I found it a little odd that he was so adamant that Hitmonlee had to come last in the Bruno fight. It's a good deal more impressive to run in set mode rather than shift, but I spent that whole Bruno part wondering why he didn't just change the setting, or if I had missed him mentioning that mode as a rule for himself. Quite awesome that he managed to run that way though.
Yup. It can go unnoticed because he never mentions it, even though he always does it, like in his recent Bruno run. That added difficulty can really make a difference, especially for these type of runs. It was another key aspect to consider for choosing Haunter. And tbh, I get his logic. "there is no cute story here" proceeds to tell cute story about how little kid him loved how strong an nfe pokemon was and decided to make it his mascot.
Ok, about the order the e4 sends out pokemon. From what i know they pick pokemon that have super effective moves against your current pokemon. The most extreme example of this is koga. If you kill ariados with typhlosion (or any other fire type) he will always send in forretress cuz it knows spikes, which is a ground type move. (This is just observation and guesswork, so take it with a grain of salt but i more or less confirmed it against other trainers like the kanto gym leaders and red). In fact, whenever i go through e4 multiple times using the same pokemon for the same opposing pokemon, the order is actually really consistent. I think it happens that the order gets shuffeld around a bit if the remaining pokemon are all equally effective against your current pokemon, but that rarely happend to me. Maybe you just got unlucky?
Watching the Blue fight I was thinking how it would have been cool if that in Pokemon Blue the player character sprite was the rival sprite and your rival was the usual player character sprite. It would have been pretty easy to code and it would have also made the Red and Blue games have something very noticeable in-game to distinguish them.
Cool video. Definitely enjoyed watching the challenge run, separate from your other challenge runs and ongoing series. As someone that likes watching these sort of pokemon challenge runs from various poketubers, I think something you could do to improve upon future runs is make it very clear up front what all the rules are. For example, a quick slide at the start saying "If any of my pokemon ever takes damage, I restart from my previous save. I am allowed to save as many times and as often as I like, with the exception being no saving between Elite 4 members. All use of pokemon centers, items in battle, etc are allowed." I think if you added something like that, it would give all the viewers the expectations of the run up front and make it more interesting. Cheers!
Played Red first, but Gold over and over again as a kid. And seriously would use just kadabra the whole run so this has been the most Nostalgic of any of the many videos I've seen that you made
You wondered about the “random” elite four order. I am no expert, but I can bring my observations. As a kid I often did solo Typhlosion run of the game and the elite four always had the same set of Pokemon order because they saved their grass/weak to fire pokemon to last, starts with best matchup. I did notice a change when a did not use a pokemon following that pattern it changed a little, but I always took that to the ai trying to find same pattern as before, but couldn't so it tries one that might work. I might be wrong, but that has always been what I thought from how I experienced it.
Great idea for a video man, I can only imagine the amount of work it took. I left a like and this comment to help the algoritm. I hope you blow up with this! Shoutouts from Argentina!
Fun fact, my favourite Pokemon is Alakazam, and there is a cute origin story. As a young child, I had a lot of social issues, as in, I sucked at talking to people. When I did, all I could really talk about was the video games I played, like Pokemon. As a child, I always saw Alakazam as that one super powerful psychic Pokemon. As a kid growing up with FRLG and the anime, I saw Alakazam as this powerful pseudo Mewtwo. I never got one, though, as I never had friends to trade with, or two systems and two games. Though, Freshman year rolled around, and I finally got Diamond and Pearl with a friend, and I raised up an Abra into Alakazam. It happened to be a modest Alakazam, and it carried my whole team. To this day, Alakazam represents the power of friendship to me. I always found it neat that you liked Kadabra, which is, of course, a very respectable Pokemon in its own right.
I've been watching a lot of your one Pokémon challenges and so when you first used bellsprout in battle I got absolute whiplash, like my brain had forgotten it was actually possible for more than one Pokémon to be used in battle
Great video. I'm pretty sure Smallant used like X Speeds and that kind of thing, so good on you for going only held items in battle. If and when you get back to the solo Kanto challenges, I'd love to see Krabby. It has fantastic attack and really bad special. Of course, all of its physical attacks are Normal. Should make for a neat run.
Awesome vid dude, I feel you on Karen. I just finished a Totodile only run of Silver and that damn Umbreon was a wall until sand attack failed. I completely underestimated just how powerful that thing is.
Gen2 Kadabra doesn't need recover. It GETS a damageless run once you got Kadabra. It's just that broken in gen2. And if you have a buddy for trading. Put the game aside. There is a thing called too easy
@@Metalhammer1993 he didnt meant that its wrong to learn recover but he means that its odd seeing a kadabra that doesnt take the opportunity to learn recover.

