Frank's popularity is unmatched and there will never be another one like him
I'm for Frank Sinatra, but.....Tony Bennett, Elvis Presley, Michael Jackson, Bob Dylan...ahem.
@@giuliogrifi7739Beatles beat'em all... At least in terms of sold records.
@@manofconstantsorrow Ok, Beatles are n° 1 in popularity and sales.....that's well established, but I guess we were talking about single performers.
😂😅@@giuliogrifi7739
@manofconstantsorrow The Beatles are a group where as MJ, Frank and Elvis got to where they were as individual artists
They don't make them like they used to. Frank Sinatra was such a smooth crooner. This is before auto tuning. Artists had to be really able to sing. And the lyrics were clean, romantic & really meant something. He has a huge library of great songs. Some of my favorites are "Fly Me To The Moon", "New York, New York", "Strangers In The Night", "I've Got You Under My Skin", "That's Life", "My Kind Of Town", "Summer Wind" etc. And he did a duet with his daughter Nancy called "Something Stupid" in 1967.
Not a crooner,but a great singer!👌🎤
"To say the words he truly feels, and not the words of one who kneels". Great line.
This song is a TESTAMENT of LIFE.
I'm 26, and Frank and Dean Martin are staples for my commute. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Sinatra's career spanned over six decades. Crooner, movie star, no one was more popular until Elvis. Listen to FLY ME TO THE MOON, THE BEST IS YET TO COME, LUCK BE A LADY, so many great songs. Sinatra's style, singing and phrasing like an instrument, changed the way people sang. He even had the first martial arts fight scene in western cinema, in THE MANCHURIAN CANDIDATE.
And he had a perfect english pronunciation, too.
Sinatra was the comeback kid, his life was not all smooth sailing. His career was on the skids in the late 1940s and early 1950s. Suicide attempts, vocal cord damage, and a tumultuous marriage all played out in the public eye. He had to beg for the role in the movie From Here to Eternity, which ended up winning him an academy award in 1953.
There is no other voice like his in the history of singing
In addition to his amazing voice, he also was a successful actor.
I don't care how old you are, you can't listen to that and not be moved by it. Great review
Oh Yes!!! Chairman of the Board! Frank is top shelf! I will never get tired of listening to his jazz singing. His enunciation was unparalleled. His feel for the rhythm and beat, as he moved around it, was genius. Dean Martin and Bobby Darrin could approach the technique, but Frank brought in a different level of drama and emotion. That's why Frank was the best. Young At Heart has always been my lifetime mantra from Frank.
Sam. He has a Christmas album! (Actually, more than one) Next Christmas you can swoon to Frank's versions of classics 😊
"My Way" is a song popularized in 1969 by Frank Sinatra set to the music of the French song "Comme d'habitude" composed by Jacques Revaux with lyrics by Gilles Thibaut and Claude François and first performed in 1967 by Claude François.
The English lyrics of the song were written by Paul Anka and are unrelated to the original French song.
This was my song back in the 70's when I was in High School!
Frank didn’t have a lot of unnecessary noise in his music like we have today.
The two most exciting words in entertainment "Frank Sinatra".
I was lucky enough to see him twice in NYC in the eighties. Please for Frank..
Early Sinatra is so damn good, back with the big band era, Take a look at "I won't dance" fabulous
Love your videos! Sinatra sang My Way in one take. Just a true professional. Another great song is Summer Wind!
The voice. Chairman of the board. He really did it his way.
Speaking of a life lived Frank had to have one of the most unique.
When i was able to walk (w/o a walker), I used to go on several miles walks around the Metroparks Valley in Cleveland several times a week, and I always walked to Sinatra. Even though my era is more Classic Rock, there's something peaceful I found walking in nature to the dulcet tones of The Chairman of the Board.
There doesn't have to be a hard or heavy beat (for me) to keep time. It was more the state of mind and enjoying my time alone and enjoying the beautiful scenery.
I love this song. He’s the GOAT. My favorite song ever is Fly Me to the Moon.
The Man, the Voice, the Legend
Sinatra, "New York New York" really builds the power of his vocals.
