I think one of the reasons why MCLA sold so poorly was because the lack of marketing, I remember around 2009 (a year after it's release) I had no idea the game was even out, I never seen any commercial or poster being up for the game, I only found out about the games release was because I UA-cam search "new midnight club" I think with all this new technology/hardware we have; Rockstar could create something groundbreaking with a new Midnight Club, maybe giving Forza Horizon & NFS a run for there money, hopefully we could see a new Midnight Club in our lifetime, it would be pretty great. Also great video man!
I probably should have mentioned it definetly. The marketing was very poor, but that applied to all Midnight Club games and each new MC game did get more traction than its previous installment. Midnight Club always had mostly relied on word of mouth, really. Guess time had shifted and marketing was mostly the way to get a successful game out.
@@grandtheftaero1 Oh yeah, not to mention UA-cam wasn't as popular as it is today, time's definitely have changed and I think Rockstar could most definitely see a lot of big sales coming if they decided to create another Midnight Club, since there competition (NFS) is slowly dying out. Just look at Red Dead 2, sold over ($700M in 3 days) and barely pushed out any trailers for the game, the hype UA-camrs build and the massive success GTA 5 brought to the company R* can sell water and everyone would buy it, so them releasing another Midnight Club wouldn't even be considered a risk.
@@grandtheftaero1 If MC relied more on word of mouth, I guess you could call that a real Midnight Club ;) As for MCLA, I was aware of the title but I didn't own a PS3. All I knew was I was SOL.
I followed the production of MCLA on their website as they added new screen shots and videos. The online community for MC3 seemed HUGE so I guess Rockstar figured that all the MC3 fans would just simply migrate to MCLA. There was the Rockstar Social club that talked about new games coming out. They probably thought that was enough!

The closest one so far for creating MC races is (ironically) GTAO. The race creator in Forza Horizon 4 doesn't come close
Here's another fun fact: The midnight club logo was inspired by the Wangan Midnight manga, which features the same stylized lettering used in the Midnight Club logo. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wangan_Midnight
It's also probably the reason why this kanji letters were removed in the Japanese versions. Since with them it might give the impression of games being related to the manga.

The music, from trance and electronic to underground hip hop was a perfect fit and also enhanced the atmosphere. And the characters really added a bit of uniqueness and personality to the game that I missed in MC3 and LA.
In my opinion MC3 was my favorite mainly because of the OST, customization, and car list. The car list includes some amazing and iconic tuners and supercars consisting of the McLaren F1, the Pagani Zonda C 12 S, the tuners consisting of the Skyline and the Supra, and despite the customization being the same for each tuner, (not the other types of cars tho) I still love this game more than the others, with MCLA coming in a close second, followed by MC2, and MC1 in last

Michael No they didn’t lmao quit talking out your ass. Rockstar has never commented on whether or not they’ll make another MNC, there’s only been articles written by media sites *assuming* they won’t make another MNC after what happened in 2009, but nothing ever from Rockstar themselves - they never talk. If you don’t know, the reason why we haven’t gotten a new game is cause the original MNC team within Rockstar San Diego deteriorated and very few remained. A couple got fired and many major people left because they didn’t want to work on RDR among other huge issues within Rockstar at the time. Also, Midnight Club was one of Rockstar’s biggest money makers next to GTA, right before RDR was a thing. It’s possible they won’t make one again, but it’s highly unlikely they drop it for good.
Watched another documentary a few days ago wich was fine but watched this completely, litterly blew me away. What a masterpiece u have made! A true ride trough my childhood. Liked and subbed !
When I started the video I didn’t realize it was two hours. But my love for this game and the amazing editing gone into this video kept me from the realization.😂
Can't believe you made this, over 2 hours at that quality level, with Rockstar-level quality "trailers" in between chapters so we can easily stop and pick up watching later; amazing effort! The background info alone is fantastic as I had not known what effort went into making one of my all-time favourite racing games, MC2.
an over 2 hour video documenting one of my favourite video game franchises ever, covering everything about it. Goddamnit I wanna crawl through the screen and give you a hug.
It's supposed to give the feeling of another street race going on while you're in your own street race. But maybe due to hardware limits they abandoned that idea and just left one car of that idea in that particular race. I remember MC2 also did this but used normal traffic cars instead in Hector's race.
i miss this series SO BAD! I've always preferred MC's controls/car handling over all other racing games, so I was pissed when I heard that San Diego closed. The Arcade racing sub-genre was at its peak during the PS2 era, and is at its worse now. I wish we could get a MC 3: Dub Edition remix remaster or remake.
@@marbl3d45 You're correct that San Diego didn't close, not sure why I said that. But the team within the San Diego studio that was in charge of MC was dissolved after key people were fired and/or left.
This is one of the most professionally made videos I have ever seen on UA-cam. The formatting, the way you cut it, the music addition, the shots that demonstrate the sections... It was orgasmic to watch.
Midnight Club series needs to be remastered. Imo MCSR is the best but that’s bias since it was one of my first games that popped my cherry. Come one guys let’s petition for a MC REMASTERY!!
Midnight club 3 created my love of cars. This whole series holds a special place in my heart. Thankyou for this colossal video detailing the series history
I could've sworn that i was playing MCLA Complete Edition, and Karol sent a message saying that "more high performance vehicles are coming soon". I SWEAR!!!!!

