You may have already seen this video but this is a re-upload/Remix version of the same iceberg Video after being hit with a copyright claim a few weeks ago. After the video got claimed, I've decided to remove it and not just fix the copyright issue, but all or most of the mistakes I made on the video itself that have been pointed out in the comments. What do I mean Remix? This version is basically the same iceberg but with the issues mentioned in the original upload fixed along with new topics and more information on some existing topics. This is the definitive edition of the midnight club iceberg. I also plan to bring back the original video in some capacity for comparison (and endure cringe). So yeah, hope you enjoy this new version of the midnight club iceberg. Here is the original iceberg video if anyone wants to watch it and even compare on what was changed/added. ua-cam.com/video/x7HewEEaLZ0/v-deo.html
How I got the Audi R8 (5k special use requirement): - Position car to face ocean - Go online - Tape your nitrous button down - Go to sleep Nitrous counted as a “special use,” and crashing your car in the ocean while online doesn’t ask for a button prompt to reset; it just sets you back to your previous position (facing the ocean). So about every 10 seconds your car will accrue 1 special use. If you fall asleep and come back 8 hours later you will have added nearly 3k uses. I felt really smart figuring this out by myself 😂
You missed out one thing there was an anime named 'Wangan Midnight' just like 'Initial D'. Wangan Midnight was about the real life story of the Midnight Club of japan
Midnight Club is a rare example of a series that kept getting better overtime. From 2 onwards they were all good but MCLA was just a perfect racing game
Honestly, disagree. MC3 was the peak, MCLA was rushed (foreshadowing the fall of R* San Diego from rushing them into games), from the lack of extensive customization (seriously, even the PSP version of MC3 had more!) to the smaller car list and map, it is a damn good game, but not the peak.
@@rotarydude9737 Those things were disappointing, but for me the real let down with MCLA was the physics. In Midnight Club 3 you could really see and feel the suspension interact with bumps in the road and body roll when cornering. You could also make both drift and grip builds viable, and the drifting took actual skill. Drifting in MCLA just felt wrong, you basically didn't have to counter steer, your car would just loose speed and streighten out all on its own. I really loved the first person view though, and the option to use the right stick for shifting.
That's what I did. Mostly I just didn't want to loose cars I spent hours making paintjobs for. I guess if I can figure out the saving feature for vinyls, it wouldn't be so bad, as even if I couldn't win the car back, I could buy another later and put it back. Either that or just use burner cars with only performance upgrades.
To each their own, some people have fun playing it like this, but personally it just takes the thrill out of it for me, I mean it's just kinda funner playing with a big risk, is it not?
Midnight Club 3's soundtrack exposed me to the N-word uncensored (Body-Head Anthem by Roy Jones Jr. Feat. Choppa), and the idea of Sex (Jump on it by Trick Daddy). It is an enigma to how the game was still Rated E+10.
I played the games from day 1. I was part of the Import Knightz in Part 2 Online. I know the owner of the Rimbuk and Kubmir codes and Dustin from the cover. You did a pretty good job with the video. I think I’d go into more the Dustin “Mischief” link which is really cool. There were a lot of us that made this game legendary back in the day and we’re basically forgotten because the internet was new. One thing you didn’t review was swerving being a way to reach top speed in 2 and how it played a huge roll in racing that unfortunately made it to 3. Also the huge capture the flag presence which many don’t know because they weren’t there. There were a ton of clubs but only about 5 really made it to the top with racing and CTF. It spawned one huge rivalry that IK won due to the other team not showing up. It’s unfortunate that you guys don’t know Spirit R, OmegaKnight, Laszlo, Zen, Nefas, and Kubmir. We had a very cool community and much of those connections still exist today and potentially records that nobody has ever seen. Best of luck and btw you will never see another Midnight Club by R*. But don’t expect anyone in the know to discuss why. Until I see you next, I’ll be racing in GTA and real life.
Midnight Club 2 is such a great classic, the debate between 2 and 3/3 DUB Edition Remix AND MCLA is crazy. MC2, for me, I think was the last truly underground racing type of game to ever release. MC2 just has a very unique charm that I can't seem to share with other titles. And the soundtrack on that game oh my gooddddddd. I miss it all...
48:38 Oh god, I thought I was imagining things for years! I always used to have these "glitches" where I would be racing full speed and a long way ahead of everyone else and a black car would appear out of nowhere just a bit ahead of me, no markings, just a misterious car barely faster than me... I used to think it was a Skyline, but now, more than a decade later, I find out it was real. Damn.
