No agenda, No "Message", just pure unadulterated entertainment. I've missed these kind of movies. Thank you Tom Cruise and co for this film. Awesome.
The subtle message is that flying fighter jets off U.S. Navy aircraft carriers is about the coolest thing ever. The naval aviators, F18s, not to mention the Super Carrier were supplied for free to the film makers. Both movies were incredible recruiting tools for the US navy. Don't get me wrong, I loved the film! I'm with you for thanking Cruise and everyone else for the great movie they made!

I was 12 when I watched the first Top Gun & 36 years later will be watching it with my 12-year old son who has ASD & loves planes.

Top Gun: Maverick is the perfect sequel and the movie we've been waiting for. There will never be another Tom Cruise because he's an amazing pilot and a talented movie star.
I was 16 when Top Gun came out. My bedroom had every single poster of him in every movie he was in, every magazine he was in , I glued them on my walls and my ceiling. We didn’t have money back there so I used my babysitting money to buy them. I have watched the first one over a hundred times, for real. I’ve watched every single movie he’s been in over and over. I absolutely loved this movie, it had everything I had hoped for. Plus ‘Tom is still amazing and handsome as usual’ ❤️❤️❤️.

I've always been a big fan of Tom Cruise seen almost all his movies. Just saw the movie last night and just been binging on anything Cruise today. Just love his dedication and that he has soooo many licenses lol. Just watched him with James Corden in the Patriot plane. Tom Hanks was my all time favorite actor. I think Cruise has taken that crown now!!

I have been a Midway museum member for few years. Thier live presentations were once with the real life GOOSE. I understood the c ending parts where the hooks & big nets to help landing the jets. The Coronado houses are beautiful in the movies and any given day during visits. They really keep the filming in 2019 low key, local media didn't have any reports on it.

I still cant get over how good it was. If you see it see it in IMAX. In 1986 I got my Pilots license not because of Top Gun but because it was a life long dream. My career ended in 2019 so for me its really bitter sweet story. I have heard most people say how emotional it was. Not only is Maverics career ending this story is over and that too is kinda sad. I do recommend it to all.

When I think about it... I've never heard Tom say a foul word about anyone. Co stars or not. I love how he says he did the movie for his fans. That right there is huge. Just like when Nicki Minaj drops a CD she asks her fans when they would want it to go on sale.
What a movie!! Loved it and so did my 19 year old who had not seen the original. Cannot wait to see it again with my other son!!

One of the best movies this year! Along with The Batman. The first Top Gun was so iconic, and the opening scene/music theme is so epic, one of the best ever! 👍
Spoiler: Was so hoping that they do something similar with the new one, and so happy that they did, the whole thing, brought chills, it was amazing!! There’s many touching and teary-eyed moments, and one of them is def the scene with Maverick (Tom) and Iceman (Val), got the feels! 🥹
The whole film had good pacing overall, and the 3rd act/part was certainly the highlight. Omg, it’s so good, it’s on the edge-of-your-seat level of excitement! Must be watched in IMAX! 😎

What a fantastic and entertaining movie. I must say that it exceeds the 1st Top Gun movie by a mile!
The new movie is perhaps superior in many ways, but the original was just as amazing its time. We weren't used to seeing such close up and intense action yet back then - the original Top Gun had a significant influence on the industry and the audience.
If you were not old enough to see the original in the theater, then probably much of what you have seen has in some way been influenced by Top Gun, which makes it seem played out, or like nothing special. It's like when people who did not see the original Star Wars trilogy in the theater see those movies and can't understand the hype. They just see inferior (by modern standards) effects and slower, less dynamic fight scenes (and slower editing in general.) What they don't see is how those movies looked to the audiences' eyes in the context of the time. Anyway, glad you enjoyed the Maverick movie!
I would've loved to have seen the cast of the first movie on one of these events.
Or perhaps even a private screening event for them.
They should definitely make something like that happen.
Folks say it and I can only imagine that this movie stands well on its own,
however, I think the first movie and its characters are an integral part of just how well the new one turned out.
It'd be awesome to have all of them in one place.
They are all now truly a significant piece of movie history and should hounoured as such.

I avoid 99% of modern movies like the plague but I did go and see this one and I'm glad I did! Saw the original on April 9, 1986 as a fourteen-year-older ( wrote about it in my journal at the time ) and grew up seeing Tom Cruise in a bunch of movies over the years. He has always entertained me, made me laugh and cry, and he has provided more than his fair share of eye candy to the big screen, haha. Very happy that the sequel turned out to be such a huge success - it makes a statement more powerful than any of the woke movies of the past decade could ever dream of making.

Actors these days just don't know how to act anymore, why is that?? Even a seasoned actor like Jennifer Connelly appears fairly wooden in this movie. Same for the main female pilot, just very robotic and cold in her delivery... Ugh! Tom's and Val's scene together was from another world in that regard, it brought back at least a bit of that old time magic when two actors are interacting and having a real connection through dialogue.

Excellent movie, I really enjoyed it...but there's a sadness in his eyes, both in the movie and in real life, I wonder if he's really happy, he had those two strange marriages to Kidman and Holmes, he is never seen with this children...does he see them? Heroes in his movies always have a lovely wife, children playing in the yard...he hasn't been able to have that for whatever reason...

Many carryovers from original Top Gun like music, similar flying scenarios like going below the hard deck, beach scenes, and of course the Navy is crippled and useless without Tom Cruise breaking every rule there is and make the leadership look incompetent.
Breaking the rules is portrayed as cool in this movie where they defy leadership on a regular basis, steal aircraft as if it's a good thing with rewards, going well over mach 10 (impossible) unnecessarily and sacrificing a perfectly good aircraft, no motorcycle safety equipment, no boating life jackets, safety equipment, frequently exceed flight specs without good reason, little to no attention to the laws of physics, etc. There are way better ways to accomplish this rather lame mission but only Tom Cruise knows how & can accomplish it on every attempt.
It is a shame this movie was not real. For if it had been, Tom Cruise would have been instantly vaporized when he ejected at Mach 10.4 (if Mach 10.4 were even possible) in the beginning and we wouldn't have had to sit through the rest of this garbage that took more than 30 years to make. Flop Gun Mav totally sends the wrong message to would-be aviators and others about the US Navy, Top Gun, its leadership, the enemy, and how to live as a competent pilot.
