I always love seeing you pull out different machines and educating us on the differences. Im at an age where these are what was in showrooms when I was a kid. I've never seen an 86-87 200x in person. Just saved an 85 200x and 83 250r and am doing a slight resto to have nice riders. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and collection with us.
Thanks for doing this awesome video! I love the 200x’s. My dad had an 84’ and an 86’. Both brand new when I was a kid and they bring back so many memories! I’m looking to find one of each in good shape. Love your collection and your videos!!
I had a 1985 200x brand new in junior high and ended up always mule kicking it too. Tore a number of shoes and boots from that darn kickstarter. Plus they were cold starters and also took time to start if it was hot. Loved that machine so much! Took me all over the area and was so much fun.
@@ThisOldTrike Had so much fun on that machine. My cousin bought a new TRX125 back then. It's like a toy compared to the Arctic Cat wheelers we run today. I have a 700 TRV two up and it's 4ftx8ft.
I have a first gen 200x . When they first came out they were my dream machine, loved the white tank. So glad I have one today. Great video, thanks ! 👍😎
You are a wealth of knowledge and your collection is amazing! I'm looking for a mid-life crisis toy and this video, along with your 250sx video, have been a huge help in narrowing down exactly what I want to buy. Subscribed!
I was going to buy an old 1985 200x like I had back in 85 but ended up recently buying a dirt bike for my midlife crisis machine. Never owned a bike before and love it! I also have an Arctic Cat 700 TRV, picked up about 5 years back, for when a bigger machine is needed, but love that bike too.
I really love your collection Sir. I was a member of the Honda Hoarders group when I was on FB but I have since quit FB. I have a modest collection and want to add just one more Honda ATC, an '86 200X. Love the story about how you got yours. I live in CNY. Not sure where you live but it would be cool to see you collection sometime.
a trick i use to free up clutch plates is to start the machine and let it run with the clutch lever engaged for 20-30 min. usually frees them up once that everything is up to temp.
As a teen I had a brand new 1984, added the headlight and front master cylinder guards just as seen on yours. Fun times, 2 other of my buddies also had the same trike.
I just found your channel and subscribed on the spot, I am a huge fan of three wheelers and I was the proud owner of a 86 350x. You have a great collection of three wheelers, and thanks for a fantastic channel
Great Video, Something unique to the 83 was a flatter type of kickstarter, ( the area where your heel contacts the kicker ). I don't know if all 83's had them but mine does and I have seen others in pictures. Some of my best memories was Riding the 200X engine screaming, on muddy trails and coming home all soaked my self. Then drinking Beer , washing the Bike and myself, I still have that Bike and ride it wont ever sell it. Ride Red Amigos!
I'm going to have to check that out!! I haven't noticed the kicker being different, but it may just be something I missed! Love the story too!! Amen! Ride Red!
@@ThisOldTrike check this video on youtube ( 1983 Honda ATC200X BRESSLER SPECIAL ) by Kaplan America at 3:55 you will see the kicker I am referring to... I noticed the one on my bike when I was working on it and I was wondering if the one I had was off a different bike..I am almost sure that it is 1983 specific..... ( believe it or not ) it also has KICKSTARTER in raised lettering . Cheers !
New subscriber here Preston really been enjoying binge watching your great videos! Thanks for your wholehearted effort to keep the amazing Honda ATC alive & all the handy info you're passing on too! I started out in '84 on a brand new 125M at about 15 (same as my brother in fact still have his), then quickly progressed to the one & only '85 200X - bought brand new in the box & watched them put it together! I was just 16, & still have it to this day! Just $1748 - those were the days! 🤣 I could ask 100 questions & talk about a zillion things ATC related(can't we all?!), but for now will only throw one at you while I work to get it back trail ready. Believe it or not after not firing it in a decade at least(I know shoot me but granted I was careful to drain the carb to store it), I sh*t you not it fired THE SECOND KICK!!! Proof Honda's are built to RUN! Now to the problem. Though it sounded happy to come back to life, right away I noticed it refusing to idle. AT ALL. Like anything below 3000 it was spitting & trying to die. After a couple minutes I found pressing the carb air box snorkel towards the motor it happily idled smooth as always. That dang composite intake manifold has finally bitten the bullet! My question is who have you found to be the best source for proper replacements? I read sure enough the 200X version has a different slant to miss the frame tube, plus obviously want the 24mm dia intact(supposedly, I've not pulled the original yet to confirm it same as carb throat). These are clearly all over EBay, but most sellers claim one size fits all which clearly can't be true & < than 24mm dia. so who to trust quality & fit wise? Obviously also wise to replace the O-ring & gasket on motor side? That's all for now, thanks again for all the great videos & any pointers from you & the great community here!
