Thank you Scott Avett, for reminding me to believe in my own gifts and to be grateful for whom ever we become. Again a young man, father, musician who has humility, massive talent and a voice to share his kind wisdom.

Probably one of the most down to earth guy. I adore him and the lyrics and music he and his brother Seth write inspire and move me beyond anything I could have imagined.

Wow! So much wisdom in that speech, applicable to so much more than the occasion.

+Rick Deevey The Avett Brothers are extremely talented, salt-of-the-earth, neo-Renaissance men. They are wise beyond their years and scope. Truly reverent and honest, I have the utmost respect for them. :)

Scott Avett you are so right about so many things. What fortunate students to hear your wisdom on the lessons you have learned and continue to learn. I feel just as fortunate as through your music and modeling on life I have gained this positive influence as well. Thank you Scott.

So grateful to you for uploading this video. Scott Avett is a treasure, to be sure, and his advice here is based on solid learning, both institutional and real-life. What a fortunate bunch to hear him deliver this in person. Namaste

I am just now seeing this..love the Avett Bros...I too went to ECU School of Art in 1977...going to college isn't an easy transition for so many...I finally graduated 5 years later...Scott's personal stories help give young people inspiration to continue the journey...I'll never forget my older brother ( who also went to ECU) saying to my son.."I hope you do better in school than your mom"...and my immediate reply was " My Diploma doesn't say "Patti Partied" it simply states BS Art...it may have taken me longer...but I got a well rounded education...I have fond memories and stories to tell!! Scott's speech certainly gives insight into what an amazing family of strength and love he comes from...I know they are proud of him and his brother!!

He killed that Traverse City show. I was there for that. 3 encores and absolutely amazing time. I am so pleased he did this the following day. Just another reason he is becoming an idol of mine.

Wow! Glad I clicked here. Couldn't believe he said only 4000 people showed up for that concert what a loss to those thousands of other people.

Forget Scott, who's the goddess in the back. She just looked like a pro model for 23 mins. 😍

Aw man, they missed that turn off to merge on 264 off 64 coming east from Raleigh. Plymouth isn't THAT far from Greenville but definitely far enough to freak out a little if you're pressed for time.
