I can actually see that being like a side job of Matilda's where her true profession is teacher but as we all know teacher wages are unfairly small so she does side work as an author and an audio book reader!
When she was talking about how her and Haley Joel Osment would see each other on campus, make eye contact, and look away. What she didn’t tell us was that just like Matilda, Mara is capable of telepathic communication. Haley, as he has gotten older, has manifested yet another extrasensory perception. Some might even call it his….Seventh sense….So now not only can Mr. Joel Osment see dead people; he is also capable of communicating Telepathically. They hungout/communicated, not physically jn person, just in their minds😁
I read Mara's Cracked article on how child stars can become messed up adults, and it's very articulate and concise. Danny and Rhea looked after her extremely well during filming of Matilda, while Mara's mother was sick, and at least she got to see a copy of the finished movie before she passed away.
@@jadedheartsz That’s between Lindsay and Mara. And expecting Mara to just forgive her is cringe. Did Lindsay apologize, did she try to rebuild their friendship? And Mara doesn’t have to nor does she need to rebuild their friendship. Sometimes people fall out and that’s it. Why do you need them to become bffs again? Can’t you accept it and let it go?
@@christycarlsonromano Can I make a suggestion as a subscriber of yours can you please include time stamps? That would help a lot with your podcasts 😊🙏🏽
Mara saying "I always joke I have an audience of bisexual librarians," TOOK. ME. OUT. I'm biromantic asexual and still in library school but it's too real 😂 She's such a gem, seriously.
Listening to her speak just makes me want to cry. I didn’t know Matilda was so intertwined with my childhood nostalgia. ♥️ They were literally just catching up with each other and I’m crying, wtf 😂
Mara Wilson-what an actual gem. The way she speaks and thinks is what I feel like I need to hear regularly. It’s almost like morning meditation to listen to her thoughts and opinions. She has the most relaxing speaking voice and I’m here for it 🖤
Remember the Doug walker stuff? The fact she took it serious shows how passionate she is, and when she got the joke, she rolled with it. That speaks volumes of a person.
I would love for you to look into the dance mom girls / Abby Lee Miller. Those girls went through some horrible things. You are doing great work Christy!
I haven't thought about Mara Wilson since I was a little kid watching her on Matilda and miracle on 34th! She is so well spoken I can just tell she's smart within the first few minutes of her speaking. I work as a teacher now and she reminds me so much of a teacher!
At least Mara's parents kept her grounded, and reminded her that education was more important than childhood fame, which explains her grounded approach to Hollywood today.
Yes! Mind you, she lost her mom to cancer while she was filming Matilda. During the time, she was like 8 years old. But regardless of all that, her caretakers did a good job supporting and taking care of her. She escaped the “child star curse” by quitting acting at the tender age of like 13.
It’s interesting how experience can make a situation like she went through on that cruise seem so small to others as a singular experience… but after listening, you realize that the significance is in the habits we form after we give in the first time, and the situations we end up in because we’re afraid to step on others toes. I respect so much that she tells that story to form a much larger picture. ♥️ I didn’t see this in myself until my late twenties.
Mara is the bomb. When I was little outcast gay boy, Matilda changed my life. She and I have the same initials and the same age so as a kid it made me feel cool.
I love Mara/Matilda! The book and movie resonated with me so much as a child I now have a tattoo of Matilda. Love seeing Mara on here, she’s such a lovely/well spoken person
Thank you so much for having the wonderful Mara Wilson in today's episode. Both you Christy and Mara are treasures. I absolutely love both of you! ❤❤❤❤❤
Not to put her in a box- because im sure it gets old being labeled as one character, but she truly seems to embody Matilda so well- articulate and wise beyond her years, but constantly striving to learn more every day and be the best person they can be. I was born the year Matilda came out and it is still to this day one of my top 5 favorite movies. Love to see a childhood fave seemily thriving and happy and just being an all around great person! This was one of my fave episodes so far 😊
Matilda has always been my #1 favourite movie… I struggled a lot with mental health and sexuality growing up and I would always resort to rewatching for the genuine joy it has always brought to my life. Now, hearing that Mara is a part of the community as well just reiterates that everything comes full circle. I thoroughly enjoyed this interview! Thank you!
christy, you should be really proud of yourself. you really are having a second wave of influence on us in the most positive way and doing it on your own. you're doing such a good job.
Love love love it ❣️ I just came out last year, at 27. One month ago I was diagnosed with endometriosis. Matilda was always a friend, in my head. I love to learn how similar we are. Thanks for spreading the love ladies.
