    Great video…answered many of my questions.
    Question…Do you have or plan to have videos on how to fire block your walls?
    Thanks in advance!

    Would be nice to know on your california croner or whatever you call it if I start the 16 inches from the end then there will only be a 12 1/2 opening to your first stud. Should we not figure it out and make the measurement so the gap is equal all the way? I cannot find one instance on YT that address this issue.

      Think of it in terms of how your drywall will finish. Whether your talking on the wall the runs past the intersecting plate. Or it’s the wall that buts into it. I typically stack framing to floor joist tho as it makes it easier for drywall/ other trades, looks better too. Send me a pic of what your talking about on instagram I’ll see if I can help. instagram.com/amayerican_made?igshid=MTNiYzNiMzkwZA%3D%3D&

      perfect, I was thinking of sliding one wall to the ends meet and do not need a california corner but then I thought I would never get electrical through the corner or insulation in. Thank you@@AMAYERICAN

    I can’t seem to find a video that discusses how the 16 on center continues around a corner. Do I start again from each piece of wood?

      Start from the inside corner where your walls meet, or follow floor joist above to keep framing stacked running length of the basement. Also I think I covered California corners in that video but essentially making an L to catch drywall into the corner. Place the L on the wall that runs past, so the short wall butts in to the L for backing.

    @Drew, did you ever hear of or install an ABSCO brand metal shed? They call for a concrete slab with a 3 inch wide by 1 inch deep “rebated edge” to assist with water drainage. I think it's a complete crap concept. I poured my 10x10 slab but the rebated edge turned out like hot garbage so I had to spend 2 days fixing it. I'm going to post a video in the next few days on my channel.

      No I haven’t but I can’t wait to see the video ! Curious what a rebated edge is haha, sounds technical!

    Quick question, hopefully it makes sense. When stacking framing how is the top plate secured? Seeing how the wall studs are directly under the floor joists.

    • @AMAYERICAN
      @AMAYERICAN  Рік тому +1

      You can angle your nailer In the crevice of the stud plate connection and sink two nails if that makes sense.

    This is more intermediate than beginner. You were saying words and slang I have no idea about you have to explain that if it’s for beginners

    so you have 2 cut the drywall on the through wall? and the sheet siding on the exterior wont extend past the butt wall onto the through wall 2x4?

    At around 3:30 you start talking about the next wall coming in. If you know you are doing this does in change where you start the 16 on center? For example do you now go in 3.5" or so then start 16 on center with the first wall if you know you will have a corner coming in?

    • @AMAYERICAN
      @AMAYERICAN  Рік тому

      It depends on how your pulling layout but yes, multiple right ways to do it. My preference is to stack framing with floor joist when possible. Makes plumbing/ electrical/ hvac easier