Hey man, thank you for watching my videos! I really appreciate that. I love that you still have your 85 200X!! That is awesome! So you need the boot from the airbox to the carb, or the carb to the engine? I think you're talking about the boot from carb to engine... I'm seeing a few on ebay. The part number is 16210-965-000 and I'm seeing a range of prices. Is that what you're looking for?
@@ThisOldTrike welcome Preston! Thanks for the quick reply. Yep intake manifold mounts to motor that's the one! So that's the correct part #? (imagine it's in my Honda service manual too). The issue is many sellers claim it fits all ATC200's which can't be possible? Plus ones give diameter seem to say less than correct 24mm - or is that diameter typically smaller than 24mm? Like I say haven't taken mine off yet to verify & figure you'd know? Yep my 200X is my baby since I was 16. I'm 54 now. Even at that age was fanatical on service had first oil change at just 6 hrs wrote it in manual! 🤣 Guesstimate is only about 300-350 hrs now. But man what great memories packed in there! Except for tiny spot on seam at tank thanks to a bastard mouse the seat is flawless. But it's stiffened over time worries me I've gathered mineral oil is best to soften? I'd have NEVER stopped riding had my brother & most our friends not "outgrown"(!?) it. One of my best friends since 8 yrs old jumped in the fray got a pristine used 86 125M(from what you've said wish I'd bought it when he had to sell out!). We had some great x's riding in fact he was only person I'd let ride mine. Then cancer struck never saw his 40th & died late '06. 😞 I think my motor is happy just needs that manifold! Brakes will need TLC the front master needs rebuilt lever moves free now. I removed entire rear brake system yrs ago it was dragging, & bought used spare off Ebay to swap parts but never happened. So I need to find best place for rebuild kits? I think only other thing to address to get her back on trail is swap out front shocks w/nice used 85's I got off EBay. The originals got about a 2 degree bend hitting a 400 lb yearling COW escaped into the road at dusk. 😲 YEP! It was just a test run, on the return leg after just doing a bunch of service to start riding again! Miraculously I'd just slowed from wide open to about 35 - 40, & only other damage to bike is cracked her pretty fender w/TEAM HONDA sticker up by triple clamp. Determined to get one of those welders & fix right after what you've said on OEM vs re-pops! Other miracle is didn't break a single bone, but I was beat up bad couldn't walk normal about 6 mths. So the even wilder part? I'm living proof that thanks to being on an ATC & NOT a 2 wheeler I wasn't REALLY broken up or worse stuck in a wheelchair for life! Because most every bike rider I talked to admitted the instinct would've been lay the bike down which would've thrown me straight into that cow at 40 mph so you can picture the rest! 🙏 So "3-wheelers are dangerous" my ass, still irks me to this day what they pulled off. Anyways, for now my goal is get her back rolling then deal w/the cosmetic corrosion issues down the way which is 💔. Thanks Florida humidity! Speaking of rolling still has the OEM tires! Front actually still holds air, but rears do not. Dry rot is appearing so I've got to figure out best option. It seems hard finding new ones that even remotely resemble OEM? Thought maybe just tube them, but sure enough you'll want to start playing rough & they may come apart! Anyways, super jealous your incredible collection that's a dream garage right there! Always liked the 250SX & 350X when they came out, in fact nearly traded for the 350 but in a way very glad I kept my agile 200X. Now I just wish I'd added the other 2 way back when now the crazy $$$ values & scarcity of truly clean ones! Hope you see this was worried you'd never see the first & I'd need to dig for another way to reach you. Thanks huge for any pointers & you know I'll be back for more ATC! 😂 PS You have any of the magazines I still have DOZENS like 3 yrs of Dirt Wheels & others thrown in from 84 - 87!
Yes, that is the correct part number. Go check out my video on where to find parts (250R on a frozen lake is the thumbnail). I show you how to search the schematics for the machines to figure out the part numbers and see what's still available. Even if it's not available, you can use the part number to search ebay. That should help you out a lot. And that cow!! JEEZ! I'm glad you didn't get banged up worse! Let me know if you have any other questions. Keep commenting too! And subscribe!
