Frank is one of the greatest vocalist ever. If you want an easy list of songs I would suggest listening to “Sinatra at the Sands”! It really is him at his prime.
My favorites are “One for My Baby”, “The September of My Years”, “It Was a Very Good Year”, “New York, New York”, and “My Kind of Town”. There are SO many… and if you’re looking for great versions of Christmas songs, look no further than Frank! He has 2 albums of Christmas music and they are required listening every year for my family.

The song has so much impact because of who Frank Sinatra was. He was friends with Presidents and gangsters and moved between those two worlds effortlessly. His voice, his phrasing and his ability to deliver a lyric is unmatched. I was a bit shocked to hear that you had never even heard of him. Damn I must be getting old.

Sinatra turned 50 years old in 1965. He addressed this milestone with a theme album, "September of My Years." Every song is about aging. "It Was A Very Good Year" is sentimental and sweet, and probably my favorite song on the album. But a half-dozen are classics with awards and huge audiences. It's a good intro to Sinatra.
But there is much more. "Songs for Swingin' Lovers" and "In the Wee Small Hours" from the mid-1950s define the popular music of that era. Sinatra released five albums in 1961 and they are all awesome.
Sinatra was known as "The Voice." He was probably the world's most popular singer for 15 or 20 years. He had a good film career too. It is so nice to see someone of your generation able to recognize his genius and appreciate his singing.

Yes! Very confident! He was the chairman of the board. I didn't mention this before, but that was one of his nicknames that he was known by. I told you he was the king of that era pre rock n roll in the 40s and 50s, and a lot of those singers like Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Jr., as well as other celebrities would run around together in a group that's usually referred to as "The Rat Pack", and Frank Sinatra was always the boss. He was a tough guy that had a big ego, and you could even go as far as to say he was a bully. I don't know if it's true, but there were always stories that in his younger days he was connected with the Mafia, and he kind of acted like he was a mob boss. You can even say he was kind of a dick, but he got away with it because it wasn't unwarranted. He was beloved all the same, and really did earn his swagger. All the other crooners looked up to him, respected him, and probably kissed his ass, for a reason. He really was that big of a deal. In a room full of celebrities, he was the King that held court amongst his subjects. Frank, and the rest of the Rat Pack, also made movies, and all kinds of other stuff too. Very iconic to that time in America.
This is unrelated, but in the 80s, there was also "The Brat Pack". Which was a group of young actors that were popular. I don't think you've even done any John Hughes movies yet, which is a whole other thing in itself. He was a Director/Writer/Producer that was hugely popular in the 80s, that did, well some different stuff, but is mainly known for a lot of comedies about teenagers, that were sometimes infused with a little drama, and commentary on the culture of the time, and a lot of the Brat Pack came out of his movies. The legend goes, that he wrote so much, that the trunk/boot of his car would be full of scripts, and you could just grab any one at random, and just take it and make it into a movie, and it would be successful. Some he Directed himself, and some he'd produce for others to direct, and he's responsible for a lot of iconic films from that era. "The Breakfast Club" is one of my favorites from my childhood that I'd love to see you react too!

The original song from France is called, Comme d'habitude which means 'As Usual". David Bowie was hired to write English lyrics to the original tune, which he called "Even a Fool Learns to Love.", but then Paul Anka gave it a go and that is the song "My Way" that Frank ended up singing. The success of "My Way" instead of his song motivated Bowie to write "Life on Mars?" as a parody of Sinatra's recording.

Biss, In America, and perhaps much of the WORLD, the TWO greatest known and biggest, most famous, most reknowned singers have been FRANK SINATRA and ELVIS PRESLEY. Sinatra had a LONG career and sang since the 1930's. His voice when young was like frickin' BUTTER. He was a heart throb idol for girls for years and years. He also became a huge movie star. He also was a dancer. He is known as, " THE VOICE ". He sang songs that were classics and then the greatest songwriters of the times wrote songs just FOR HIM to sing. That is how huge and epic a talent and star he was in the world of music. I find it slmost impossible to believe you are not aware of who he was....but your age is why. That's the reason. He had about 50 albums and probably 100 more " compilation " and " Best of..." albums that were put together before and after his death. No one was a bigger name, a bigger star, a more known singer, than Frank Sinatra. Please go way way Waaaay back and listen, react to his oldest songs from the 1940's. Then react to his old movies on your movie channel. He never had a bad movie.
    I recommend them all.
Start with a few romantic ones and then do, " The Man With The Golden Arm " a very old movie about a drug addict sticking needles of heroin in his arm...and his battle against that addiction. Watch his musicals with dancing sections.
Watch "The Manchurian Candidate" a very serious and important political thriller. Watch Kelly's Heroes, a war movie.
Frank was called, " Old Blue Eyes ".
He was an Italian American born in Hoboken, New Jersey. His music, career, movies are a rabbit hole you should dive into with sheer joy.

Every man should feel the confidence to sing these lyrics, at their own final curtain. This is the road map for manhood.

Sinatra's 'New York' is the song that gets the most traffic. I would suggest listening to the studio version instead of live, to help get a sense of how our grandparents probably heard him for the first time, on the radio.

George Harrison (The Beatles) and Ronnie Wood (the Stones) were at this concert together in 1974, the next day they went into the studio and cut a song they wrote together for Harrison's and Wood's up coming albums - Far East Man. George references Frank Sinatra at the beginning of the song because his version is jazzy and soulful like Frank's music.

Not only Sinatra but Tony Bennett too. His major hit was I Left My Heart In San Francisco.

As I get older It Was A Very Good Year hits harder. And Frank makes that song his own.

Another Sinatra reaction that I recommend would be "A Very Good Year". A very emotional song about a man looking back on his life.

You should consider watching a Frank Sinatra movie on your other channel. Movies where he sings, On the Town (1949) or Guys and Dolls (1955) or movies where he doesn't sing, From Here to Eternity (1953) or The Manchurian Candidate (1962).

I love "Fly me to the moon" the most but you can go with "New York, New York" or any other song of him. He is just one of a kind. You won't regret any song you listened of him. Keep it up, Bliss

This song is realer than you might think. According to FBI tapes, the boss of the Chicago Mafia was about to put a hit out on Sinatra for standing up to him, but he decided at the last second not to because he liked his music so much. That was a decade or so before this performance. Frank was one storied MFer, and he absolutely did it his way.
