@@five12man still. finding that gen of toyota with a title at all for under a grand is insane. at this point the 84-88s start at 4 digits if there's a title, at least around my area
Seriously!!😂😂 Why did you delete your newest video about the future of all(and it's so many) of your vehicles and builds that don't work even remotely? Almost like you were embarrassed by yourself😂😂😂😂
Most folks don’t know Toyota made a factory turbo truck back in the 80’s, ‘85-‘87. 22RTE was the engine designation. I owned one (1985 auto) and it was one of my all time favorites to this day.
So awesome to see people modding toyota pickups to be fun and fast. I have a never ending 1uzfe project going and seeing this totally motivated me. Super dope truck!
What is your UZ project? Are you putting one in a Toyota pickup as well? I'm in the same boat as you as far as it being a never ending project haha I have a 78 Hilux and a 95 1uzfe
Bro, it looks like you filmed in and around Albuquerque. Turbos are a must at 5000+ feet of elevation! I had a ‘75 Toyota RV conversion with an equally old draw-through turbo setup on it. It felt like it had a small block when it came on boost! Only drawback was carburetor icing...
One of the most fun races i ever had was in a 1989 toyota pickup 2wd 4 speed (red as well, reminds me so much of that shell), and did 2 b2b stoplight to stoplight races with a late 80s early 90s nissan pickup manual. Me and the nissan driver were grinning ear to ear and bouncing in our seats... it was magic lol. 1st and 2nd gear we were about deadlocked then in 3rd my lil yota started barely pulling out. It was so fun despite that i doubt we ever actually broke the speed limit either time 😂😂
Saw the thumbnail and was like hell yeah I’m watching this when I get home from work! Seriously, love that you do reviews like this…I’d rather watch this and the “weird stuff” than a video on a new Lamborghini or Ferrari. Everybody tries to cover the latest and greatest and I get it, that stuff is cool too but this is so much more relatable. I think you cover the best combination / widest variety of cars / car culture and I love that you do the super budget builds too and not just the people who buy a new super car every month. Thanks for all you do and for having a great attitude, and for the sacrifices you make for giving us awesome content. Have a good one man!
We need more unique builds like this you wouldn't expect this at all and that's the best part. It was probably cheap to boost too. I want you to do review my car eventually too. Gotta get a few things fixed first.
One thing I enjoy about you and your channel is that even after all these years and all the cars you've driven, you're still grounded. This truck was objectively a piece of crap, but you can still enjoy it for what it is. Props to you man.
These are my favorite trucks ever. And I love how you drive so many budget builds it really shows people you don't have to spend 10s of thousands of dollars to have a cool fun vehicle
Love this thing, been watching it be built slowly over on his channel. I have a 92 pickup with the 5 speed and single cab, lowered and unmolested, but maybe one day I’ll toss a 2rz in it 😅 they take boost well because they come with forged con rods from factory.
This is so kickass I’m beside myself. The only thing I would do different is source a cleaner single cab chassis without rust. In CA we have them everywhere.
If you think thats rad, look into the tacos cheaper and rustier cousin the nissan D21, those KA24s are nuts when turbod. Many build sleeper/drift trucks out of them
I have a 88 with the 22r it is slow as hell but always runs , bought suspension off of Rock Auto for cheap and it rides way better .Thinking off doing a swap now though !
It's funny you posted this, i just picked up a 1982 subaru brat with thr seats in the back from factory. As much as id love to see you do a video on my truck its definitely not making jt to georgia
amazing. my buddy in high school had a 4runner and we swore the clutch was gone... maybe it was that non-lockup as well. i mean, clutch was probably still gone, who were we kidding lmao
Dude seems pretty chill. Cool truck, wish i could find a Toyota pickup for $350. (Yes even a shell) Im in the northwest and everyone wants nine million dollars for a clapped out 300 thousand mile rusted toyota
I recently sold my bone stock 87 Toyota long bed xtra cab with the 22R. 296K miles. Owned it almost 20 years, and sold it off for $500 more than the initial purchase price. Unreal workhorse trucks. And very slow. HAHA!
Had a white pickup with 22rec we had turbocharger and used a bosh fuel pump and fuel pressure reg that raised with boost back in the piggy back days that 22r block was fragile and would break on a hard launch or if you looked at it wrong or called it a bad name but they would keep running and leak oil everywhere from the cracked block
Boosted yota mini truck pickup, is the biggest yes 🙌🏻 low key jealous
Hell yeah
body rust is just weight reduction.
love sleepers!
Facts!
The most shocking thing about this is that a pre 2000 truck with a toyota badge on it was purchased for $350
Bought a shell for 350, clickbait title. 850 for both and spent more but I'm just being pedantic. At 5:50 he said he's $2500 in
@@five12man2500 in for a 300 hp truck thats still pretty cheap
@@five12man still. finding that gen of toyota with a title at all for under a grand is insane. at this point the 84-88s start at 4 digits if there's a title, at least around my area
@@five12man All things considered, $2500 in is still impressive. Classic Toyota trucks are so damn expensive 🥲
All facts. Toyota trucks are ridiculously priced even not running
Oh snap that's the guy who built the Hilux, love that guy's content.
Seriously - this was so surprising.
@@ThatDudeinBlue idk if you’re in the Illuminati but Lord Jesus loves you bro!

That dudes channel is cool, he has a video of him 1uz swapping his old hilux and his authentic level of excitement when he gets it running is awesome
He knows his stuff for sure. I’ve been watching him for a little while now.
A manual swap would be cool. Would love to see you improve the suspension on your truck. It was so much fun.
It has a manual box now.
Dude acting like if he was there

My truck used to run the 22RE and it was such a dog, I always longed for the RTE. The 22RE was super reliable but man it made no power
@ the RTE motor really didn’t make that much more power. From my recollection, it was only 19 hp and 33 foot pounds of torque.
The "most people don't know" comments are so fucking annoying
“Most people don’t know” google exists, they know.

What an awesome truck. His YT channel has some pretty cool stuff.
The guy who built the truck actually got a 98 4Runner transmission for a manual swap. The difference in acceleration was crazy
It really woke the truck up that’s for sure! I’m excited to get that truck back out this spring!
Honestly, this is such a perfect sleeper. You would never in a million years suspect this truck
Redlineranch builds really dope trucks and his channel has to be one of my favorites on UA-cam for Toyota builds..

Man this brings back memories. We used the same truck as our shop truck and beat the crap out of it hauling parts and engines back and forth.
Also, I bet the homies would want a ride in that more than a new/fast car 🤣
Finally the RZ is getting the love it should. Hell with K swap, RZ swap. factory W58 and R154 options
I'm glad that people are finally realizing the versitility of these old minitruck platforms, I just hope they can stay as cheap as they are.

Just put some Rockauto shocks and you might live whipping that thing 😂
This is so rad
This truck is what drew me to his channel and he does anazing stuff with old classic toyotas
Ooohh, a rusty deathtrap made of paper and socks with 300whp? I’m here for it.
Awww... my dad still has one with the re22... I love that thing! Still purrs and hauls! ❤
200$ in shock absorbers is all it needs 👌
I have/had several 80’s Toyota pickups. All 22R or 22RE engines, they’re simple bulletproof trucks

Well done, I love this body style. I would like to put a 1UZ 4 liter in one of these.👍🏾
Atleast it's a Toyota. 1990-2000 model Toyotas are typically indestructible I love them.

Better transmission and this would be a blast.
Non lock up torque is wild, you could be doing 1000hp and it would still put down like 100hp, crazy reliable tho
Super cool!!
