I did not expect the sequel that have been this good. The classic was an icon for good reason. But rarely are sequels significantly better than originals in pretty much every single way from cinematography, storyline, screenplay, writing, acting (ok to a lesser degree maybe), sound, editing, effects, etc. My wife and I rewatched the original two nights before watching the new one and I must say, once you get passed the nostalgia, there were so many glaring negatives about the first one that did not age well at all. Top gun maverick was truly the sequel that no one expected to be this good, kinda like Mad Max Fury Road was.

1986 to 2022 It was worth the wait. It was like a family reunion and everyone will experience a connection with Tom and the original characters along with the new generation of pilots. As a pilot, loved the realism of the actual flying scenes. Artistic and emotional blend. Big win.
I literally loved the respect they showed to the 1st movie in order to make this 2nd one ☝️ Even the fact that they kept many details like the main soundtrack theme and the font of letters in the beginning and ending of the movie.. this 80s vibe.. I am absolutely thrilled with this great connection they managed! Thank you for the great results in this astonishing movie! ❣️
Being a military brat this was so cathartic. My dad was a helicopter pilot in the navy. My first memory I have is being at an air show on Fourth of July I was in awe.
Thanks for the endless love and support you have constantly shown me in such difficult moment. I’m forever grateful. I really appreciate your unconditional love to me and every effort exerted by you to cause a change…Where are you watch ing from?
This is the first movie I would go back to theaters and watch again! I totally agree with a lot of the actors, waiting for a packed theater was the best experience!
Went and saw it today and I have to admit it was amazing to see in the theater. The theater was packed and what an experience. We cheered and cried together.
Brilliant interview and good to see all the casting casts bonding together and giving their inputs regarding the movie Top Gun Maverick. This movie so far the best movie in decades that has been produced. The flying scenes are incredible and breathtaking, and awesome movie. I watched it 3 times and can’t get enough of it! Thanks a bunch Tom Cruise for making this sequel, you’re such a legend and incredible actor. This will be your lasting legacy and thanks for the memories that I will never forget.
For more than 10 years now I’d grown bored of the moviegoing experience. I’ve rarely watched a movie twice in theaters, but this will be the first movie that I will have watched three times, in less than a week.
I never go to a release on opening night, but after the years of delays and being a coldwar soldier, how could I pass this up. My husband, young adult son and 2 coldwar pilot peers joined us. It was awesome!!
I watched Top Gun: Maverick today and it was a masterpiece. Tom Cruise and the rest of the cast all did a great job 👏 And Jennifer Connelly was beautiful as always ❤️
I can't recall the last time I heard a feature song that was just absolutely perfect for a movie. Lady Gaga did an amazing job with it and Hans Zimmer incorporating its composition into the score speaks for itself. The movie is a masterpiece.
Salute from Japan. Saw it yesterday in Shinjuku Toho as it was released....Awesome AF. Seriously, imma go again tomorrow. While its still available in iMAX.
Top Gun Maverick single handedly saved the cinemas. So many were closed down or in the process of closing, I’m very happy this movie came out when it did. Great movie all-round
I grew up in a military family and have loved planes as far back as I can remember. This is my all time favorite movie. I will watch this movie a hundred times !
I haven't been this excited to see a movie since I was a little kid. Even if it had been less than the original, it still would have been great. But no, it was more. Amazing in its simplicity, and dazzling in its complexity.
Seen it 7 times so far! I will go back again and again until it isn't in the theaters anymore!! I will own it of course but to see it with an audience and on the big screen, just nothing like it!!! Thank you Miles, (perfect for the role of Rooster) can't love you more! Thank you to all the cast each and everyone of you were perfect in your roles, how proud you all must be!!! Thank you Tom Cruise for being the most outstanding, most amazing, most brilliant actor out there of all time!!!!

Those twenty minutes made me love Maverick even more. Oh, and I know, there are much more important things about that movie and the movie is a near masterpiece, but how LOVELY is Jennifer Connelly, after all those years.
