As an identical twin who was the "fat brother" to everybody, and having those experiences of being put down for my weight being the kernel of my lifelong inferiority issues and difficulties loving myself, I welled up hearing how Kim defended Dylan. I knew I'd enjoy this episode, as I always liked Kim on Suite Life, but now I have even more respect for her. Not a lot of people stand up for boys being body-shamed or teased. A lot of people seem to operate under the assumption boys don't feel and can't be hurt emotionally. Glad to know Kim Rhodes is not one of those people.
I'm a fraternal twin myself (both girls), and I'm the same way. I'm considered "less than" my sister, because she's prettier, more outgoing, thinner. Oh my gosh I didn’t know that Kim wasn’t offered a role in Sweet Life On Deck! I always thought she just didn’t want to return. 😢. I feel like that show would have been so great with her as a part of it
@ 20:03 the way her voice changes. Literally made me burst into tears. That's the most precious, genuine, wholesome thing ive heard in soooo long. Im more in love with her!!
This was incredible. SHE was incredible. Something about her was just so healing. I went to go look for her on Tik Tok now because I need more of her presence!! 😩
@shelbysprinklesdisney1499 Yeah, It’s horrible that a 12-year-old child had to go through that. Raven Symone and Hilary Duff went through the same thing as well.
Great episode! You should get Hallie Todd (Jo McGuire, “Lizzie McGuire’s mom”) on the pod! Especially since you’ve both worked with Hillary . This episode got me thinking of “TV moms” and along with Kim , she had a character I associate w safety. Would love to hear her stories. Thanks for doing what you do christy !❤❤
I grew up in a terrible environment and my "parents" were terrible, but after they went to bed at night I would pull up the Suite Life on the computer back when it took forever and a day for videos to load and I would stay up late late and watch it, and sometimes I would laugh so loud I'd wake one of my parents up and get in more trouble for laughing, but it was healing and gave me joy and stress relief and was amazing. I still believe Kim Rhodes is amazing ❤
WOW!!!! I am flabbergasted that someone of power would shame a CHILD's body especially in front of them!!! Didn't I read recently that it was Dylan who defended Kim while she was pregnant?
Dylan standing up for Kim about how she was body shamed and vice versa. Such an amazing and caring relationship. So sick that producers and writers do that.
@colleenflett Producers and writers don’t give a damn about the safety or well-being of child stars! They never did. All they care about are ratings and getting their wallets full.
This is truly a very good episode! To this day, I'm still bummed that Wayward Sisters never gotten picked up for series cause Kim fitted perfectly in the Supernatural world but alas... Also, she has aged like fine wine!
You deserve a standing ovation for this episode of Vulnerable, Christy! I mean it. This episode should be required viewing for everybody in the entertainment business, especially those in management positions. What a feather in your cap for getting someone like Kim Rhodes! When she talked about calling out the jackass that body shamed Dylan Sprouse -- to his face with his brother present -- WOW! You do not want to fuck with her. Period. The fury written in her face and in her eyes was palpable. Christy you are doing good work here! I am so very impressed! Thank you for what you're doing for the next generation in your business. Bravo!! Thank you. Take care.
Kim is one of the sweets persons I have ever meet in person while she would be coming into my job. The moment I met her I couldn’t remember where I noticed her from but then it clicked. She’s such a mom and I love her for that! Super sweet person! ❤️
😭 I remember thinking I want to be a mom like her. Finding out that she's also on the autism spectrum makes that puzzle piece fit in my mind. No pun intended.
She was one of my favourite characters on the show!! I’m glad she mentioned that herself and Dylan weren’t okay with the fat shaming/jokes , and to see her insight into things!!
She would be an excellent Aunt May (hear me out). The latest Spider-Man movies showed aunt may can be attractive and have her own life. Rhodes would be great at showing the challenges of a single thriving mother who has a back story or great loss.
This was an insightful honest beautiful conversation. I'm grateful she stood up for Dylan. He recounting that memory. Chills. I'm so glad we are able to see what she's been up too.
Kim - Your retelling of standing up for Dylan at crafty literally brought me to tears. I don't even have words for how much I appreciate that you brought that Mama Bear energy to advocate for not just him, but all child actors in the future to whatever monster said that. 🙌
@FluidoftheDruids I know. Crazy thing is, even though Dylan was slightly chubbier than his brother, it’s not like he was overweight and obese. The 2000s was toxic as hell for us young folks. This also reminds me of the episode when Brenda song (London) was also fat-shamed and compared to a thinner Ashley Tisdale (Maddie). It was the episode where London tried to lose weight after a “friend” called her fat while Maddie tried to gain weight after that “friend” called her too skinny.