@@ThisOldTrike hey Preston! Sorry delay replying been sporadic here I got buried working Daytona for Speedweeks & now Bikeweek but actually got a brief break! Yep I'm already sub'd & actually did watch the hunting parts video before to prepare. Maybe I'll watch it again Just thought you might've had to get that intake & brake kits for your 200X's & knew the better sources? So much Chinese crap out there! I'll also need to replace front wheel bearings too, & there must be a dozen brands! I noticed that right before I did that test run into the COW back in 1492. Thankfully for now all the other bearings seem tight. I read somewhere there's definitely a preferred brand on brake rebuild kits. And obviously it'd be smart to do new gaskets on the intake too. Any specific vendors you generally do better for Honda gaskets? I'll take a look at those sites you mention, so far wasn't impressed w/Rocky Mtn for 200X parts - only had like 3? Maybe I used the menu wrong. Like I said want to get her back riding first, but powder coating the frame/swingarm will be somewhere in future. How expensive is that roughly? I mean is a frame $300 or $1200? And congrats on the courage to tear that 250R motor apart! Braver than me am surprised you didn't have a service manual handy! Time to play catch up on the videos think that was last I saw! 😳 Thanks for any more pointers & hope you've been able to play in the snow w/one of your ATCs! So much for cooler weather here - today been running the A/C! Crazy!
I learned on a 1983 Honda 110 at 7 years old I loved that thin. Dude remember quad zilla that thing was a 500 cc if I’m not mistaken. My buddy had the 70cc . The Kawasaki 160 was great . The 125 had the front brakes so you could dig in . I loved riding those in the snow attaching the sleds to the back. The good ole days. Nice collection by the way you must be rich . How did you get so many in such good shape. Me and my brother and sisters pretty much destroyed that 110 . I had it opened up with my friend nick on the back in the field and one back tire hit a BMX jump and we got thrown . I remember looking up viser smashed down and watching it do it’s last few tumbles . Wheelie bar that’s what we called them anyway on Long Island that was bent into the seat the bars were bent down. We called those the waffle tires the 83 Honda tires yea in 85 they changed the tread pattern. Oh the grab bar I actually never knew it was called that. The 85 also on the 110,s and 125,s changed up shift also hated that. Forward gears I’m talking like first to second you would put your toe under the shifter and lift up. Instead of pushing down. Stupid idea because it wasn’t smooth like a motor cycle shift there was no clutch. Anyway cool channel brings back memories great memories.
WD 40 brings life back to the fenders. Plastic is a petroleum product and lots of the fenders are just dried out. I might do some buffing to mine but WD 40 really helps
I’m restoring the 83 my neighbor purchased new. I’ve been trying to buy it for 30 years. He finally sold it to me 6 months ago. I rode it thousands of miles when I was a kid.
Love the video very much! And man that 87 tank is too cool, also I get what you mean with the seat having no text but I believe that was done since the tank says Honda 200X and the fenders says ATC and so they didn't want to clutter the machine with text. But it would be awesome to see how that looks with the ATC or 200X seat!
Id say you pretty much nailed it my friend i was 16 yrs old when i had my first 85 200x road it into the ground they were bulletproof light nimble machines alot of fun to ride great video Preston keepem coming i always enjoy..
I'll take the bait 😎 The 87s red swinger sets it apart as a unicorn and looks rad! They should have put Pro Link on it however. The seat however, we agree on. Its "bland" at best. We changed ours to Hi Flight +1 inch foam and seat cover that has ATC on the side 86' style font and it really sets the trike off and looks like it should have
The swing arm on the 83 is different i thknk the 83 had les travel in the rear then it changed in 84 i use to gave an 84 with a blue sear cover so it kinda looked like an 85 i aldo got the red white and blue gastank decals had a great time growing up ridding with 2 of my other buddies wich also had 200xs in the summertime when there was no school we would be out all night ridding as far as 30 40 miles away from our homes at 12 13 years old at night thru the middle of the desert there was a kinda scary feeling but being with your buddies late at night out in the middle of nowhere in the socal desert was a blast i still live in the same spot even at school it was just talking about three wheelers unfortunate my best friend got killed in 2001 right after we had graduated from high school and my other buddy moved to tbe east coast i still very active in the off roading scene out in the desert and in baja but know its in a ford truck wit big hp and lots of wheel travel abd mist UK important a rollcage around me they sah with age comes a cage i miss my best friend so much he missed out in so much he would have also into desert prerunners and ford trucks we hadnt been driving legally that long before he got killed i went on to having all kinds of quads dirtbikes banshees 400exs 450rs baja bugs and rails but what started it all for me was the 200x that my father got me the day i got that 3 wheeler was the day i stoped ball sports and got into motorsports and just watching this made me remember my childhood in my 200x wich i went everywhere with it and it never left me stranded great machines tht will last for ever
Your channel made me go Grab my 1st 3 wheeler for my hoard. It's 1985 200x original tires super mint. No dents in tank or faded or cracked plastics. It has a 200s engine but I got it for $300
Nice Video! I do not have a 200X. I have an 86 350X, and an 85 200SX. My lungs keep me from a 250R. I have asthma. Not super bad but my sleds let me know. Both ATC's' were rough when I bought them, but I budgeted the repair to try to keep their value a bit above what I've spent on them. I've been happy with the 250SX as its almost finished, and I've started on the 350x.