Omg! I came to watch Tom Cruise but I stayed for all the casting crew, just incredible actors. I see you Tom & Miles😘This movie is a definite award winning movie, best movie all year so far. I finally got to watch it yesterday and I was not disappointed. 1986-2022 is worth the wait. The sound quality, the casting, the picture quality, the music, my girl lady Gaga did her thang, man I can go on and on about this movie. A very emotional and strengthening movie. My main favorite parts are to watch the actors actually flying the F/ A-18 jets, incredible to watch. I wish my husband was still alive to watch this movie with me 😭😭 we wanted to watch this movie so bad together but he passed away in April before it hit the theatre. To all The Pilots out there, I salute 🫡 you all. Watching this movie gives me more respect for what you all do but makes me so afraid of ever hearing that I lost a family member and friends that serves in the Army. You guys are just incredible…

Awesome movie, I saw the original one years ago when I was in my 20's, now I am in my 60's and it still give me goose bump. Tom still doing an amazing job and the other actors also. It is for sure I will go see it again and again... Good job
I grew up an Air Force brat, was in high school Marine Corps ROTC and joined the NAVY 2 years after Top Gun in '88. I even saw the counter in the restroom where he propositions Charlie. There's a little plaque on it that mentions Top Gun. Cruise is my favorite actor and I even looked like him back then when I wore my Ray Ban Wayfarer sunglasses which I bought right after seeing Risky Business. I switched to Ray Ban Aviators after TOP GUN of course, which I still wear today and looked real badass when I became a cop. lol But what I want to say about Cruise is he always gets everything right. He has the most perfect and correct salute of any actor I've ever seen. Pisses me off when I see a stupid salute in a movie. By the way TOP GUN: Maverick came out on my birthday. Happy Birthday to me!!!
Now I know those scary faces are real reactions from the actors😂😂Only Phoenix can stay cool😂If Top Gun has another sequel, Phoenix and Hangman are going places for this😎
Saw the movie yesterday at the theatres it was pretty impressive, team work makes a lot of difference, when ppl work together great things are accomplished. It was very emotional throughout. There were no enemy countries just bandits, no political innuendo, a story of a combination of weakness and strength in human nature through the ages.
This was a fantastic movie. I was born in 1996, and the first top gun came out ten years before I was even born. And I'm so glad this movie happened. I saw it in theaters two weeks ago and it was amazing on the big screen. Definitely one of my favorite films to see in theaters in a long time.
I was 29 when I saw Top Gun. Loved it. Sequels are a bit of a hit and miss, so I went in with no expectation. Blown away, what an awesome movie. I think the sequel topped the first one. But the song Take my Breath Away by Berlin feels more epic. Don't get me wrong I think Lady Gaga's song is good too. Don't shoot me, it is just my personal preference. And can I just say, deep respect for Tom Cruise. I think some people find him polarising, but I really like him as an actor and a person. And it is awesome he is doing his own stunts and how super involved he is. Looking forward to the next instalment of Mission Impossible. That trailer looks awesome.
You know I agree with you. Take My Breath is on next level. I missed that too. But now the Gaga song has grown on me and I love it too bits. Its lyrics are so inspirational and so well sung.
this interview.... wow. i really thought they dont do journalism like they used to, and then here comes Sean with a stellar set of interesting questions that highlight the movie, give the actors a chance to have fun/let their personalities shine, and entertain the audience. phenomenal work.
The Original Top Gun was an iconic movie of its generation. Love it!!! Watched it more than 20X LOL! Top Gun Maverick will be this generation's!!!! It is so so good, fantastic soundtracks, good script that honour the original and yet tells it's own with amazing heart pounding action. You literally felt like you are in the cockpit!!! Gonna watch it again, my third... ☺️
Went to the cinema with my dad to see it. Ordered the BD in November, and I've watched it 3 or 4 times again. Loved it so much, it's a wonderful sequel to the original so many years later. These actors did one hell of a job.