Kim is truly a beautiful soul. I am shook she isn’t actively working in the business. But I understand running to the dessert after these instances she mentions. I love k owing the inside scoop because while I dreamed of these experiences my whole life… the reality is just as complex as living without getting that dream. Being body shamed, having your disability ignored, ageism… it’s all hard everywhere. Very vulnerable! Loved this episode! ❤
Love Kim Rhodes. I knew her first from Suite Life, but knew her best from Supernatural. Absolutely stellar on that show. Whenever she came on, whether in her mom role with the girls or in her boss role with Dona/Briana, she lit the shit up of that screen. She was mentor, badass, friend and collegue. She was a real character who had her own thoughts and emotions and own backstory. Such a beautiful woman with a feisty soul that just lights up the screen. This woman needs to be given more roles. Honestly, she just becomes more stunning and vibrant with age.
@@michete She’s on it off and on throughout the years, and absolutely kills it. It’s a really great show. Some situations get a bit repetitive, but I love how the protagonists are flawed characters and the antagonists can be pretty lovable. What I love most about the show is how beautifully everyone plays off one another, because it truly does seem like they created their own small family. You can just feel it through the convention videos, and the fact that actors who were only on the show once or twice join the conventions constantly. It really seemed like the two/three mains created a warm, welcoming environment filled with shenanigans that made other actors want to be there and want to return. As much as I loved the show, I love the people and what they all created together. It’s one of the few shows where you can completely feel the love they have for their fans and for each other.
I love everything about this not only do we get to learn the actors but we learn the story and who they really are. I’m glad I ran across this my childhood was involved all around the classic Disney era!
This episode was amazing!! Makes me wish Disney would make a separate channel for reboots that any of the actors from their generation could create shows because so many people my age would be watching. Make sitcoms with the people who inspired us with reboots or new shows . I cannot be the only one who would love that! Also the way she stood up for Dylan is amazing. She is an amazing person and so glad you had her on the show.
WOW this episode really went there. Thank you for bringing up this conversation Christy, it truly is devastating the effect ageism has on our society with people like Kim who want to work but aren't being given any opportunities. I definitely it is important to bring this awareness to others so that hopefully someday we or the generation after us don't fall down the same hole as well when we get older.
I also grew up watching Kim and with Christy and I love that we get these interviews and we can know the people behind those inspiring characters. Now I can see that those characters were inspiring because they were molded by the people who played them
My favorite teacher from middle school I’m still in touch with. Has helped me through the darkest times of my life and he and his wife are the godparents to my second child.
I love her so much. She's a fabulous, passionate, deeply protective woman. If ever I get back into acting and I play parents, I hope...firstly I don't need to fight for the kids playing my children as much as she did. But if I do, God give me this ferocity and conviction.
Wow, the part where she’s describing the different relationships she had with Dylan and Cole separately and then how she rightfully ripped that person a new one for body shaming a child made my mom heart grow about 3 sizes. She is such a serious badass. This was such an amazing interview, I truly think it was the best one you’ve ever done.
@clw87 I agree! You have to be a sad and insecure little Karen (Or Ken) to humiliate a child about his body type in front of everyone. What’s sad is, I hear that Dylan (Cole too I’m sure) was a nice and great kid to be around one set and everyone liked them both, unlike his character, Zack who was written as selfish and kind of shallow.
This was a great conversation with someone who was on my tv everyday growing up. Listening to Kim now i can't help but feel she was perfectly cast in her role and I always missed her on the spin off. Being the edgy goth girl trying to conform to work but still keep a part of herself brought something even more real and relatable to Carey as a character. Kim is another of the many actors who raised us who never get the recognition they deserved.
😭😭 I loved her energy and vibe sm when she said she was Autistic I was so happy 🥰 because I’m autistic too and I felt a kinship right away when she started talking.
The most conflicting feeling I had was watching Zack and Cody’s mom be someone I hated in Criminal Minds 😂. It was like “oh yay it’s Carrie Martin! Oh no, why is she being mean to Prentiss!”. Love you Kim ❤️

Kim a real 🐐 for what she did for Dylan. I don't know what needs to be done or how it has to be done, but we have to make a reunion between her and the boys happen.
I never understood why her character wasn't on the Spinoff. No, mom is going to let her kids live alone on a boat, even a fake TV mom. The whole storyline of suite life on deck made no sense. It is almost as if a secret predator at Disney saw her as a protective force to the kids on set and then found a way to get rid of her. The more I learn about hollywood, the more it seems that the good people slowly get blacklisted out.
