The Stadium Heads podcast continues their college football conference by conference Stadium evaluations continue with the Big 12 Stadiums. Pick Dundee aka (@TheColbyD) & Michael Barker aka (@CFBcampustour) break down each and every team in the new 16 team version of The Big 12 conference. Do the BYU Cougars have one of the best stadiums in all of College Football with Lavell Edwards Stadium? Do the Houston Cougars, Arizona State and UCF need to drop the corporate nonsense title with their stadiums? Did the TCU Horned Frogs do an amazing job revamping Amon G Carter Stadium?
What do we make of the Arizona Wildcats Stadium in Tucson? Should Sun Devil Stadium go back to hosting the Fiesta Bowl instead of that lame State Farm Stadium? Do the Colorado Buffaloes have one of the top stadiums in America with Folsom Field in Boulder, Colorado? Why are the Kansas Jayhawks revamping their stadium to look more current when they have Kansas State and Bill Snyder Family Stadium right down the road? Did the West Virginia Mountaineers do their best getting Mountaineer Field back to being top notch? Did the Baylor Bears kill it with McLane Stadium in Waco, Texas? Is Nippert Stadium in Cincinnati, Ohio one of the most underrated stadiums in America? Did the Utah Utes and Rice Eccles Stadium have one of the best home field environments in all of college football? We talk it all and more on this Big 12 edition of The Stadium Heads?

Respectfully, regarding Texas Tech University’s Jones AT&T Stadium, I must say your comments were a bit off. The original stadium was at approximately ground level, but in an expansion, they cut the stadium’s East side from its foundations and moved the entire side on railroad tracks to dig and lower the field 30+ feet to create a lower bowl between the two sides of the stadium. (The East side was always the visitors’ side). There were end zone buildings installed in later years. The exterior of the stadium was a lattice of concrete structures open to the West Texas elements until around 2000 when the West Stadium project built an entirely new facade to match the campus’ Neoclassical Spanish Renaissance Style Architecture, which was completed around 2003. That is still the most impressive side of the stadium from the exterior. That renovation came with many new luxury suites and box seats. Later that decade, Tech focused on adding a facade and press boxes to the East Side of the stadium. Soon afterwards, the North end zone building was remodeled and extra seating was installed, removing some of the grassy area from around the North Double T. Around the same time, the upper bowl was extended into the North end zone and the arcade you said was original, (but wasn’t), was added. At that point, the seating was over 60,500 seats. Then, last year, during the time when you were there, the South end zone building and seating were demolished to build the new $242,000,000 addition you could see rising in your pictures. That TEMPORARILY lowered the stadium seating to the number you wrote for one season, but that would be like saying that Kansas’ new stadium has zero seats because it is closed for one season. Either way, I hope you enjoyed your trip to Lubbock.

The thing that UTAH has that byu doesnt is Downtown Salt Lake City behind it on the west side you can see from some parts. Thats why it should be number 1.

I'm doing my doctoral work at K-State/spent last year in Manhattan. BSFS is a beautiful venue for its size! The university/Wildcat Community has done an amazing job developing the facility. Plus. It fits in perfectly with the architecture of the campus.

Going to the Utah vs Colorado game in 2021 wouldn't give a great taste of the environment either. It's still wild, but the game largely didn't matter much. The USC or Oregon games were absolutely insane.

I can understand the confusion but Rice Eccles is 97 years old, not 26. Technically it’s not a new stadium but a renovated stadium. Also you can get from Utah state, down past Weber and the U of U to BYU in 2 hours, not 4.

Oh, UCF is the largest university in Florida by enrollment and one of the largest in the nation with 70,000 students! So FIU is up there but no where near the student population of UCF.

Nippert is 42k not 38k, 38k is the previous amount. It was bumped to around 40k with 2K standing room only so 42k total.

Nippert is great for most UC games. However, why not allow 20,000 more fans attend the game when playing WVU like it was when both teams were Big East football rivals. Those games were played at the Bengals' NFL stadium and always filled to capacity. It may be too late this season to schedule the game there but if 20,000 more fans from both sides can attend, it's worth it.
