This is one the best videos I've seen on sewing variations with this foot! You are an excellent teacher! Hope you get a chance to do more videos to share your talent! Thank you! I've subscribed!
Oh my gosh, I wish I could give this video more than a like. I had no idea that you could do so much with a rolled hem foot. Your instructions are so clear and easy to understand. Thank you for sharing.
wow so clearly and simply shown + good advice about fabric choices! thank you so much! I have no serger/overlocker and am just beginning with a vintage treadle and struggling with seam finishes~ Now I want to practice some flat felled seams! how much seam allowance should I cut (for children's pants) using this rolled hem-foot flat felled seam finish?
Hello! I’m so glad you found this video helpful. The flat-felled seam using this attachment is very narrow. It’s something like 1/8 inch to 3/16 inch wide. To achieve this felled seam, the bottom piece of fabric would need to have a 1/4 inch seam allowance, and the top piece would need to have 1/16 inch seam allowance. I’m not sure how well these small allowances would hold up over time in something as roughly used as children’s pants. However, it is two lines of stitching at each seam, so it would be interesting to find out!
Hey Sarah, do you do any adjustments to your tension or anything? I gave up getting a nice looking rolled hem until I saw your video. You do beautiful work! You are an inspiration. I’m going to try again!
I did not need to make any adjustments to my thread tension, as it was already giving me a balanced stitch for the cotton material I was using. I don’t remember if I made any adjustments to the stitch length or not. You may want to experiment with stitch length to get the look that appeals to you. I don’t think that stitch length is all that essential to the operation of the foot, but I have not tried it with a very large stitch as that is not my preference. Thank you for your kind comments, and good luck! I hope you’re able to get better results this time around. ❤️
there are many online outlets that sell them, search your model of the sewing machine and "tension disk replacement" and hopefully some sites will come up.
You have done the best demonstration of how to use the foot for the felled seem. The results are fantastic.

So cool, it never occurred to me that a hemmer foot can be used for felled seams. Very well explained, thanks!
Good grief - you deserve many, many for views and likes just for how beautifully you show how to do that felled seam. Lovely.
I agree 100% I would certainly enjoy more such videos as the others I have viewed bordered on painful and without these lovely results.
I have read the comments and I have to agree... you are a brilliant teacher! I'm going to take a peak at your other videos and subscribe. Well done