I remember on my first play through of MCLA I completed the pink slip races and realized that there was only so many of them you could win. After that, over half the parking lot was empty and it just looked pitiful. I did a second playthrough years later in which I saved the pink slip races until after I completed Carol's final task to get him a million bucks which unlocks everything. Pink slip races are not career reliant, so you can choose to do them late game, or even skip them entirely. Doing that I made a long list of custom beater cars and intentionally lost pink slip races at all the different car parks just to fill the parking lots. It's a lot prettier seeing 7 cars there instead of just 3.
41:44 I don't think any racing game even has this damn 😂🙆🏽♂️ but hey it's Rockstar. They are known to put in a lot of details in their games, big props to them 👌🏽✨
one fact, when you type NFSSUCKS on the license plate, police dispatcher says "Need for speed sucks" which implies that entire Nfs franchise and nfs undercover as a whole sucks ass EDIT: Ok apparently you cannot trigger the voiceline as it's actually cut in the game. It has the audio files but yeah you can't trigger it. Sorry for my misinformation I did a while ago.
I remember many years ago playing Midnight Club LA on my Xbox 360, and I had to reset the game entirely. I lost 4-5 of my cars in pink slip races trying to win them back. I was so angry at the time
You forgot to mention that the Lusso XT from MC2 is able to reach even faster speeds when using the fishtail technique and is also a thing you can do in MC3 to reach the top speed cap in the game
No manual transmission option though, and it's in the gridny microtransaction hellscape that is GTA online. Though for me just the fact that it is an online only mode is enough to turn me off, I don't like game companies being able to take things away from me.
R* in general isn't too keen on PC ports (i.e. GTA IV, Bully Scholarship Edition) so to expect one from the first three is near impossible at this rate
It's ironic how DMA/R* started making games for the PC (e.g. GTA 1 and 2), but the moment they started making them for console (GTA 3), PC went to the back burner. GTA 5 is the only good R* PC port, which is probably why it took 2 years to come out.
Well, if they did release it in PC you bet that it will turned into racing version of gta 5 (make it online and continously releasing remastered versions)
I've never even played a Midnight Club game, but this was really interesting. Nice work! Small critique/suggestion: I would add either a titlecard for small pause between topics, because sometimes topics would switch and the only way I knew was because the text at the bottom changed. Tiny little nitpick, but ya know.
Here are two you missed from Midnight Club 3: Drift boosting and out of bounds glitch. * Drift boosting requires you play with manual transmission, during a drift, you downshift so the engine redlines, now instead of loosing speed, you gain speed mid-drift, even above the car's normal top speed. Just make sure you shift up again as you exit the drift. * The out of bounds glitch is in Tokyo during split screen, if you doughnut against the garage door, you can glitch through into the buildings.
The 1999 accident happened years before that, it didn’t disband them. They also weren’t labeled as a club, and had become rather popular as apparent by magazines from the early 90’s.
I knew a large majority of these things, but damn, i feel dumb for not figuring out the 619 reference. This is a good video, thanks for putting this together
If I’m not mistaken, there’s a tcrf webpage about MC1 SR’s prototype build that consisted of a model of the cut Tokyo map. There’s also some cut traffic for MC2 that was found on the PlayStation version. Racing Freak had done a restoration on these vehicles for the PC version, but has yet to release them. Mention of these models can also be found on tcrf.
I’ve broken sooooo many controllers losing my shit over this game. Between the pink slip races or being on the last lap of a race and a random truck spawns in front of me and fucks me over. Best racing games tho I wish they would bring them it back 🏆
I remember losing my car, it was the Chevrolet Camaro Concept DUB Editio or the Dodge Challenger Concept DUB Edition. Then I had to speedrun with the other car until it was enough tuned, so I could win my first car back. That was actually an exciting mechanic for a racing game, more exciting than even NFS Heat's Heat at night (where you gamble your night's winnings by either continuing playing and upping your Heat, or drive home and save your night earnings before you risk getting caught on the next chase). Wish we had something like that today for racing games.
During the time trails in midnight club la you can accidentally lock yourself out of 100% game progression in the 360 version and ps3 version of the game all it takes is for you to get a time limit that's either 20 seconds or 10 seconds left and after second and third time trial they become impossible to finish but thanks to the updated version rockstar made it easy where you're given enough more than enough time to finish them
omg, this is so well put together. I really appreciate all the effort you put into making this. I love this game series, maybe in a near future Rockstar will finally throw us fans a bone.
Cool video love the effort, but it was very confusing changing the entries in the same part of an iceberg i would still think you were talking about the same entry
Muscle Car Achievement is of a 1968 Dodge Dart Drag that was officially sold by dodge for drag races. The Hood scoop ive seen some kinds of small details on GTA Online cars, certain ones have the middle and are hood scoops, but not full Dodge Dart hood scoops. If thats the car you think it was, then yeah your right.