I like the 2 nd gen swing arm design. I have a 1st gen and the swing arm design is simple. Mine is 1985. An epic year like you said in the three wheeler rise to the market. Preston is proud of his 350x but the 200x defines the three wheeler era better than any other model
Ride the 200x with the stuck clutch around the yard a few rides with the clutch pulled in the whole time. That trick has always worked for me in the past
i have a couple 200x and several other machines i got addicted to 3 wheelers lol but 200x is my favorite currently building a 10 mil stroker flat track one
I love my 84 and my 86 is very very mice also. I agree the 87 seats look aftermarket. The blue is a little different then the 86 I believe. It's a bit blah. But the white tank shrouds are awesome, as well as the ATC on rear fenders.
Hi, I grew up on a 1985 185S. But the 200X was always my dream bike. I wanted to ask you if there are still parts available for the 200X? Like Bearing, seals, clutches, calipers, etc. I am obsessing about a few on Facebook marketplace, but, I don't want to jump in if I won't be able to restore it. I am a factory fan and avoid aftermarket stuff as much as possible. Thanks for any input you can give.
Howdy sir. So, the last year of the 185S was 1983... they switched to the 200S in 84 and ran through 86. You'll have to check out my video on those 2 models to remember which is was you had! Regarding parts availability on 200X's... yes and no. Bearings and seals, mostly. Clutches, I think so, if not OEM certainly aftermarket. Calipers, depends on the year, but there are some aftermarket options available... or used OEM. I have a couple videos also on how to search for what is still available through Honda for OEM parts.
My Brother just picked up an 85 (cdn) according to registration but the seat and fork boots are black. Should they be blue? Restoring it as close as possible to stock. Thanks
Awesome video, you never seize to amaze me on your wealth of knowledge. Good looking machines, quick question. If you took each one of your three wheelers for a 5 minute ride, how long would it take you to ride all of them? Lol just some food for thought!
Thank you so much man. The answer is 8 hours and 25 minutes... and thats just 5 minutes x 101.... not factoring in any start up time or getting 1 out, putting 1 away... pretty crazy!
On the 83, I noticed the 200x side stickers are slanted towards the front, and the 84 the numbers slant to the rear. Could the 83 stickers be swapped left for right? It looks like their axial placement needs adjusted, so they don’t appear original. Just a thought.
Confirmed kill: At 3:56 your brochure shot shows the decal numbers slanted to the front. Those stickers are reversed. So, now you can add it to your Restoration To Do list to correct! LOL! Your collection is amazing and I really enjoy learning about these machines watching your videos. One day I’ll find a 350X to call my own…..Keep posting, I’ll keep watching!
I have recently picked up another 1985 200x i believe it used to belong to a friend of ours as kids because i purchased it in same town and its the only one ive ever seen with a clear plastic see through tank. I cant find anything online with anyone else ever having a clear see through plastic tank on a 200x. How rare do you think the tank is? The family i believe who originally owned it were huge racers until his passing at age 16.
I didnt catch it in the video, but what year did Honda change the chain adjustment setup.? I noticed the 87 was newer style.. I never cared for the idea of adjusting the swingarm.. Lol.. Great info again... 👍👍👍 #makeatcsgreatagain
Also your '83, has a what appears to be a an atc200 top end, hopefully they were wise enough to steal the proper cam from its original motor. 200x seem to really really love to rev out.
That's a very open question. I buy these from craigslist... from marketplace... from word of mouth deals... all of the above... Just need to be watching and ready when they present themselves. Prices range wildly based on year/condition. 1st gens are cheaper typically than 2nd gens. I traded a snowmobile trailer for one of these... and I've paid $5500 for one of these... It all depends on condition/originality.
I had an ATC 200X as a kid and road the wheels off of it and wore all the paint off the tank. Loved it. I'm trying to find what the 200X retailed for in 85. Does anybody know?
Would you sell the dg pipe from your 83 when you get the oem finished? I just bought an auto x basket case. Because it's a auto x I really don't care about originality. Just wanted something to get it back on the trail again.
