Haha thanks and back at ya, nice to talk to fellow professionals. I really struggle with the editing some day ill get the background music figured out lol.
Excellent video. Just subscribed. I hope your other video's will also have a bunch of tips and details like this. I hate videos that act like the viewer knows what he is doing.
@@AMAYERICAN Thanks for reaching out. I have a lot of requests for future videos. :-) One thing you didn't explain was how you squared the layout lines that you made on the floor. That is a very important step. In general, any video that requires things to be squared is always a great step to have. Without things being square, plumb, and level then everything will be off. The more complex the situation the better. One example is how line up/square a new wall to an existing wall. It would be great if you had an example of how to line up a new wall with an existing plaster wall or better yet extend the wall. All scenarios would be good content. The last example I would give for now, is how to level a ceiling or floor in an old house. Both would be great to have as content on your channel. Don't forget, the more detail the better. There are already a bunch of youtube videos out there that tell you the basics of what to do, but most of them don't go into enough details. Therefore, unless you already have experience, most people are going to mess up and not know what to do fully. This is especially the case when you are working in an old house.
@@mandingoteckdailey5235 Thanks really appreciate the response, very good points. I have been doing the opposite thinking people want the bare minimum due to time constraints. I agree with you the devil is always in the details. The next framing job I will cover some of those topics such as pulling off stairwell wall, 3-4-5 method, and using string lines to pull through an existing wall, etc. You sound like you have some construction experience yourself? Are you in the trades? Thank you again for all the great feedback, very helpful!
@@AMAYERICAN Sorry for the delay, I didn't know you wrote back. Anyway, i'm definitely not in any trade. However, I am an software engineer :-) I know some of the theory, but no real practical experience. I tried to do a few simple things and it was always harder or more time consuming than what they say on tv. Plus, I have an old house, so things are out of square, so I don't attempt to do anything unless something is broken. Now, if i've seen videos where people showed things in detail, especially when things are messed up(old house) then I would be more confident that I can do something when things are not perfect.
You could box them out individually and wrap either drywall or wood. If you wanted to hide them in a wall just frame in between each column then run drywalll over. Depending on column diameter you may have to go with 2x6s. Does that makes sense?
Are structural issues resolved? It depends on the situation. Was a beam was added to support sagging joist in the middle of the span? Or whats the details of the situation?
@@AMAYERICAN Do you use a lumber yard? Plus just about all lumber has a crown.I didn't feel like going to home Depot and fish through all the crap.I used a lumber yard. Seems to be ok.
Man... only video I could find on what to do with the wall that runs parallel to the floor joists... THANK YOUUU
Glad I could help!
very nice video!! I learned a lot and I will use their teachings. thanks !!
Thanks for watching/ subscribing! Glad you picked something up from it!

Eye protection?
How do you frame and drywall basement wall repair columns, that run the legnth of a basement wall?

@@AMAYERICAN So there are no hard rules for doing this, it's just all aesthetics....okay.
Are structural issues resolved? It depends on the situation. Was a beam was added to support sagging joist in the middle of the span? Or whats the details of the situation?
@@AMAYERICAN No, these are just wall reinforcements. To keep the wall from moving. I see them in a lot of older homes here in WI.
Gotcha then yeah just cosmetic. Making box column wraps would be cool for a more open feel
God bless
Thanks for watching!!! 🙏👊🇺🇸
@@AMAYERICAN subbed! Looking at your other videos too
Did you crown your studs
Yessir, I always pick my own lumber too.
@@AMAYERICAN Do you use a lumber yard? Plus just about all lumber has a crown.I didn't feel like going to home Depot and fish through all the crap.I used a lumber yard. Seems to be ok.
Yep typically mead lumber or Home Depot, HD lumber has been better than the lumber yard lately it’s wild.
Did you go with tapcons or ramset ?
@@AMAYERICAN Ramset for the base and frame nailer for top plate. I have a Banks nailer n having trouble toe nailing.
Ah its not framing if your using a screw gun..lol 🙄