I grew up listening to Frank Sinatra. He was one of my mom's favorite singers. He has a huge catalog of songs. Some of my favorites are "That's Life", "Strangers in the Night", "It Was a Very Good Year", "Summer Wind", "New York, New York", and "My Kind of Town (Chicago Is). You should also check out two more members of the Rat Pack - Dean Martin and Sammy Davis, Jr. Songs for Dean Martin are "That's Amore", "Volare", "Sway", "Everybody Loves Somebody", and "Baby, It's Cold Outside". Songs for Sammy Davis Jr. are "I Gotta Be Me", "What Kind of Fool Am I", "Mr Bojangles", and "The Candy Man".
Lucky enough to see ‘ol blue eyes in concert 3 times. A legend!
Frank's music with Love by young and old even today
I can't think of any recording artist who had as long a career as Francis had: 5 decades of everything from big ballads to drinking songs to jazz/swing to the blues to grand pop statements such as "My Way". I recommend my favorite FS songs for future consideration: "Luck Be A Lady" (1963) and, if you are interested in Frank's romantic side, "Just The Way You Look Tonight" (1964) and "Witchcraft" (1957) A+
Incredible song. Love Frank! It Was a Very Good Year is another amazing hit by him, but so many to choose from.
I love that song!!! It's probably my favorite of his.
FRANK SINATRA HA ORIGINI ITALIANA GENITORI SICILIANI !!!!!!!!!
Absolutely one of the best ever, Frank was an inspiration even to me at a young age and I will never turn down a song sung by Frank. While there are some songs that are certainly better than others which are equally as good, the album that this video has in the background is a good enough start in itself, just pick one of any of them they are all too good and I truly could not choose just one.
If you get a chance please check out Frank Sinatra “It was a very good year”! The live performance was actually the studio version being filmed in front of a hand full of people and was absolutely incredible! Cheers, God Bless you guys!
And remember, they didn't have fold back in that era, so he is having to do it using pure talent.
There are a million great Sinatra songs, but one of my favorites is From This Moment On.
Frank GOAT you hear every lyric clearly no mumbling
Fly me To The Moon. He was a heart throb in my mom’s era way before my time
It's a classic Sinatra song. Wikipedia says he recorded it in one take. I'd also recommend the song New York, New York, which became closely associated with Sinatra, although he wasn't the first to sing it.
One Take Frank. Even in his movies, he usually did his scene in one take. Always got it the way he wanted it the first time.
I ran across some footage of Frank in the studio. What confidence and almost nonchalant.
It was not a ¨one take¨ recording. You can hear a bridge so short impossible
to breath.
Si wikipédia l'a dit !!
@@SadSad-de2cy Its a lie
Frank called Paul Anka and asked him to write a signature song for him. A lot of pressure according to Paul to come up with a song worthy of Frank S.
Great review and reaction. You need to check out the Dean Martin Roast's===Frank was the Man of the Hour and it was amazing to see celeb's taking shots at Frank. Very funny and a great watch! Cheers!
Sinatra was thinking of retiring and asked Paul Anka (an accomplished performer/writer/composer even at the age of 26) to write him a retirement song in 1967. Anka had heard this song in France and bought the rights to it. At Sinatra's request he wrote My Way to the melody in one night, called Sinatra and played the song on the phone. One week later Sinatra recorded the gold standard version of this song in one take, and the rest, as they say, is history. Suggested for you to react to What are you doing the rest of your life, Summer Wind, That's Life, How do you keep the music playing, It had to be you.
Ya guys that is THE song most associated with Sinatra. New York, New York might be next. The Summer Wind is my fav. Great reaction!
I was lucky enough to see him live at Ibrox in the late 80s. Amazing performer, and what a voice.
Frank was a tough street macho guy. He was the leader of the Rat-Pack and was known as the Chairman of the board! He also was a teen idol when he began for Americas greatest generation!
If you like Crooners try Andy Williams "Moon River" from the film "Breakfast at Tiffany's or Nat King Cole "Unforgettable" or Smile released in 1950s originally written by two men with Charlie Chaplin for a silent film a favorite. Thanks. and Merry Christmas
American Pop Standards are great music and there are many gifted musicians that make this smooth sound.
Paul Anka wrote this, earned him a boatload of money. Great song proformed by the best male singer ever
No he didn´t - Paul Anka just translated the lyrics from french to english !!!
