    Absolutely fantastic. Thank you for the demo! I just picked up a Singer 15-125 --- literally 'picked up'-- someone had it in front of their house with a sign "Free!". It is basically the 15-91 re-released in the 1950's... it is mint green! It sews and is in good condition and came with a box of these attachments. I will give them all a go. Very useful.

    It is nice to see the presser feet in action, compared to reading how to use them in the Singer instruction manual. I have a 1948 Model 66-16 and was quite confused by it all. You made it possible for me to now use these specialized tools. Thank you.

      I've just got the same model, pristine condition! I'm just about to have my first go at the bobbins after watching another video, then saw this and thought oh, that's what they are then lol. Bit daunted but these videos demystify the whole thing. Wish me luck!

    The two post in front of the binding foot are to feed the tape at the proper angle and tension.

    • @24Washington
      @24Washington  Рік тому +1

      Absolutely! Thank you for pointing this out.
      I have found that sometimes, the posts don't do the job all of the way. Some materials like to curl, or maybe were not cut 100% in the bias, so tend to pull one way or the other.
      While it can get more involved using your fingers as guide and tensioner, you can feel and respond as needed.
      Thanks again!

    Thank you so much. My mum left us a whole collection of fine attachments that we have no idea how to they are used. We are amazed at the intricacy of the parts. Salute to the designers and their creative imagination inventing these attachments. We do wonder whether they came with an original manual. Do they?

    • @24Washington
      @24Washington  2 роки тому

      They really are amazing things, aren't they??
      The sewing machine manuals contained instructions for using the attachments supplied, but there was also a general manual provided by Singer in the early 1900s which covered some extras too.
      I recently published another video on attachments which goes into more detail than this one.
      It might be of more use to you :)

      Your model is 15K (like mine). It was one of 225000 machines that were issued on June 11 1937 out of the Kilbowie, Scotland factory.
      Here is a scan of my own manual that I made available a couple of years ago.

    thank you, I loved seeing how you worked these attachments to make masks, and even more loved that you are doing this on a machine with no reverse, I have a early 99k with no reverse and sometimes I wonder if I 'should' replace it with a newer model, but like yours it sews so nicely, smoothy and really there are very easy work arounds to lock the stitches which you showed -- so thanks

      What a lovely comment! Thank you so much!
      I hope to prepare a more in-depth explanation of all standard attachments included with vintage machines, so stay tuned to see those.
      The lack of reverse has never troubled me.
      The only thing I ever miss is the knee-lift on my "Tailor's" model 31-15 when I switch back to my domestic 15 ... It's so convenient to lift the presser foot with a push of the knee.

      I apologize for not noticing the hand placement at the time. The video was recorded as an afterthought to the actual mask-making operation.
      Here is the description I gave to another viewer in the hope that it explains the process better:
      I used a pointed tool to force the end of the fabric strip through the outer portion of the attachment, as it is impossible to move it through entirely by hand.
      Once the fabric emerges at the end, the attachment takes care of the entire process. There's no folding or maneuvering .... All you have to do is to sew!

      @24Washington  3 роки тому +1

      Hello Alyssa. These three are very common to find in group lots of attachments on eBay, but you can search individual part numbers, too.
      I have seen sets at estate and garage sales too.
      They will work on your 12, as it is also a "low shank" machine.
      The older sets of attachments did have some variations as changes to sewing styles meant that certain things were in more/less demand.
      A comparison demo is yet another video that I'd like to present ... but alas ... the time... !
      Please let me know if you have any further questions and I'll do my best to guide.

    Does your hemmer also do different width hems--it looks as if there is at least one more "ledge: to make a wider hem.

    • @24Washington
      @24Washington  3 роки тому

      The hemmer is adjustable. Does anything from a 3/16" to 15/16" hem in its normal configuration, but you can swing it fully open to do hems larger than 15/16"

      You are correct that my hand does obscure the initial loading of the attachment. I apologize for not noticing this at the time.
