Oh my goodness you made this so easy to follow and saved me $400. My hubby said to toss out the squeaky dryer and buy a new one but I was determined to fix it. I did it! Thnx!
@@RoadsEndGarageExactly you can fix these dryers over and over again a hell of a lot cheaper than buying a new one I've fixed mine several times heating element and thermal fuse are mostly what I've replaced thermal fuse mostly
just wanted to thank you for putting this out there. I have the same dryer, same symptoms, your video helped me fix mine flawlessly. All squeaks are gone. thank you again!
Excellent job. Very simple and clear. Thanks to your video I was able to fix the squeaking with great ease. I wish all UA-cam videos were as helpful as this one.
You, sir, are amazing! Thank you so much for this video. I was able to get our dryer fixed for the cost of the grease... so much cheaper than a new dryer!
You sir are a godsend ❤️ Managed to keep my front load washer running for another year using trampoline springs..I'll be damned if I can't squeeze a bit more life out the dryer now that I now what is safe to use on them wheels❤️🏆❤️
Thank you!! Just the walkthrough o taking it apart helped me! I didn't even have to go as far as taking the belt off, I just cleaned everything out and carefully lubed the rollers at the back. Sounds brand new
Thank you so much for this great tutorial! I have never taken a dryer apart before but I watched your video over and over again and fixed my squeaky dryer. Hubby randomly brought me things but I took it apart and put it all back together. Thanks for all the great tips!
Great video and very helpful, only thing I do not like is the lithium grease. No lubricant is required, it will attract lint and the wheels will have a very short life!
Dude's speaking Alabama ease. He doesn't have an Amana (Uh-man-uh) dryer, he has an (Ar-mon-uh) dryer. I thought he was servicing a new brand of dryer. Keep up the good work Buddy!
Thanks great tutorial. The only thing I got confused was the tensioner since I thought it was originally supposed to stay in its place b4 re-adjusting the belt
Hey man great video. I replaced the wheels and belt but it will not spin when i put at least half a laundry load. The belt snapped twice. It’ll take a couple of garments but when its at least half full it will not spin appropriately. It stalls and i can smell the belt burning. The right wheel spins but it wont rotate it just stalls.
Thanks for putting this video up. Straight to the point and no BS by just cleaning them up and no ordering parts like all other videos suggest. I like it. All the dryers with rolling drum work the same way with belt and supporting wheels. I guess it will be a quick silicon graphite spray for me at the right place to see if the initial squeal stops.
@@FishHuntCookTinker Most of the time, anything mechanical requires just good lubrication, not replacing cheap parts from China. And as always, those "repairmen" always want to replace rather than to repair. As in tires, most of the time we just need to properly inflate them, but mechanics will want to replace them, plus brakes pads and steering wheels, etc. The world becomes unnecessarily expensive if we don't get our hands on. Again, thanks for the inspiration. A few shots of silicon spray and wd-40 took care of it.
I need to add a comment! I just followed this video with my Roper brand dryer model #RED4516FW0 and both dryers are built EXACTLY the same. I just fixed my dryer completely on my own from watching this video! Thank you so much!!! You literally just saved me $300
Y boss has a Kenmore dryer, but itshe same as yours. Thanks for this video. I believe I can fix theirs and save them a ton of money!!! Keep up the great work...
Great video. I did everything here and checked all the moving parts, but it didn't fix the squeak. I then noticed that there was a screw in the felt that connects to the drum, and the metal drum was rubbing against the screw which was making the squeak noise! Thanks for teaching me how to do this, though 😊
Replaced all the parts as shown above. Strange hearing a thump thump every revolution or so. But the grinding has stopped. But the thumping is very faint, the grinding sound was a bit louder and constant. Oh well... Thanks for the video very well done!
Thank you for watching and commenting! I hate that didn’t fix your problem. I wish I could tell you what’s wrong, but it’s hard to say without looking at it. You may want to check your seal and that the motor is secure.
@@FishHuntCookTinker I am thinking it could be the front seal, that it might have worn down, and it causes the drum to tilt down after it pops up again. That will be perhaps the next step. Thanks for your great video, that is ok.
Armana? Lol. Thanks for the video. Very Helpful.Had to figure mine out on the fly years ago. I spray mine with Superlube. (yes, that is what it is called) every couple of years, and mine sees a TON of use. Like so many appliances these days, it's a cheap-ass design. Grease, unless you use a synthetic silicone grease, doesn't last.
I cleaned and lubed the rollers and tensioner (bearings) with synthetic axle grease, conditioned the belt that was still in great shape. I started it and it was very quiet until it heated up, then it sounded like an Abrams tank! I opened the blower wheel housing and found that the wheel had cracks in and around it allowing it to flex and hit the housing assembly when it heated up and rotated. I plastic welded it for now, time to buy a new wheel soon I guess. ☺️👍
I’m sorry I tried to get it on video. It only would make the sound with a full load of wet clothes in it. When I decided to make the video and fix it. I did not have enough dirty clothes!
I know the video is old. I have the same dryer and I am having the same noise issue. BUT, have you had an issue with the start button not staying pressed in to keep the dryer on? I have replaced mine but some reason I can't get the button to stay on. It only stays on if you keep it pressed with something.
Can you elaborate on what's going on between 0:38-0:48? You take the two screws out of the dryer trap, "pull forward a little bit on the top of the dryer"? Is something supposed to release? Was this just you pulling the whole dryer closer for some reason? Are you supposed to unlatch or unscrew something behind the top panel?
Thanks for the video, the squeaking was unbearable. I have a newer model I removed the back instead, I only needed to replace the tension roller, $33.00 and an hour later it’s fixed! 👍👍
I'm waiting on my wheels to arrive from eBay, my roper dryer sounded like it was falling apart, got in there the wheels were torn apart with a large chunk of the rubber missing, I'm like well there's my problem, I was just wondering when I put it back together can you multi-purpose grease on the wheel shaft?
@@FishHuntCookTinker Thanks for the video! Got it fixed too, only took about 30 minutes once I had the parts, in reality it was torn down most of the day lol. The most difficult part was getting the belt on without it twisting on itself and then the other part was lining up the front with the little clips at the bottom while trying to hold the drum in place.. also didn't think to see if there were clothes in the dryer before I started and as soon as the front came off I saw the it was full 😅 also found about 5 bucks in change all inside
Thanks so much for the video, I was able to put my dryer back together with new belt and wheels. However when I start it up, the drum will turn with nothing in it but when I add clothes it will not turn. Thoughts??
I am glad you found it helpful! I thought I had put it in the description, but I guess I forgot. Unfortunately I can’t find the exact kit to link. It came from Amazon. If you search Amman dryer parts multiple ones come up. Thank you for watching!
I would check the drum rollers. Look for wear and flat spots. They could be completely worn out. I have had that happen. They support the main load, along with the front seal. Also check the belt and tensioner pulley.
Ours is this exact model. Everything looked good.. relatively clean and tight after making a general inspection I decided to just shoot the white pulley shaft and bearing with wd 40 and ran it a bit..then I applied some Tri Flow liquid and leveled the dryer and put it back together again. Its quiet now. I know it may need parts in the future..but this helped for now. Thank you!
I’m glad it helped you get it fixed. I replaced my rollers and ended up just putting the old ones back on. They fell apart in a week. Just keep it clean and oiled. Should last a long time!
I fixed everything as shown but now instead of a squeal is its now a rumble. I reopened and have black shavings by the pulley assembly. What did i do wrong?