I just saw that 560 offroadin beat me to it. If you do want to sell it and he doesn't get it I'm still interested. No rush I'm still in the top end of the trike. I'll probably post on HH to see if anyone else has one.
Yes, once it's off the machine, I'd be happy to sell it. I'll keep you both in mind. I can't guarantee it will be any time soon unfortunately!! I'm super slow at projects!
I find 200x's to be great machines, yes they lack the power of the 350, but make up for it with their maneuverability and I think teens to grown man can enjoy 200x's and have alof of fun on them. I've been waiting for this video as I am a 200x fan. The motors are small but they sure do rev out way more than the 185/200 motor and you can tell they've been setup to wind out much higher than their origin motors. I'm 6'6 205 and have always had fun on 200x's! I wanna see the differences. Also is one of these the ones that became a gif of me air banging a 200x?
Im looking for a engine for my 85 Honda 200s... My original one is to far gone to rebuild. Can you give me some advice on looking for a good used engine? I just want to be able to ride a 3 wheeler at this point. I was looking at some Chinese knock off Honda motor that looked like it would fit for in between 100-300 bucks
What's up man. So, first question... is the whole engine shot, or is it just the top end that is too far gone? Sourcing a top end for that probably isn't going to be difficult. But finding an entirely different 200S motor probably isn't too hard either. 85 is the only model with upshift though. I know people put the 200S motor in the 1st gen 200X frame and make them "Auto X's". I also know the newer CRF230 motors fit in to the 200X frame and that is a possible swap... so it stands to reason that you could go the other way too and put a CRF230 motor in a 200S frame... but maybe not. That would probably be a lot of motor in a hard tail set up.
@@ThisOldTrike it sat for a long time without a spark plug and one of the round valve cover's. The crank has rust on it. I could only imagine what the inside of the transmission looks like, it only shifts into 3 forward gears, a bunch of the CDI system is gone. The crank rope is off of another brand of 3 wheeler, the cam gear only has 1 of the 2 bolts that hold the gear to the cam.... It's probably rebuildable if a guy wanted to. But I don't have much funds to tear the engine completely apart and rebuild it
Hey I know this is a long shot but are you still looking for a 1986 200x kick start if so I have a complete motor I'd sell also I have a 85 250r bottom end with new piston ect ..
@@ThisOldTrike when my buddy bought his first 87 I did think someone painted it...then I looked at the Honda literature and other 87s. I like that it's unique to that year, but I don't like the look of it.
You are very correct! I really need to make notes before I go into these... I normally re-watch what I recorded and go back and get extra things I missed after the fact.... but we had DOWN POURS that afternoon so the machines got put away and that was that. I should have pulled all the fenders too and really gotten down into things. Maybe that would be perfect for a follow up video.
They were all great machines an truly performance trikes for there day! Ur lucky to have some very nice ones indeed. I'm a Yamaha quad guy but have owned em all & love em all. Current machines: pristine '11 YFZ450X ( I bought new & stored 8yrs till this yr!) & a '21 Yamaha Raptor 700R-SE I picked up in June. The best selling big bore sport quad. Had grab one as Yamaha may not keep building (tho just a rumor as it sells very well for even its $11k price OTD). I would like to get a hold of a clean '87-88 350X for sure. Btw, I'm racin the local over 40 Vet class @local MX track here in NW Ohio w/my fully prepped '11 YFZ450! Only lowered machine via new tires. No other mods really. The modern EFI 450cc sport quads put dwn 40-44hp stock.
Awesome collection David!! Definitely something to be proud of! I wouldn't look too hard for an 87-88 350X though... they only made them in 85-86! They're still out there though!
Your 86 200x the rear wheels are oem correct for that machine as well as the black plastic backing on the rear taillight. I have one I'm second owner and identical wheels and black plastic. Also I found magazine photo advertisement showing 86 and has forged wheels and black plastic.
