  • I made a Stainless Steel Survival Bolo with the idea to use it in humid Jungle environment where high carbon Steel rusts very fast.
The Becut Steel got 14% Chrome in it and is hardened to 57° Rockwell.

As a survival Knife, this Beast is hard to compete with. It combines the well proofed design of these Bolos with modern Materials. And on top you made it look really cool.
    Great Job Marius!

That is a pretty good performer. Looks like it might be a decent one tool option to bring out in the woods.
    Thanks for sharing - Martin

That's a good raw material. I like the straight handle blade. Short heavy blades like western blades are not suitable for hacking your way through heavy vegetation because its stubby and unwieldy but has good chopping characteristics. They are suitable for the wooded areas of the US for example that are relatively clear of foliage. A longish narrow somewhat thin blade has a good, fast and speedy short swinging strokes needed to clear a path through entanglements of thin branches and vines in tropical settings like the forests of the Philippines.

Yeah, I didnt expect the wood to be that hard. And my baton was so large that I was worried about the handle scales if I hammer with it on the handle side of the knife.
      Shit happens ...

Hehe, I was trying to say how mad your battoning speed in the video was. I've never seen someone batton so fast. :)

Very nice! I really like it. Stainless steel for jungle environment is really a good idea. I wonder if I can make an order? Please MSL Bushcraft. If possible, together with your designed knife and a full size bolo. Please let me know. Thanks.

At the moment I dont accept any orders. Because I don't have the time for it.
But I am working right now on a standard survival bolo made from high carbon steel, that should be finish soon.
I will upload a video ones it's ready for sale...
      Regards

So, do you still like the chisel shape edge (one side flat one beveled) better than an edge ground on both sides? Nice looking bolo!

Yes, I still like it. It got some advantages but only very little disadvantages.
But I dont think that it will ever become " mainstream " ...