None of these runs are luck based. So much respect man. You do it this pure way of your own where you hold yourself to this standard of gaming that is to be admired. We all have our own 'head-cannon' in some games we love, melding our own experiences with the game. I truly enjoy your content.

I’m glad you caught a ghastly!! I replay a full version of classic Silver on my 3ds menu, and I always make Haunter my ‘main’, higher level than the team. And Furret is my best #2. Why I love silver so much is because I can get my two favorites very early in the game, every playthrough. ❤️ love your videos! 👍🏻👍🏻
In the pokemon menu if you select “MOVE” you can see the base power of the moves (and rearrange them if you want) it doesn’t tell you the hit rate though
That menu doesn't tell you the power of hidden power, though. You kinda missed the point.
Nicholas It told me it was power 10 when I checked last...
TheDjbz you miss the point again. Hidden power varies in type and base damage with every unique pokemon. Two Haunter can have different Hidden Power
@@chibiraptor He said that you can't check the base of power of moves until Gen 3 and that is definitely not correct. Unless he only meant that for Hidden Power, but then it is worded a bit confusing.
@@uselessDM He pretty clearly meant just hidden power. It's only confusing wording if you're a pedant or think that the guy that uploads pokemon challenge runs is dumb.

Heck yeah a reason to ruin my sleeping schedule even more ☠️☠️
Your challenge runs are more difficult then 99% of the content other people put up I appreciate the grind thanks for the content
Cheers!
Best Pokémon channel on UA-cam and now covering my favorite gen, thanks Jrose
That Lugia on the start screen had way too many Carbos.
I'm also from Argentina, and can confirm this got randomly recommended to me
Fun fact, my favourite Pokemon is Alakazam, and there is a cute origin story.
Stfu
11:12 seeing you hit no to learning recover was a bit painful
Gen2 Kadabra doesn't need recover. It GETS a damageless run once you got Kadabra. It's just that broken in gen2. And if you have a buddy for trading. Put the game aside. There is a thing called too easy
@@Metalhammer1993 he didnt meant that its wrong to learn recover but he means that its odd seeing a kadabra that doesnt take the opportunity to learn recover.
@@evantanuwidjaja8017 i understood that. And I exactly said why it's not odd in a gen2 game. Kadabra doesn't need it. (Actually with kadabras and Alakazam's shitty defenses I'd never run recover on them) kadabra with the punches and psychic oneshots 3/4 of the game
None of these runs are luck based. So much respect man. You do it this pure way of your own where you hold yourself to this standard of gaming that is to be admired. We all have our own 'head-cannon' in some games we love, melding our own experiences with the game. I truly enjoy your content.

Love the vids! Have a little correction- you claimed that Clair doesn’t use fully evolved Pokémon but Kingdra is a final form. Keep up the good work!
He means she shouldn't have *any* NFE's, not that she has all NFE's
@Mariano Jar He says "doesn't use fully-evolved pokemon". Not "only fully evolved" or "uses pokemon that aren't fully evolved", those could be interpreted like you said, but how he said it was pretty unambiguous. He either forgot about Kingdra or meant to say "all of her pokemon aren't fully evolved" and misspoke, either way he made a mistake