The 200x and 250sx rear tires were not the same... the sx had 301, I believe, and a divit in each knob on the sx,..... and 200x tires on the outer row of knobs they literally have an "X" on the face of the knob, also 250r had Dunlop tires from 81 thru 85.... the 83 84 tread was 200x pattern but not ohtsu they were dunlop...the handle bar caps and grab bar trick are sure winner wen negotiations are underway, now you have much nicer low hr stuff to reference then I have...... stuck clutch plates.... start it up in neutral let it warm up... push it down the driveway once it's rolling jump on tap shifter down to first.. if your rolling good it'll drop right in.... once in first gear... pull the clutch in, go half throttle and jab rapid fire on the rear brake hard quick stomping...... it WILL brake loose, might take 200 yards/ laps around the yard... but it works..... your story about sending pics to a seller and end up getting the machine because your a good steward of there prized possession it keeps the seller involved, they like saying, "my atc is now in a massive collection" I think my 86 taillight is black.... the only 86 200x with 86 350x wheels was in the brochure picture.. looks super cool I think, I recall an airbox decal, maybe 86 or 87 or both about a dry filter "do not oil" or something
So, if you check the associated part numbers for the rear tires on the first gen 200X and 250SX, there are 5 different part numbers listed for the 200X and 3 different numbers for the 250SX. All of the number for the 250SX are listed under the first gen 200X. From the description you gave of the 200X tire, it makes me wonder if you were describing the XA-801, the puncture resistant optional tire? Those were available on both the SX and 200X... and 200SX shared all the same tires as well (rears of course). And I think you're right on the 250R/Dunlop comment. I was only thinking in lines of tread pattern with that comment. I'm going to have to try that trick you described for the clutch plates! I've definitely ridden the machine and gotten it rolling the way you described... but I need to try your trick for sure!!
@@ThisOldTrike the clutch trick will work but it may take a few laps hahahah, all the more reason to ride and enjoy your trikes... I have some low hour tires on my 84 200x and I have what I believe are nos or close to it 250sx tires... ill look again... I could be wrong, knowledge is merely the memorization of facts, and sometimes my memory fails me.... I don't have any XA tires I wish I could find some n.o.s. for my display
@@ThisOldTrike hey by the way do a video of you breaking the clutch loose on that one, im a one man show and don't have a " camera kid," and most people don't exactly get what I'm explaining it will be nice to a video tutorial, thanks... LONG LIVE THE HONDA ATC
@@ThisOldTrike I just uploaded the tire video... with the old part numbers from the old book.... it even looks like all the solid knobs have an X on the face.. mine are worn and only side treads remain... and the SX tire has a divit in every knob. Hope this helps clear things up.....
Super Awesome collection!!! i'm building a '84 200 x right now and restoring it to mint condition. I had a '85 200x, Yamaha 200 and also a Tri-z 250 that i decided to sell when my son was 13 because it was tooooo fast. I regret it now! If you get a minute check out my scratch built Animated Batmobile i just finished building on my youtube channel i think you will like it. Both my best friends had 350x's when i had the 200x that really sucked, you were lucky!
Are you sure?? I'm trying to figure out how they would have done that. The 110 motor was a "lay down" or "horizontal" motor. The 200 motors were "upright" motors. I'm just confused how they would have stuffed that 200 motor from a tubular frame into a stamped steel frame.
@@ThisOldTrike Do them Honda 200 x usually have a front kick I literally have to take my seat off to kick get over it kicks backwards I seen on some videos they kick forwards let me no
If you’re looking to sell that dg system I’d be interested, I’m in need. Got ripped off buying a supertrapp for an x, turned out to be a universal supertrapp, and nothing fits.
Yes sir! Once it's off the machine, I'd be happy to sell it. I'll keep you in mind for sure. I can't guarantee it will be any time soon unfortunately!! I'm super slow at projects!
Sounds like you may have to expand your search area. Each one of these came out of the north east in the last few years. I know for a fact nice ones pop up for sale... just need to be patient and diligent.
I have a 87 trx 250x and the rims on the rear have the same lip as the 1987 200x not tryin to say it wrong or anything but u seid there wasn’t any other wheels that was the same
The TRX rims have a rolled lip, but it's a different rolled lip than the ATC's (for some reason). So, either your 87 250X has 87 200X rear wheels on it, or maybe it may not be clear in the video what I'm talking about. The TRX rims have a visibly fatter outer lip. They can easily be distinguished just by looking at them.
Indeed. I ride sport quads myself but love em all! Great hobby for anyone.
Thank you! I always appreciate your supportive comments!
Brings back so many memories seeing the 85 200x. That's what I grew up riding. We r actually the same age too. Keep up the awesome work
Thanks for doing this awesome video! I love the 200x’s. My dad had an 84’ and an 86’. Both brand new when I was a kid and they bring back so many memories! I’m looking to find one of each in good shape. Love your collection and your videos!!
Awesome man! Very glad you enjoyed it!! Good luck on your search!!
I had a 1985 200x brand new in junior high and ended up always mule kicking it too. Tore a number of shoes and boots from that darn kickstarter. Plus they were cold starters and also took time to start if it was hot. Loved that machine so much! Took me all over the area and was so much fun.