I haven't watched her acting since 2012 probably. I enjoyed her as a child. She was like a FR mom to the twins. As well as others young actors she's worked with. Just love her
Kim is so wise. Would listen to her talk about her experiences forever. I’m so sad she wasn’t included in spin offs it’s ridiculous. She was one of my faves in the show it makes no sense they constantly are so awful to the brightest and kindest souls.
First of all, Kim does NOT look old whatsoever! She does NOT look 54 but ya know what....54 isn't even old!!! I PRAY that Kim finds a good new....LONG role somewhere that she is happy, respected and loved. I LOVED Carrie Martin!! I am 38 so I was on the older end of the viewers back when the show was on but I kept watching certain Disney Shows bc of actors like Carrie and Christy, Raven and Analise, LEIGH Allyn Baker(my favorite actress from Disney maybe), etc.
This insight into Kim is just SO heart-warming and refreshing. It's refreshing to know the person you looked up to as a child is exactly who you thought they were. What a beautiful person. Both of you are!! Inside and out! Thank you for being you and sticking to who you are through and through, even in a scary dangerous machine. People like you all give us all hope there are more good people out there. ❤
Have been loving the podcast but this one really takes the cake! I feel like my childhood is coming full circle. I remember looking up to these ladies growing up and I still do now for better reasons!

Oh my gosh I didn’t know that Kim wasn’t offered a role in Sweet Life On Deck! I always thought she just didn’t want to return. 😢. I feel like that show would have been so great with her as a part of it
Thank you so much for having Kim Rhodes in this episode. Much love to you Christy! ❤
@ 20:03 the way her voice changes. Literally made me burst into tears. That's the most precious, genuine, wholesome thing ive heard in soooo long. Im more in love with her!!
Seeing Kim in this podcast only reminds me why we fell in love with her on suite life.
This was incredible. SHE was incredible. Something about her was just so healing. I went to go look for her on Tik Tok now because I need more of her presence!! 😩
Kim is a queen! She was my favorite Disney mom! Her character was everything ❤
Her, Selena’s mom, and good luck Charlie’s mom 🤌🏻
You both look so young still! You both played huge parts of my childhood and all I can say is thank you!
She always reminded me of my mom. Single mom of two kids, hardworking. This show felt more real and down to earth.
My jaw DROPPED when that man said that about Dylan!!!!!! Good for her and how horrible.
Me too I teared up at the way she said that
@shelbysprinklesdisney1499
Yeah, It’s horrible that a 12-year-old child had to go through that.
Thanks for doing what you do christy !❤❤
why did they regret casting kim ??? she’s still my favorite disney mom along with teresa on wowp
From what I got, it’s because she couldn’t sing and dance?
@@ritster21Kim can sing . That was the point of her character and why she worked at the Tipton.
@@alyssalindsay976 Not good enough for Disney.
@@ritster21Well Disney gets a lot of things wrong.
Probably same reason why they didn't pursue Raven's tv mom. They don't appreciate women who don't fall for the bullshit.
Aww
I can’t believe they didn’t want Kim in the spin off suite life on deck!! As a kid I was so bummed she wasn’t on it! She definitely made that show 🤍🤍
I’m so glad we’re getting this show. These are such under discussed topics that deserve so much attention.
WOW!!!! I am flabbergasted that someone of power would shame a CHILD's body especially in front of them!!! Didn't I read recently that it was Dylan who defended Kim while she was pregnant?
Children aren’t treated like children in acting. They’re employees just like in retail stores.
@@ritster21 sad but true
Dylan standing up for Kim about how she was body shamed and vice versa. Such an amazing and caring relationship. So sick that producers and writers do that.
@colleenflett
Producers and writers don’t give a damn about the safety or well-being of child stars!
Kim could definitely do voice acting work! She has such an expressive cadence 😯
Bravo!! Thank you. Take care.
Wow thank you. I’m tearing up.
You deserve it. @@christycarlsonromano
A great message from Kim Rhodes as a human and actress... We need more inspiration such as herself that has that same positive energy and mentality
Kim is one of the sweets persons I have ever meet in person while she would be coming into my job. The moment I met her I couldn’t remember where I noticed her from but then it clicked. She’s such a mom and I love her for that! Super sweet person! ❤️
I’m glad Kim Rhodes did every episodes of the suite life of Zack and Cody.
😭 I remember thinking I want to be a mom like her. Finding out that she's also on the autism spectrum makes that puzzle piece fit in my mind. No pun intended.