OMG at 16:05 I feel like Miles is talking from the perspective of past trauma that was Fant4stic & if it really was I hope that he understands it's really not his fault but the studio, the audience don't blame him for that anymore. He's a damn good actor & I feel like he's been proving it in so many projects, including this one.
If this film gets snubbed, it's the academy which will look the worse for it. This film does what a movie is supposed to do so well, for so many people, that awards from Hollywood are almost meaningless.
Got goosebumps when I saw the beginning of the movie lol and my favorite quote... "I don't like that look mave" "It's the only look I got" Lmfao lmfaooooo
Finally saw this tonight!! OMGGGG it was absolutely incredible!! Was on the edge of my seat and also emotional at times. Loved this movie! Now watching all the interviews. Lol. Will need to watch the original too.

I'm glad my dad brought me to the cinema with him to watch this incredible movie. I mean, I haven't watched the first film cos I was not even born that time so I have no idea what this was about. I even planned to just sleep and let him watch in peace. Lol. But thank god I didn't actually sleep cos this movie was such a banger fr. Not to mention the cinematography! Hands down to all the people involved in the making of this movie! Absolutely the best! Gonna watch it again!!! (Just finished watching the 1st film. Lol.)
I just came from the theaters. I can confirm Top Gun makes grown men cry because I did cry. Bet this is a great movie. First movie I didn't pirate for about 15 years now. I can't wait for Top Gun 3. Let's go Tom Cruise!!
So good I've seen it 3 times and it has gotten better each time. It is so intense the first time that you miss lines etc that you catch at the next viewing!! Way to Go Mr Cruise, your Best Movie yet and Academy Award deserving!! USA USA 🇱🇷
The best movie out there. You really have to see the first one to feel the emotions portrayed in the second movie. The connection between the two is astounding. The emotions in the scene where Mavrick is looking in the bar where Rooster is playing the piano is deep. The look of reminiscing and pain in his eyes felt like you were there as Mavrick. The connection between Maverick and Rooster at the end is so heartwarming like Rooster looks at Mavrick like a Dad. Then at the same time Mavrick really feels like he is close to Goose through his son. Don’t get me started on Lady Gaga’s song, Hold my hand. It was perfectly written for Penny and Mavrick. I also Loved One Republic’s song, I Ain’t Worried when they were on the beach. OMG! Best movie ever!

This movie proved that making a blockbuster is still possible.
Thanks for the endless love and support you have constantly shown me in such difficult moment. I’m forever grateful. I really appreciate your unconditional love to me and every effort exerted by you to cause a change…Where are you watch
ing from?
As an aviation enthusiast this movie was top notch, definitely the best made flight cinematography ever, and was a incredible story
Came for Tom cruise, stayed for miles teller
This is the first movie I would go back to theaters and watch again! I totally agree with a lot of the actors, waiting for a packed theater was the best experience!
Got my IMAX ticket for my 2nd viewing before the next blockbuster comes after that (Jurassic Park). Have to see it IN IMAX
I saw it twice instant classic movie
I’ve seen it twice now ( both in the theater ) I realized how much I missed the first time!
Saw it at an IMAX theater. I’m still blown away! It tops all the previous scenes from the original TG. Must see movie!
Went and saw it today and I have to admit it was amazing to see in the theater. The theater was packed and what an experience. We cheered and cried together.
Give this interviewer a raise, he did amazing. Great questions
This cast has such chemistry 😍 I wish I could see them again in another work
Saw it yesterday in IMAX and was blown away. Also such a nice homage to the first one. Tony Scott would have loved it.
I’ve rarely watched a movie twice in theaters, but this will be the first movie that I will have watched three times, in less than a week.
...you're one ahead of me!
Dude if you’ve grown bored of the movie going experience you’re watching the wrong movies
Professor Cruise. Best nickname ever.
A True Master of His Art. Not a surprise that he is a fan of Japanese craftmanship and ethos.