Love that man. Thank you for sharing that. Yeah, the way those 1st gen 200X's kick it's weird for me to kick from on the machine...
@@ThisOldTrike Had so much fun on that machine. My cousin bought a new TRX125 back then. It's like a toy compared to the Arctic Cat wheelers we run today. I have a 700 TRV two up and it's 4ftx8ft.
I watch your vids multiple times to catch things I missed before
I have a first gen 200x . When they first came out they were my dream machine, loved the white tank. So glad I have one today. Great video, thanks ! 👍😎
Thank you Andrew! I'm catching up on comment responses today and seeing your name a lot. Thank you for watching my videos man! What year is your 200X?
Thanks for finding me Alan! I'm glad you did! Enjoy!
Cheers !
My 83 has the flat kickstart too
My 83 has the flat style I believe they changed too the rebar style part way through the year
New subscriber here Preston really been enjoying binge watching your great videos!
I could ask 100 questions & talk about a zillion things ATC related(can't we all?!), but for now will only throw one at you while I work to get it back trail ready.
I think my motor is happy just needs that manifold!
PS You have any of the magazines I still have DOZENS like 3 yrs of Dirt Wheels & others thrown in from 84 - 87!
Thanks for any more pointers & hope you've been able to play in the snow w/one of your ATCs! So much for cooler weather here - today been running the A/C! Crazy!
I recently got my hands on a 87. I can't wait to get it finished. Needs very little love
Awesome! Sounds like you scored!
Always a great education watching This old Trike. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you sir! And thank you for watching!!
Love your collection!! Your a fountain of knowledge! Thank you
Thank you so much man! I've had a lot of fun putting these videos together over the past year. Looking forward to making more!
Thank you so much sir!!!
I'll take the bait 😎
The 87s red swinger sets it apart as a unicorn and looks rad!
It has a 200s engine but I got it for $300
The 20×11 rear tires particularly ITP h
Holeshot brand work very well on any sporty ATC or sport quad plus look cool I always thought.
Pretty cool. Brings back so much memories as a kid 😃
Really really nice machines for sure ! I need one !!!
Thank you! And yes you do!!
Ride the 200x with the stuck clutch around the yard a few rides with the clutch pulled in the whole time. That trick has always worked for me in the past
Yes, something I've needed to do for a while now... I'll get there! Stay tuned!
86 has always been my favorite.
i have a couple 200x and several other machines i got addicted to 3 wheelers lol but 200x is my favorite currently building a 10 mil stroker flat track one
Awesome! Good luck with your build man!!
On the 1986 model, on the rear plastic, the ATC200X decal by the grab bar, it appears to be off center, is it supposed to be that way?
Yes sir! The rear decals on many models is off center like that.
I love my 84 and my 86 is very very mice also. I agree the 87 seats look aftermarket. The blue is a little different then the 86 I believe. It's a bit blah. But the white tank shrouds are awesome, as well as the ATC on rear fenders.
Yeah, they definitely missed the mark on the seat, but the overall look is definitely sick!
Awesome collection 😍
Thank you!!
Yeah, it was an 83!
Thanks for the info!
Looking at one this weekend.
Is somewhere between $2500 and $3000 good for an 85 200x in decent condition?
@@ThisOldTrike that's awesome!
My 86 also has a black tail light..never noticed untill this vid
We're learning together!
On the 83, I noticed the 200x side stickers are slanted towards the front, and the 84 the numbers slant to the rear. Could the 83 stickers be swapped left for right? It looks like their axial placement needs adjusted, so they don’t appear original. Just a thought.
I'm pretty sure the decals on the 83 are reproduction and were put on by somebody who didn't know what they were doing...
I just got a 85 yesterday 22 years it sat in a barn
Awesome!!! Is she a cream puff or a turd ball?
You need another snowmobile trailer I’ll trade you lol damn that’s a good one I’ve been looking for a 200x to fix up
I didnt catch it in the video, but what year did Honda change the chain adjustment setup.? I noticed the 87 was newer style.. I never cared for the idea of adjusting the swingarm.. Lol.. Great info again... 👍👍👍
#makeatcsgreatagain
absolutely hate it on the 1st gen 200x had to make my own shock collar it’s a pain
They changed it in 86 so the adjustment is at the carrier.
Will the 83-85 200x seat pan fit the 86-87 ?
Also your '83, has a what appears to be a an atc200 top end, hopefully they were wise enough to steal the proper cam from its original motor. 200x seem to really really love to rev out.