Thank you for being yourself, Mara, in the past and in the present. Always love hearing your perspective and witnessing the grace you’ve grown into. Great interview Christy! Stimulating stuff
I love Mara Wilson. I’ll have to watch later this morning because it’s 1 in the morning in Australia but cannot wait. She’s very eloquent in the way she speaks
Even though my brain still feels like mara is still the girl from Matilda and Mrs Doubtfire. She has become an amazing woman. Her memoir and her other accomplishments! Women empowerment! Just a regular person that happens to be in acting as a child. Great segment! Made me tear up just a little 😢 😊 ❤️
It’s the way I kept saying to myself for your past 5 videos……”Christy looks so familiar” my dumb self forgot that you were in Even Stevens, and Cadet Kelly. Cadet Kelly is actually the reason for why I became so obsessed with the military, and for why I have so much respect for the military.
Really good to hear about the work you both are doing to help high performing children. And your commitment to it. And this was really healing in a way. I love how insightful and empathetic you both are and encouraging, and honest and vulnerable.
I really enjoyed listening to this conversation. You two seem like such genuinely lovely people and I wish one day I can be part of a community that has such wonderful insight, connection and communication. I resonate so much with what Mara discussed, being a writer, and having body dysmorphia especially. Would love to have the confidence to be drawn naked?! Amazing! ❤love the podcast, so much respect for you both ❤
I love Mara! Her involvement in and endorsement of mental health resources years ago were a lifesaver to me. I immensely enjoyed her first book and can't wait to read her second!
I LOVE Mara. I look up to her and how she handles fame and has tried to forge a path she's actually COMFORTABLE with. She's the one famous person who really seems like she's talking with no media training at the forefront of her brain, she's just being herself, and knows that that's valuable and a net positive, to show herself and her story. And I'm glad she knows that. We love her AND YOU!
Matilda is still one of my top favorite movies of all time… I felt a lot like her growing up just being different (not in an abusive household) and also having some pretty psychotic teachers I always wish mine was Miss Honey. Either way, Mara grew up to be such an intelligent, self assured Babe. So happy for her and where she’s found her true self 🎉🎉🎉
Same I loved that movie. Danny Devito and his wife, who played Matilda’s mean parents, were some of her biggest support system. They looked out for her and treated Mara like their own daughter during a time when she was going through a lot. Her mom was terminally ill during that time.
Hey Christy, i really enjoy your podcasts here on UA-cam. This is another great one. I’ve been a big fan since Even Stevens back in the early 2000’s. That was always my favorite show in the Zoog Disney era for me growing up in my early teens back then
i mean this with the upmost respect to her and other child stars, but it is insane to see how put together and sure of herself that mara is compared to other child stars that never left the industry at any point...
I talked to her a little bit on Twitter many years ago and she just seemed very bitter and angry. It's good to see that she seems to be in a better place.
Wow Mara is still so much like her character Matilda in the movie love her so much I'm her biggest fan!😅❤ The movie Matilda never gets old i watched it since i was little even though i wasnt born when she made the movie! 😂
Of course Mara’s fans are bi librarians and teachers. She did play Matilda. 😁 Matilda will always be my favorite of her movies. I’ve seen it way too many times. A Simple Wish is a close contender, though. I love Mara! She’s one of my favorite people. Great interview!
so many millennials would watch this but simply can't find this platform, she was so popular in the 90's but everyone's old now and not online that much
I loved this interview. It just made me sad how incredibly incredibly self-conscious she comes off as being. Maybe she isn’t really, but many things she said make me believe it’s true.
She's such and honest/brilliant women... Mara is awesome and christy, You're an amazing host. You can tell people are so comfortable with you. Keep it up!❤
What's your favorite Mara Wilson movie??
Matilda is # 1
I love all of the films she was in because she is one of my favorite childhood actresses ❤
Either Matilda, A Simple Wish, or Thomas and the Magic Railroad.
Today is Aaron Taylor Johnson 's birthday
Matilda and Thomas and the Magic Railroad for me!
So you're telling me Matilda grew up and now reads books as a profession?
Tell me that's not a storybook ending.
😂
I can actually see that being like a side job of Matilda's where her true profession is teacher but as we all know teacher wages are unfairly small so she does side work as an author and an audio book reader!
Right? LOL
she also writes them for a living too.
When she was talking about how her and Haley Joel Osment would see each other on campus, make eye contact, and look away. What she didn’t tell us was that just like Matilda, Mara is capable of telepathic communication.