You know a film is good when the theater is back to full again and there’re tears, 😆 and 👏🏼
no, this waht you write means that a previous film was good
I never go to a release on opening night, but after the years of delays and being a coldwar soldier, how could I pass this up. My husband, young adult son and 2 coldwar pilot peers joined us. It was awesome!!
I watched Top Gun: Maverick today and it was a masterpiece.
Tom Cruise and the rest of the cast all did a great job 👏
And Jennifer Connelly was beautiful as always ❤️
I can't recall the last time I heard a feature song that was just absolutely perfect for a movie. Lady Gaga did an amazing job with it and Hans Zimmer incorporating its composition into the score speaks for itself. The movie is a masterpiece.
i really liked the song but the one by one republic stole the show for me, perfect song for the scene it was in
I personally disliked her song but oh well
Salute from Japan.
This interviewer's charisma, questions and tone is amazing. Great interview experience.
Thanks for the endless love and support you have constantly shown me in such difficult moment. I’m forever grateful. I really appreciate your unconditional love to me and every effort exerted by you to cause a change…Where are you watching from?
you can feel that these guys actually enjoyed what they did. I know definitely would
Those twenty minutes made me love Maverick even more.
Thanks for the endless love and support you have constantly shown me in such difficult moment. I’m forever grateful. I really appreciate your unconditional love to me and every effort exerted by you to cause a change…Where are you watching from?
Amazing movie! Was a treat watching in IMAX. Will watch it again when the crowd thins
Glad I got to see it at the theaters. What an amazing collective experience we in the audience had cheering for these guys.
I watched it yesterday and I cant get over it. What an awesome cinematic experiencce. I feel like I want to go watch it again on the big screen!
Awesome movie, I saw the original one years ago when I was in my 20's, now I am in my 60's and it still give me goose bump. Tom still doing an amazing job and the other actors also.
It is for sure I will go see it again and again... Good job
So amazing to hear that sir. I have seen it twice myself. And I will watch it again. Took my wife and kids too, they loved it too. 😊😊
Awesome interview, I love the behind the scenes stuff, as much as the movie itself. Huge respect to all who made this movie possible.
This made me feel the need...
The need for speed
“I feel the need.” “The need for speed!!!”
the need for speed!
@@annabellehuiskes5724 Oww!!!
It was SO good, I'm buying it for sure. But I a topgun nerd so I'm biased.
this interview.... wow. i really thought they dont do journalism like they used to, and then here comes Sean with a stellar set of interesting questions that highlight the movie, give the actors a chance to have fun/let their personalities shine, and entertain the audience. phenomenal work.
I’ve seen it five times in five days I really can’t get enough of this film!
Saw the original in high school, seen it 100x over the years and this was worth the wait. Fantastic!!!
This is probably one of THE best films I've seen in forever
Went to the cinema with my dad to see it. Ordered the BD in November, and I've watched it 3 or 4 times again. Loved it so much, it's a wonderful sequel to the original so many years later. These actors did one hell of a job.
This movie was awesome!! I am 41 and grew up to the soundtrack from the original movie. One of the few times that the sequel is as good as the first.
This is a truly great film
The Academy Awards needs to get out of its comfort zone and give a major award to a film like this.
If this film gets snubbed, it's the academy which will look the worse for it. This film does what a movie is supposed to do so well, for so many people, that awards from Hollywood are almost meaningless.
Your not kidding I agree!!!!
If you throw me in the ocean I will Bob. -- lmfao... classic
Got goosebumps when I saw the beginning of the movie lol and my favorite quote...
"I don't like that look mave"
"It's the only look I got"
Lmfao lmfaooooo
Finally saw this tonight!! OMGGGG it was absolutely incredible!! Was on the edge of my seat and also emotional at times. Loved this movie! Now watching all the interviews. Lol. Will need to watch the original too.
Thanks for the endless love and support you have constantly shown me in such difficult moment. I’m forever grateful. I really appreciate your unconditional love to me and every effort exerted by you to cause a chang…Where are you watching from?