@@LeonardoBruno54 Didnt say it was full on simcade, it leans more towards simcade than arcade compared to previous games. You cant ridiculously slide anymore and need to brake in order to take sharp turns properly and traction control is a huge part of the game's driving mechanics.

44 min in and I love this documentary! Man I miss this series!!! My hope is that since Rockstar brought red dead back I hope midnight club is next to come back!
Love the outro with the tribute to all the midnight clubs in, each one of those games takes me back to a kid playing them sad to see the whole thing go out like that
"I'm so fast I always finish first, just ask my girlfriend" WOAAHHH my dude. I never realized why I was so confused by that line as a kid. Thanks Rockstar, Disney of the gaming world.
This was an amazing video about one of my favorite series of all time. The amount of work and dedication it must have taken to put this video together is awesome and I thank you for making it. I got such a nostalgia high listening to all the music from my childhood. Again, Thank you for making this.
This was without a doubt a very well spent 2 hours and 20 mimutes of my time. A full fledged, well edited, well researched and extremely dedicated documentary of my favorite racing franchise of all time. You provided literally every single little detail for every game and even gave me some info that I wasn't aware of, which I really did not think was possible since I put at least fifty days plus worth of my life on each Midnight Club game. This franchise means so much to me and still pains me to this day that we may never see another installment to it. It also pains me to know that Midnight Club Los Angeles did not perform that well considering just how much time money and dedication was put into the game. It both saddens and disappoints me that Rockstar would enforce such harsh working conditions on their staff which probably helped disband the original team from Angel Studios. I can only hope that Midnight Club will make a return and receive the credit it truly deserves. But until then, we will forever have the memories of what is without a doubt the best arcade racing franchise EVER. I think I speak for every hardcore Midnight Club fan when I say thank you so much for making this video and paying homage for such a game. Your time and dedication really showed and you deserve WAY more views. Here's hoping for the return of Midnight Club! ✊👍
I recently got back into Midnight Club:LA with a download of the Complete Edition on my XBOX One, and I have to say, when I had it originally for the 360 I didn't love it, but it has now become one of my all time favourite games, I actually downloaded it after playing NFS:Payback and being very disappointed (having always been a big time NFS fan) I think LA did everything Payback could have done but didn't. I really want to see a new Midnight Club, but GTA Online seems to have done that since they kind of combine all efforts into it.
That introduction of MC3 genuinely brought tears to my eyes. The memories are heavy, I loved that game, I really wish it was ported to PC so it could get a new life online. 1:03:38 sidenote, this guy is voiced by the same voice actor as Woozie from San Andreas
What an interesting documentary! While I still remember Midnight Club II as the first Midnight Club game that I've ever played, I will still remember the good ol times I had with this series. You deserve a sub. ;)
Midnight Club 3 has the greatest replayability of any game, ever, imo. It was one of the first games I ever played as a kid and I still play it all the time. There's just so much to do and it's so much fun that I could be (and have been) playing it forever.
Thank you for this absolute gem ! Was an hardcore fan of the series, especially the 3 remix who i spent thousands of hours playing on the PS2 online. Free roaming around Tokyo with friends, doing drift loops, doing crazy jumps in Atlanta , finding glitches on the map (there was some crazy glitches and ton of hidden places), playing 8players CTF... I remember playing the last day before the shutdown of the Gamespy servers, there was still people playing. Since, I never had such fun on a racing game. Los Angeles was very good (insane graphics and good driving) but poor replay-ability / content. This is very sad that the series ended. There is no more good "street racing" games anymore, and I tried/played countless of them (Actually i enjoyed a lot TDU1 but the 2 was a disaster, im not even talking about The Crew lol). Everybody switched now to Forza. Those are good games but were is the magic of old street racing games ? We want insane speed, totaly ridiculous handlings, big fucking jumps, ton of cars, big cities with cool shortcuts and hidden spots, cool multiplayer, customization... Maybe one day there will be a great successor of the Midnight Club series!
You said the opponents would constantly taunt you but the first example was a guy saying "I'll always finish first. Ask my girlfriend, she'll tell you" Dude was dissin himself lol
You reviewed my childhood basically right here. I grew up on this series and I hate that another never came to happen (probably never will either). Thank you for this video it's the best thing I've watched on UA-cam or anywhere else for that matter.