Paul Anka rewrote the French lyrics but kept the original melodic structure
The song was actually written by Paul Anka
Paul Anka just wrote English lyrics too a French song called Comme d’habitude
No this recording was out in 1967.
The most masculine song ever written. "........the record shows, I took the blows, and..........". Great song.
some songs and some singers are just genius and will live forever...
Franks a bad ass!
Mr. Sinatra's voice will never be matched. So smooth and clear. Mr. Sinatra was also a good actor. He was a very special and if you really need to relax and enjoy, Mr. Sinatra would be one to put on. It would be nice to see what some of the really young feel about him.
And by the way, In BonJovis song, "Its My Life" he quotes Frank with the lyric " As Frankis says,I did it my way". He and Richie Sambora, Johns partner guitarist, fought him over quoting it, saying,
" No one will get it" ,but John said, it stays in. So when you get to covering my favorite Bonjovi song, you will be in " the know".
Im not trying to come off as rude, but I couldn't help chuckling when you said, "I wasn't expecting Frank to say 'ate it up and spit it out'"... This dude was hard. It reminds me a little of seeing people talk all gently and carefully to an old war veteran. Like, this guy was a badass, that badass is still in there. Great reaction to a life anthem. Hits different already and I'm only 47. Sure it's gonna hit even harder when I "face the final curtain".
We saw Frank in the early eighties with the Buddy Rich Orchestra. Way past his prime there were sections of the concert he was fabulous.
This song was one of them. Iconic.
The original song was French, "Comme D'Habitude". Paul Anka wrote the English lyrics for Frank.
Nothing like him before or after, it should remain this way. He is a unique among so many a like. A true master of his craft.
Legend
I believe there were four giants of 20th century music: Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra, Elvis, and the Beatles.
IDK about the Beatles, think they were more a product of the media then talent. They were not even the most talented during the 60s. Imagine the number Elvis would have done if he had the push that the Beatles did. Did not Elvis sell the most albums of all time and that was with the negative narrative the media pushed in the 50s, he was draft, signed a contract for movies when he got back and died in the 70s
The degradation of our current society seems to have a direct link to the 60s. Which the media has been a huge contributing factor to and the Beatles was at the front.
I played this song to my father not minutes before he passed away, he really loved it and I feel like every single person on this earth can hear this song and interpret it in a way that resonates with them
Finally the chairman of the board is here
This is also a cover of the original. Yes Elvis covered it. Sinatra stated after hearing Elvis's cover that the song was tailor made for Elvis's voice
You should react to the original version, "Comme d'habitude" from French male singer Claude François. Sinatra's song is an outcome song, but François' song is a break-up song. You can find it in his official channel with English subtitles.
Thanks for reacting to Mr Sinatra. He’s the best ever.
Also, song was written by Paul Anka (A Canadian) who was also a teen idol and magnificent song writer, check him out.
The man's voice is timeless. 👍🏽
Frank and the orchestra would drop the needle on a lacquer disk and cut a whole side of an album in one flawless take.
Sinatra is one of the few pop culture figures that appeals to any generation. Our grandparents loved his music, our parents loved his music, and current generations love it too. We can all relate to the lyrics as they will never be dated. That’s what a true entertainment legend is!
Frank Sinatra was a great crooner
Great, life affirming song. I recommend "Summer Wind" and "The Way You Look Tonight."
My father LOVED Sinatra. He was Silent Gen and I'm Gen X. I picked it up and kept it going. This is a song about living life on your terms. Following your own path and dealing with the consequences of those choices. This one hits me so hard because it makes me feel closer to my dad but also proud of myself for doing my own thing. If you like this, check out Luck be A Lady, I've Got You Under My Skin and The Summer Wind.
Frank was always known as connected , A made guy, if you know what I mean. Definitely try Summer Wind as the next song.
Greatest ever.
This song was written by Paul Anka for Frank ...chairman of the board. His songs are always full instrumental, it's called the big band Era
❤
Actually, the song was written (title FOR ME - early 1967) by french singer-songwriter Jaques Revaux. Then, Claude Francois a french-italian singer-songwriter, modified a little the original music and, with new lyrics composed by french lyricist Gilles Thibaut, released and led to success the song (title COMME D'HABITUDE - late 1967). Then Paul Anka and Frank Sinatra came in with MY WAY (early 1969).....and made history !
