    As you know boss I have been waiting for this video for a few weeks now and I have to say it didn't dissapoint! You truly are a inspirational person mate. You always manage to amaze me with these incredible feets of determination and grit. It sounded incredible when you described all of this to me but seeing it now in film is mind blowing. Well done for pushing through that cramp mate and absolutely smashing it! Huge kudos buddy! 😎🤘🏻

    11:23 I marked this section and that orange marker in the water.. I had to get it at the end! I think a few were tampered with around that area, good stuff too, was about to say I remember seeing you, but at 11:29 thats me haha! Great running mate!!

      Haha Awesome 😎 and thanks for marking out the course. Loved the race. Can’t do it this year as doesn’t fit right. UTS 165 is the goal and a few trips to this Welsh hills!

      @@ultrarunneradam good man! I couldn't do it either, I done the UTS50 in 2021 and literally been injured since, getting there now though I think! 165 is way out of my league! I'm a track runner that dabbles with a few smaller ultras haha

    That is an absolutely stunning place!! You did a great job filming despite the terrain, nice one! So frustrating the feeling of finding out you haven't got a piece if kit you thought you had packed! I remembered salt tablets and nailed nutrition (for once) in my Ultra last week BUT packed the wrong headlamp batteries 😬 felt so annoyed with myself when I realized it nearly threw my mindset off. Made a film of it you may enjoy checking out, so please have a look. It was in a beautiful place, but at night so didn't get as much stunning footage as you got here! I am subscribing to your channel, love what you are doing here!

      Loads of kit to remember - got to write a list but always panicked at end. Like going in holiday and forgetting something. Thanks for watching 😊😊

    Wow, never heard of this race but this is up there in the list of extreme ones on British ground. Hiking up these paths at a comfortable pace is tricky enough, let alone running lots of it. Bet the next day was interesting! Nice video and massive well done for the effort.

      My legs were trashed for 5 days - didn’t run all week which cocked up my plans. Also took a while to get back to decent motivation levels. Awesome race - will the first of many sky races for sure.

    PS - Nice vid though. That's probably my favourite Skyrace so far and on par with the Glencoe Skyline.

    well done. I am doing it this year, hope it is not as hot. What would your opinion of poles for this race?

    • @ultrarunneradam
      @ultrarunneradam  7 місяців тому +1

      Depends how fast you are. loads of mountain trails. Some parts to technical for poles though. If you happy to carry I would take them.

    definitely wise to get in those aid station goodies ..

    Great effort! What a day and adventure you had! This looks like a great race. I can totally relate to the jelly legs, but well done for pushing through! Did you use poles? Do you think your legs were trashed due to the extreme nature of the route and terrain or your fuelling? It's hard to know how to train for this type of race without heading into the mountains. Nice one mate. 👍

    • @ultrarunneradam
      @ultrarunneradam  2 роки тому

      Unfortunately I can blame the nutrition just a surrey boys legs not mountain fit which is a bit worrying for UTS. But at least I won’t be going at such a pace. No poles this time as a bit too steep and technical - could have used them a few times but not needed.

    Lovely video. I am on the fence with salt tabs and I know everyone is different. However reading Waterlogged by Tim Noakes and articles from Arthur Lydiard, they both said you dont need salt tablets. More along the lines of potassium and magnesium. If salt deficient, cramps would be all over the body not just the legs. Anyway Waterlogged is worth a read.

    • @ultrarunneradam
      @ultrarunneradam  2 роки тому

      Thanks 🙏 Nice advice. I’ll check that out. The salt tabs I would use if I didn’t forget them have sodium potassium and magnesium in so that’s makes sense. Precision hydration ones.

      @@ultrarunneradam I am training old school, before fancy shoes and gels. Elite athletes were running sub 2:10 marathons in 1967 without all the marketing products of today. Arthur Lydiard quoted that salt tablets forces potassium out of the body, that loss, added to what was lost in sweat, caused a severe potassium deficiency and all its symptoms: muscle weakness, cramps, irritability - (Running with Lydiard). And Tim Noakes, Waterlogged is a very interesting read with scientific data. I had sweat tests with Precision because of cramps a couple years back and the extra salt made me worse. All my clothes were white with salt after a run. I cut it all out and now most runs up to 3 hours are fasted, I MAF train a lot, upped the mileage and fingers crossed no cramps since. I must add these are my experience and everyone is different.

    What's with the reference to salt tablets? The Snowdon Skyrace is only 20 miles long (I did it in 2019) and you really shouldn't need salt tablets for this or for any other distance unless it's extremely hot or very long. Tailwind/SIS electrolyte has all the salt you need and suggesting people should be popping salt tablets is daft IMHO.

      Thanks for your IMHO. Nice to be challenged 👍