I played Midnight Club LA Remix (PSP), the player's name said it himself that he is Matthew when he raced Fumiko or when she challenged the player to race, if I remembered it correctly.
Just watched the first one as it was in my watch later before i seen it was unlisted and replaced by this one lol but Anyway, One of the Cut loading songs from MC3 was Hustla by Nappy Roots. If you loop the first 9-10 seconds of the song its a PERFECT fit to the game
this video is very detailed and enjoyed it a lot, it brought me some nostalgia. it's rare for me to finish videos this long as a matter of fact it's rare for me to comment so you know the video was a fun ride (or dive)
I remember playing midnight club los angeles on the ps3 and it was amazing, but all I remember when playing was freeroam and racing, nothing else though I love the real location and licensed cars
I remember when I was younger I saw promotional posters outside Hollywood video store for Midnight club 2. And I remember the rating on the game was M for mature before release.
Gonna add to this that on the original Xbox when you raced any of the bikes, when you crash the bike pause the game then resume it again, the rider will disappear and the bike will be the only thing that can be seen. I can't tell if anyone else experienced this.
Thanks for the video. It was nice to see and hear some new infos and trivias about the series. However for the part at 10:51: After many years of enermous ammount of trying, I could never get better, so nowadays I just watch others playing instead and accept the fact that I'm lame, when it comes to playing with the MC games.
The muscle car trophy/achievement is undoubtedly a 68/69/70 Dodge Charger. Probably a 68 or 70, given the lack of a split grill, but that could just be an artistic choice in the simplified style.
Always found it strange that these games were named after Mid Night club that had a completely different racing style. Tokyo Extreme Racer was an actual representation of what the Mid Night club did.
29:10 Fun fact: player name was Matthew or Judas but in psp port the scene that you see the player's mom calling him Matthew and voice actor of Matthew/Judas was named Matthew metzger was voice acted the player's name
If you manage to clip your camera into your car in midnight club 2, you could see the driver. He’s wears a blue shirt and has short hair. You can’t see his face though
The Police Rubberbanding from MC3 should have been mentioned and the Police ramming into racers when the race is finished in MC3 should also have been mentioned
I recently got midnight club la on my computer uhhh completely legally don't ask questions, I actually might play it now I've just been sitting on it for awhile

I doubt brands would sell themselves like that ever again. I think that's biggest issue.
I highly doubt about a new game but possibly a remaster if rockstar learnt their lesson from the defective edition of San Andreas
clearly after covid crisis they wont make a sequel
Midnight club 2 was probably one of my most favorite racing games of all time period it still holds the test of time so well.

Still wondering what was the reason behind it tho.
R* in general isn't too keen on PC ports (i.e. GTA IV, Bully Scholarship Edition) so to expect one from the first three is near impossible at this rate
it could be because of the rampant piracy issues around that time (III, VC, & San Andreas being pirated to the brim)

Hey guys maybe that dialogue was probably the backstory of the protagonist. And maybe it was cut but it’s just a theory.
I’m so not glad that I wasted that time driving 5000 miles to get the Audi R8 in this game

Always found it strange that these games were named after Mid Night club that had a completely different racing style. Tokyo Extreme Racer was an actual representation of what the Mid Night club did.

If you manage to clip your camera into your car in midnight club 2, you could see the driver. He’s wears a blue shirt and has short hair. You can’t see his face though
There's no driver inside.