Why do you think it appears that way sir??
How do you buy one? What are the prices where are u located?
That's a very open question. I buy these from craigslist... from marketplace... from word of mouth deals... all of the above... Just need to be watching and ready when they present themselves. Prices range wildly based on year/condition. 1st gens are cheaper typically than 2nd gens. I traded a snowmobile trailer for one of these... and I've paid $5500 for one of these... It all depends on condition/originality.
My 83 200x has a silver honda sticker on the tank and a blue seat. Does your 83 have an 84 seat and sticker
83 and 84 200X's have black seats. Neither came with silver stickers, unless you're talking about the dealership sticker?
Wow this blows my mind
Thanks brother!
What is the motor difference of the 200 and the 200x?
I can tell by that comment that you haven't watched the video yet... lol
"Spook the herd". Brilliant 👍🏻❤️👍🏻
Lol... sometimes I don't know what's about to come out of my mouth...
But I don't have much funds to tear the engine completely apart and rebuild it
Hey dumb question but can I put a 86 exhaust on my 85?
I'm 98% sure that's not going to work unfortunately
@@ThisOldTrike I figured but knew you would be the one to ask lol I am 15 and have 2 350x,s 3 200x,s a atc 70 and a 125m starting the collection lol
That's amazing man! Off to a killer start! At this rate you're going to have an amazing collection! I mean, you already do!
Hey I know this is a long shot but are you still looking for a 1986 200x kick start if so I have a complete motor I'd sell also I have a 85 250r bottom end with new piston ect ..
I appreciate it brother, but I did find one and the go cart I needed one for has been sold...
I also agree on the red swing arm on the 87. I don't Ike it. 86 is the best 200X In my opinion. They're just perfect.
I'm hoping someone argues with me about it.
@@ThisOldTrike when my buddy bought his first 87 I did think someone painted it...then I looked at the Honda literature and other 87s. I like that it's unique to that year, but I don't like the look of it.
You did forget to mention that the fork lowers (below the boots) are black on the 83/84 and are aluminum colored on the 85-87.
Would a 86 front fender fit on a 85?
my favorite trike 86/87 200x
I sold a guy an 87 once that looked a lot like you.
I miss my 86 so bad.
Your 86 200x the rear wheels are oem correct for that machine as well as the black plastic backing on the rear taillight. I have one I'm second owner and identical wheels and black plastic. Also I found magazine photo advertisement showing 86 and has forged wheels and black plastic.
I got the 85 mint waiting on the gokart video
There is what appears to be a nice original 1982 honda 110 atc on the Pittsburgh craigslist. No clue if the price is fair. Just fyi.
I'll check it out!!
OK. What's the secret to fixing the seat/tank gap?
Super Awesome collection!!! i'm building a '84 200 x right now and restoring it to mint condition. I had a '85 200x, Yamaha 200 and also a Tri-z 250 that i decided to sell when my son was 13 because it was tooooo fast. I regret it now! If you get a minute check out my scratch built Animated Batmobile i just finished building on my youtube channel i think you will like it. Both my best friends had 350x's when i had the 200x that really sucked, you were lucky!
I'll check out that video Al! Thanks for commenting!
My 5th birthday present was a 110 with 200 engine 😂
Are you sure?? I'm trying to figure out how they would have done that. The 110 motor was a "lay down" or "horizontal" motor. The 200 motors were "upright" motors. I'm just confused how they would have stuffed that 200 motor from a tubular frame into a stamped steel frame.
Hey I'm looking for a 200 X engine for an 85
I'm sorry I've got nothing for you unfortunately.
@@ThisOldTrike That would be awesome man, appreciated.
What do you do for a living to afford to collect?
I work for a medical device manufacturer and run their quality and regulatory department.
Any for sale
None are for sale.
@@ThisOldTrike that's terrible 2021 people should be riding them ok sell me one
Plenty out there for sale. You'll find them if you look.
@@ThisOldTrike not any really in nys all beat up
Sounds like you may have to expand your search area. Each one of these came out of the north east in the last few years. I know for a fact nice ones pop up for sale... just need to be patient and diligent.
I badly regret selling my '87
My condolences brother.
Awesome video! I completely rebuilt a 1986 Honda ATC 200x (2nd gen) on my channel if you would like to check it out!
I'll go check it out! Thank you for letting me know!
Nice video voice puts me to sleep tho
Jesus get some energy
Sorry I'm not a good enough clown for you. Better off not watching. Bye.
A lot of info.
I just bought my first 200X today. It’s a 1985
I need a 84 200x tank someone hook me up