@concernedcommenter LOL you want the game to have bugs for a month?
@concernedcommenter playground said they don't prefer the gameplay style of the midnight club series...
All players are hoping
every so often I come back to this video and am blown away by the production quality.
Imagine if Rockstar made a remake of it but now it's placed on 1980-90s Japan and it would tell the story of the irl Midnight Club.
Interesting
Ikr?
that's called a "sequel"
you might have heard of that
That would kinda be like a Tokyo Xtreme Racer type of game tho. Doesn’t really fit the style of Rockstar.
Still hoping new Midnight Club.
For story wise it wont the club has since disbanded in 99
The new game will never be released. Rockstar has said that several times.
this was my first game when I first got my ps3 shit i was 8 most fun game ever
It’s canceled soz
Midnight club LA still looks good to this day
I still play it on my 40 inch HDTV.Looks great!
Still looks good on 2021
Better than the new nfs and forza games
Freakin nice job!
Vadim M true
See you on Topic of the largest Rdr2.
Vadim M is here what the heck
Freakin!
@Vadim M do rdr2 beta videos
Midnight club will be in my heart forever
an over 2 hour video documenting one of my favourite video game franchises ever, covering everything about it. Goddamnit I wanna crawl through the screen and give you a hug.
There is still one thing left we haven't realized:
*Who is that mystery racer that appears in the race Rev Limit in MC3?*
@AlexGRFan97
That’s possible.
@AlexGRFan97 It's probably just a scripted AI Racer acts like a traffic car
OMG I forgot all about this! Good memory! I remember thinking it was a bug but I like the theory of it possibly being Dice from MCII
It's supposed to give the feeling of another street race going on while you're in your own street race.
But maybe due to hardware limits they abandoned that idea and just left one car of that idea in that particular race.
I remember MC2 also did this but used normal traffic cars instead in Hector's race.
MC3 had the best soundtrack. I bought every edition. It was the ultimate street racing game.
I miss you Midnight Club
yes :(
Same here!
i miss this series SO BAD!
Rockstar San Diego?
Bro delete this R* SA isn’t shut down
@@marbl3d45 You're correct that San Diego didn't close, not sure why I said that. But the team within the San Diego studio that was in charge of MC was dissolved after key people were fired and/or left.
Ending of this genuinely got me sad, great job man!
Yay?
This is one of the most professionally made videos I have ever seen on UA-cam. The formatting, the way you cut it, the music addition, the shots that demonstrate the sections... It was orgasmic to watch.
One of the greatest documentarys ever on youtube. Just thank you, definitely pledging for more projects like this.
Midnight club 2 is best in my opinion..

I watched the whole thing
Absolute Perfection. I'm so glad that even to this day, midnight club is still not forgotten. This...is a nice goodbye to the series.
Editing on steroids 👌10/10
I Miss Midnight Club games, just sad about how it ends
The Midnight Club games were fun, stylish, and beautiful, much like this video.
midnight club II was the most fun for me. best one in my opinion
and its a hard challenge also.
Good God, MC: LA is just a few days over 10 years old :O
Btw MC: 3 DER is the best one
ThatHipTurtle i was 16 when the last one came out, I feel old.
MC2...
MC3 was the pinickle of arcade racing games