It was the Big Orchestra era.
Check out " Summer Wind " by Frank...You both will love it....Its my all time favorite song by Frank.
The song My Way became Frank Sinatra’s biggest hit ever and that made him the super Megastar of that time.
It's one thing to hear this song when you're a teenager but entirely another when you're already in the twilight of your life like me.
Nuthin but class !.. Hey, Merry Christmas you two!
My parents were lucky to see him live when he came to Argentina in 1982 and he made a show in a hotel and in a theater, my father is a big fan of his.
Check out “That’s Life”, “It Was a Very Good Year”, “Fly Me to the Moon “, “I’ve Got You Under My Skin “
“One for my Baby “ is a must and a ton of others. He made over 2,000 recordings so you have some catching up to do. Live performances are tremendous. The Rat Pack stuff is gold!
Thanks for sharing your reaction to this entertainment legend.
Salute Mr Sinatra 🥃🥲
Pure Style 👏👏👏👏
Paul Anka wrote this song and was going to record it himself, but Frank wanted it and Paul said you don't refuse Frank. History!
Don't know if anyone mentioned it but in the Bon JOVI song, Its My Life, there is a line that says: like Frankie said, I did it my way. This song is where that came from
My absolute favorite song of Sinatra's..I grew up listening to the rat pack. My Dad had a voice very similar to Sinatra. The favorite part of this song for me is "to think, I did all that"......because I think of my life and if I thought of the things I have done in my life, I'm amazed...thanks for the reaction!
I believe he always sang with an orchestra behind him.
THE VOICE!!!! 🎶🌟✌️
My dad still blasts this on the car ride home to this day after he finishes tax season. Such a great song!
The vast majority of Frank's songs were orchestrated by Nelson Riddle.
very deep rabbit hole with Frank Sinatra (RIP). Many consider to be the best male singer of all time. His smooth delivery, good range, tone/breath/voice control (clear even in louder volumes), are unparalleled. Super showman. So very many great songs, difficult to list them all so you need to do some research into this music icon and true legend. This song is arguably considered his best. Commonly also known as "Chairman of The Board" and "ole Blue Eyes". Some other notable suggested songs: New York New York, Cycles, When I was 17, Fly me to the moon, That's Life, Strangers in the Night, and a duet he sang with his daughter (Nancy) in 1967- "Say something stupid", Luck be a Lady and so many, many, many more. Also a pretty good actor with many movie appearances. And he was known, among inner circles, of having a very big and kind heart. Helped many struggling actors/singers find their way, but he never talked about it - extremely humble.
I also love watching his movies! ❤❤
Ol’ Blue Eyes…he was a pretty man in his day ❤
Pleased for MY WAY written by Paul Anka and having written it he knew it had to be Frank's song. My argument in favor of Sinatra being the greatest singer (non-opera) is IT WAS A VERY GOOD YEAR. The way he enunciates, he performs the song. He was a great actor and that provided him the ability to perform lyrics and convey the mood. Interesting as an actor and a singer he felt fresh only with one or two takes. Show up, do the job - acting or singing - and leave.
My favorite Sinatra song. o
This song was written specifically for Frank by Paul Anka who had a huge career of his known...check him out
Frank, quite possibly, never missed a note in any performance. You might check out his duets with Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong. They are so fun. My favorite Frank song is My Kind Of Town (Chicago Is)
This one and That’s Life are 2 of my Frank favorites, I grew up listening to my dad playing his records.
You should check out the studio performance by Frank, of “When I was Seventeen”…..it’s AMAZING!!
'It Was a Very Good Year'. "When I was 17" is the first line of the song.
@@huchlvr : I stand corrected.
OMG - his eyes on that album cover could MELT ANYONE!!! He was SO handsome!! ...and, THAT VOICE: OMG!!! Love me some FRANK SINATRA!!! ❤❤❤❤❤
The orchestra is amazing. My favorite is the bass trombone on the last note.
He is known as "The Chairman of the Board" for a reason.
Nice reaction, this melody is made by Paul Anka.. 👍
