of a set!
.....once again!,...u hit it the hammer on the nail!,...itz like a Cadillac!,....u jus wanna smooth ride!
Sorry, but i didntget it or you didnt say.
is this a 6 + channel mixer? or a fix 6 channel mixer?
6 stereo tracks + 2 stereo returns
@@el_dani
At this point after 6 years I posted this, I already know about the mixer, but thank you!
@@combojerman28 cool, did you buy it?
@@el_dani
no i didn't i got the pioneer dj djm-v10 instead. the reason for that is the price and i needed the fader at the bottom. i wish i could have one in the model 1 mixer, but has a different approach. so i got the pioneer. if the model one will have a fader at the bottom (battle fader) then i will switch 100% to the model one.
Does anyone know the track at 8:40?
Nick TG I always just use unreleased beats from one of our in-house producers, Mayeda, I'm afraid.
@@Mojaxx i would 100% purchase the instrumental mix of this tune
Sounds nice but i rock the crossfader a lot, which it doesnt have......
I don't know... If you want to have lots of channels, parametric eq, filters, studio style faders, and all for 3300$ - buy midas m32 and be happy
I FUCKING WANT YOUUUUUU
i still don't understand what this mixer does or what it's for?.
watch Richie Hawtin's set on UA-cam & you should get it. It's designed for DJ's who do a lot of layering... the filters, sweeping mid EQ, and saturation are designed to get those extra decks (beyond the basic 2) to fit well in the mix
RICHIE Horton Hawkins yea
When an audiophile studio wizard/performer creates a dj mixer...wow.
I'm staying with my 92 and rane 62 no more mixers for me oh and my sx1
I have a Numark m6.mixer
what for track is this
I Think xone 62 has fair enough channels.....and the 646....its for live setups...
Melea Jacobi You are misled, This would accompany my 6 synthesizers comprehensively, as to any configuration you can take in your studio....
I don't really understand why and go out your way to talk about how analog the sound is when you are running CDJ's through it?
DBakes11 We test all mixers with both vinyl and digital sources. And the analogue nature of the mixer has a big impact on the sound of whatever is put through it - that's why many producers might compose and mix digitally but mastering is still often done on analogue equipment.
MojaxxVDJ I see someone understands , the old school sound , this is a mixer , that's it .....
Ya its $3k but the resale will return that.
this is my ever doubt thinkin' to buy..I know if someone buy a Model 1 would think to keep it forever, but anyway in our life we can't be aware what will happen, so..has Model 1 a second hand market?
I may be able to afford one in 5 years when the price drops lol
1 year to go!
@@el_dani yup.
Oh!,...Thats a "Mixer"!"Mixer"!👍
awesome mixer, but for that kind of money, ill just DJ on my midas M32.
Pretty good stuff, but yeah, not for my style of DJing!
Nothing beats a rodec180.
another strange device by A&H that sounds great but not meant to be used by djs :D same as my xone 32
