    I understand what Mike Gundy was saying… just extremely poorly worded. Like bad.
    A vast majority of us went to college and saw people make that poor decision and or made that poor decision while in college. My 2nd year of graduate school I was hit by a drunk 18 year old sorority girl at 3am after dropping off all of my friends while being the DD for them that night. Totaled my car, broke my collar bone, gave me a concussion, broke my nose, and burns on my hands from the air bag.
    Life is a thing of 2nd chances. I’m a mental health counselor and a vast majority of my industry is people who are on a 2nd, 3rd, and 4th chance.
    I’m glad Ollie Gordon didn’t just tank his career. He made an extremely poor decision. AND he should be given a 2nd chance. Again, I get what Gundy was trying to say, just poorly poorly worded. Also listening to Gundy for 15 plus years you kind of have to know how this man talks.
    All that being said… from a mental health professionals standpoint point. 30 days of treatment in residential and or PHP/IOP, AA meetings, ongoing outpatient counseling the remainder of the year, 1-2 game suspension. If he’s a professional now, the NFL also gives out suspensions for things like this. NFL is a 3 game suspension without pay and 8 games for a 2nd time without pay.
    And yes Pete, I’ll get on the message boards soon.
    Between running my practice, being a husband, father, and training for a marathon I gotta pick and choose my time right now

    • @heartlandcollegesports

      I kind of get that Chase, but still HORRIBLE choice of words, and he spent too much time justifying BAC levels to really get sympathy for claiming he was just talking about "bad decisions". See ya around man! -Pete

      @chasewade6482 17 днів тому

      @@heartlandcollegesportsagain, horribly horribly worded. Comparing BAC, saying he has done that a thousand times.
      And those people in my industry served some kind of punishment and or help. I don’t agree with the course of action taken afterward and I don’t like his words. And I can understand why he isn’t booted off the team.

    Pete, what if the Big 12 has a 13-0 Big 12 champion, 11-2, and 10-2. Is that 3 teams in the top 12?
    I feel like that 10-2 could be scrutinized as not having a tough schedule and get ranked 14th. Also depending on when those 2 loses were. That’s the only shot at a 3 team but has to lock in 2 teams. That 11-2 could be 10th - 12th

    • @gruntledboi
      @gruntledboi 17 днів тому

      That would be amazing but you know the committee would find some way to shut out a 10-2 Big 12 team in favor of a Big 10 or SEC team that goes 10-2 or even 9-3 in some cases. I feel like our second best team would honestly have to go 11-1 or 12-1 to safely make the playoff this year given what happened to FSU last year

    Liked coach Whitts’ conference. He knows it will be a dogfight every week.
    Hot take. I predict a lower level team will surprise and move into the top 8 echelon. Whether it’s ASU or BYU or Colorado or maybe even UH. On the flip side I see a predicted top level team sliding hard and barely making a bowl game and or even missing one. Could be Arizona or UCF or maybe Kansas.

    While unlikely, KSU and Utah can both go 12-0 and meet in the championship game.

    Your reaction to Mike Gundy's comments is expected for a millennial... people your age have been institutionalized to react a certain way. 1. Mike Gundy is not a millennial, we think differently. 2. Mike Gundy has come to the point in his career in which he can speak his mind a little more freely, what are they going to do... fire him? He's already a multi-millionaire, so what? In time, Pete, you too will come to a place in your career ( as I have ) in which you will be more free to speak your mind. All Mike did was speak truth, that is not very popular these days. I appreciate your podcast.

    Your take on college football playoff is so wrong it's ridiculous. Do the math. I don't see any conference having more than 4 teams and only if they somehow have 4 teams with 10-2 or better records to finish the season. I don't see a 9 win team getting in, without divisions, because for that too happen they'd have to lose 3 non conference games and then win their conference after losing 1 more conference game so they're 8-4 going into championship game and then winning the game to only have 9 wins taking an auto slot.
    So say SEC and Big 10 get 3 teams each. Group of 5 and Notre Dame take 2 more. That leaves 4 spots. That leaves 2 auto bids and 2 at large left for the taking.
    You're literally saying a 9-3 team from big10 or SEC will get the spot over a 10-2 or 10-3 team from the Big 12 or ACC. Do the math on this topic sometime. Tell me the best finish for the top 5 teams there can be, records wise in each conference and then I'll listen to your take on Big 12 only getting 1 autobid team into the playoffs each year.