I'm glad my dad brought me to the cinema with him to watch this incredible movie. I mean, I haven't watched the first film cos I was not even born that time so I have no idea what this was about. I even planned to just sleep and let him watch in peace. Lol. But thank god I didn't actually sleep cos this movie was such a banger fr. Not to mention the cinematography! Hands down to all the people involved in the making of this movie! Absolutely the best! Gonna watch it again!!! (Just finished watching the 1st film. Lol.)
You can watch the first movie on UA-cam vod in HD. Pay some $3 only. And then watch the second movie again.
USA USA 🇱🇷
Didn’t expect to like it so much
Great production
OMG! Best movie ever!
just watched this phenomenol movie
please folks , these are the movies which deserve to cross the $1 billion mark not some random green screen movies with unfinished CGI asw ell as unfinshed VFX
the story , the pace , the thrill and so much more
this movie delievers everything perfectly.
this movie was absolutely incredible.i may have bought three more tickets after my first time seeing the movie.that’s how good it was.the cinematography, acting, and the connection between rooster and maverick is absolutely beautiful, even the connections to the original movie.Tom cruise you legend.
Just go back from seeing this movie. Awesome. Good job everyone. 👏
All I can say is wow unbelievable great movie. Seen it this past weekend and loved it.
Everyone was so happy coming out of the cinema - I haven’t seen that since the eighties actually!
Brilliant casting and EVERYBODY did an amazing job . Having Miles Teller as Rooste r was absolutely inspired ! Put him and Goose side by side and you would be hard pressed to tell them apart ! Wow ! Just saw it for the 2nd time and it was just as amazing !
cried like 6-7x.... both cause it was so beautiful to see REAL visuals and FEEL the sound running through your spine... and also that.... emotional release. It was a really good cup of coffee you can only get at the cinemas with this film.... and not "spill it on your uniform." 😉
So glad they waited to release this rather during the pandemic
I loved Top Gun when it was released and when Top Gun 2 was released...I cried 😢. I've now seen it at least 5 times and I can see it again and again 👀! When 🧊🪦, I had to paus the movie because I couldn't see through all the tears 💔😭. No movie has touched me like this in a long long time 👍! Love it! 💖💖💖
JUST WATCHED IT !!! FREAKING INCREDIBLE!!!! PERFECTION!!!!
ABSOLUTELY LOVED THIS MOVIE!!! I watched it yesterday with my Dad, Grandpa, Mom and Sister for Father’s Day and even though it’s been out for like a month the theater was full!! Like we were gonna go at a time but when we got there it was full so we had to change our movie time sooo
Thanks for the endless love and support you have constantly shown me in such difficult moment. I’m forever grateful. I really appreciate your unconditional love to me and every effort exerted by you to cause a change.Where are you watching from?
What I love about this cast is how close this cast became with everything they went through.
Good things happen at the right time! It was the uplifting, nostalgic yet forward looking movie we all needed. A hopeful turn for 2022 cinema!
Great for Memorial Day weekend perfect timing!!!!
Glen and Miles have my heart ❤️
What an INCREDIBLE movie!!! This movie certainly DESERVES an Oscar, 10X without a doubt.
I am more than happy that my boyfriend had me go see this, one of the best movies out there, had me in tears
I remember in the beginning of 2021, when the momentum of COVID was really kicking in, nobody was driving on the road, everything closed streets deserted. It felt like the scene from the old movie “Omega Man” . I felt is this it? Are we doomed? I was so excited to see Top Gun Maverick in the theater with your partner next to you, no mask, no 6’ distance.
Not only was this a fantastic movie, I think this movie came along at the perfect time to rejuvenate society back to feeling normal again. Thanks Tom, cast and crew members for your outstanding talents.
It’s such a good movie! Really it deserves the best! Everyone should see it!
Love the respectful and insightful questions asked here :) Thank you !
Watched it on the premier night! Soooo awesome!
Bro rent free this one scene:
Beach scene + rooster dancing = 💘