@@MerlautJones A reply from someone who has never played the older games
Midnight Club series needs to be remastered. Imo MCSR is the best but that’s bias since it was one of my first games that popped my cherry. Come one guys let’s petition for a MC REMASTERY!!
Midnight club 3 created my love of cars. This whole series holds a special place in my heart. Thankyou for this colossal video detailing the series history
Kinda makes me sad that this game fell from terrible management.
I could've sworn that i was playing MCLA Complete Edition, and Karol sent a message saying that "more high performance vehicles are coming soon". I SWEAR!!!!!
Still waiting for any midnight club port on the ps4 store.. The pain is killing me.
PS3 psn store had all three.
MC Street Racing
MC2
and MC3 Remix.
However the last two were removed and only MC Street Racing is there..
@@TheFurryInShambles And L.A isn't there anymore as well unless if bought it before that then it should be in your download list.
@@TheFurryInShambles every single midnight club is now removed I’m going to go insane
@@noaharkadedelgado2318 it’s on Xbox one I just bought it!!
My fav car was Hector's red sport car. I loved it so much, sometimes when I didn't have my memory card I would just do the story till that level just to unlock the car and do stunts and f around the map with it. Mc2 btw.
Also great vid :)
I’m happy I grew up in this era. It made me a gear head and hungry to actually go after some of these cars. Keep hustling boyz we’ll get there!
It's incredible how the whole history of midnight club spans up to 2 hours long. One of the best racing series I've played
ain't that the truth.
Midnight Club LA still looks pretty good even after all these years.
But it's not simcade at all. Full on arcade.
@@LeonardoBruno54 Didnt say it was full on simcade, it leans more towards simcade than arcade compared to previous games. You cant ridiculously slide anymore and need to brake in order to take sharp turns properly and traction control is a huge part of the game's driving mechanics.
@@grandtheftaero1 fair enough, leans more towards simcade but it still is full on arcade. Regardless of this, this video me want to play 3 and LA again.
its funny just how much stuff from LA was in GTA5, you could tell Rockstar San Diego helped out on GTA5, the incar views, the non-loading maps and other stuff
Gonna download this to watch a little later, so far looks great :D
Daniel Ibbertson DL why?
MidNight Club is still cancelled soz.

Midnight Club 2 is still one of the best racing games ever made.
I’m watching this whole video while playing midnight club LA right now. Great video man!!
We doin the same thing😂 I personally inducted myself into the midnight club after beating Midnight club 2 and Dub Edition Remix.
This was an amazing video about one of my favorite series of all time. The amount of work and dedication it must have taken to put this video together is awesome and I thank you for making it. I got such a nostalgia high listening to all the music from my childhood. Again, Thank you for making this.
you just make me cry , very awesome video , congratulations , hello from argentina, again congratulations for all of us
Midnight Club 3 Dub Edition Remix was so much better
Customization and variety compared to LA? Yes, Story and racing in MCLA? The best *in my opinion*
Midnight club 2 is the best for me second is the mc3
@@ΣιμοσΤσανκουριδης agreed bro 100%

I was part and help run the fastest crew in MC2 and MC3, the Import Knightz. We're still friends today.
I legit need a Midnight club 2 remastered on the switch :'(
33:08 bro just made the hardest transition
That introduction of MC3 genuinely brought tears to my eyes. The memories are heavy, I loved that game, I really wish it was ported to PC so it could get a new life online.
1:03:38 sidenote, this guy is voiced by the same voice actor as Woozie from San Andreas
This guy doesn't have enough subs for his talent
Truly amazing video, I got goosebumps because of the nostalgia. You earned my sub
What an interesting documentary! While I still remember Midnight Club II as the first Midnight Club game that I've ever played, I will still remember the good ol times I had with this series.
You deserve a sub. ;)
That midnight club dub edition intro 🤗😙😫
Midnight Club 3 has the greatest replayability of any game, ever, imo. It was one of the first games I ever played as a kid and I still play it all the time. There's just so much to do and it's so much fun that I could be (and have been) playing it forever.
I've been waiting for this for a long time and I was excited to see this video on my feed, good job on this video.
You said the opponents would constantly taunt you but the first example was a guy saying
"I'll always finish first. Ask my girlfriend, she'll tell you"
Dude was dissin himself lol
I’ve seen this vid like 10 times to relax. Stop my anxiety. Thank you for the making this
You reviewed my childhood basically right here. I grew up on this series and I hate that another never came to happen (probably never will either). Thank you for this video it's the best thing I've watched on UA-cam or anywhere else for that matter.