When I realized who the host was….I actually got goosebumps 😮 I love that these two role models are talking about such important topics 😍
Thank you so much!❤️
Her role on suite life was iconic!!! I cant imagine anyone else playing her role
I could totally see her as a cool hip aunt may!
This was an insightful honest beautiful conversation. I'm grateful she stood up for Dylan. He recounting that memory. Chills. I'm so glad we are able to see what she's been up too.
Great episode. I think you guys need another one ASAP. The layers you and Kim were pulling back . I’m here for it
Kim - Your retelling of standing up for Dylan at crafty literally brought me to tears. I don't even have words for how much I appreciate that you brought that Mama Bear energy to advocate for not just him, but all child actors in the future to whatever monster said that. 🙌
@FluidoftheDruids
I know.
Shit made me cry too I'm glad she stuck up for him as a child being called fat is traumatic
Wait I've actually never had any interest in watching that show but knowing she appears makes me want to lol
Knew there was a reason she was my favorite Disney mom. Kim is amazing!
She was a great tv mom 👍🏽
I love everything about this not only do we get to learn the actors but we learn the story and who they really are. I’m glad I ran across this my childhood was involved all around the classic Disney era!
This episode was amazing!! Makes me wish Disney would make a separate channel for reboots that any of the actors from their generation could create shows because so many people my age would be watching. Make sitcoms with the people who inspired us with reboots or new shows . I cannot be the only one who would love that! Also the way she stood up for Dylan is amazing. She is an amazing person and so glad you had her on the show.
It may be possible now due to them now owning all these different companies that aren't necessarily Disney
@clw87
I agree!
Nice to see Kim again. You both are awesome actors and individuals.
We love her! She played such a pivotal role in all of our childhoods..literally.
She’s honestly so cool and real and I want her to thrive wherever and doing whatever she wants.
Today marks the 20th anniversary of Disney Channel's "Kim Possible: A Sitch in Time".
The most conflicting feeling I had was watching Zack and Cody’s mom be someone I hated in Criminal Minds 😂. It was like “oh yay it’s Carrie Martin! Oh no, why is she being mean to Prentiss!”. Love you Kim ❤️
What episode is it? I wanna watch it
@@LadyD420 it’s in season 13. She’s in for 4 episodes as the Executive Assistant Director of the FBI, Linda Barnes. Think she first appears episode 13 ❤
Just love her
it's weird seeing her with a sleeve tatt, cause she was such a mom on Suite Life haha
Yessss! Omg i got emotional myself when Kim stood up for Dylan! Please please have her on again!
Weird how some people think 30 is old!
Truly insane!! lol@@oooh19
I didn’t know that it was possible to fall even more in love with Kim Rhodes until I listened to this
Kim is so genuine and down to earth. 😊
I love Kim...thanks for being honest about your truth in the industry
I agree Kim’s hair looks so good
The Suit Life of Zach & Cody was my absolute favorite Disney show!
This was fascinating. I was... ten? I think? When suite life premiered. So happy to have validation and see that Kim was just as awesome as I had imagined. Loved this episode.
Gahdamn Kim brings that Shakespearean DRAMA when she’s speaking I fucking love it 😂💗
Ohmygosh thank you so much for having Kim on. She’s a fantastic actor and a fantastic woman, she was really a mom to all of us-all while being super cool. I love that she went from Shakespeare to The Suite Life 😆 actors are so cool, what a stylistic whiplash. I would love to see her in Shakespeare, maybe Two Gentlemen of Verona or Midsummer Night’s Dream.
Edit: I wish she talked about Criminal Minds, I LOVED seeing her on that
I'm so proud of Kim for sticking up for Dylan. That's terrible he got body shamed. Cuss away!
That was such a relaxing episode! Natural conversation and didn’t feel forced like some podcasts. I enjoyed this!
Kim, is honestly amazing. Back then, most people kept their mouth shut and said nothing usually out of fear. She definitely was their mother at that moment. I always thought she was the coolest Mom on disney! You're amazing, Kim. Thanks for being a fantastic human!! ❤
Ugh, I love Kim Rhodes. As a "zillenial?" I followed Kim from Suite Life to Supernatural. I think the work she does is fantastic, and her being in dialogue with Christy is POWERFUL. Love the conversation.
It wasn’t the spouse twins that were on that even Stevens episode. It was the twins from Everybody loves Raymond.
Spikey mom was iconic !!! 🤩
Suit life will forever be a classic. Loved the entire cast. Watched growing up and watch it my kids today.
It was great to hear what Kim’s experience was like working with the Sprouse Twins on the first Suite Life Series! Her comment on what Cole thought about her being an ex-goth was hilarious!
