    I still maintain you are the best lawn care channel out there. No frills, just proper advice, no gimmicks just using what most people already have. Since I started watching your channel when you were around 3k subs, my lawn is miles better. I always tell anyone that asks about lawns about your channel, and it’s helps friends too 👌🏻

    Your most succinct and informative video thus far imo, always enjoyed your videos and picked up some valuable info/tips, but sometimes felt I left not having quite the full story (usually re benefits of specific products, ratios etc, amplified by the fact I'm a complete lawn novice). I have been watching all your vids for the last two months.Brilliant.My lawn is sad dry and worn and needs a lot of attention.Hopefully with a lot of Jacks Magic and effort I can bring it back to life.Scarifying has practically scalpt it so its almost like starting from scratch.I have top dressed to level it off as best I can,reseeded (had to do it by hand because spreader just didnt work) and then covered with Jacks Magic.Away now for a fortnights holiday so on my return please dear God show me some grass.

    Good but of hollow core aeration would have helped lawn from drying out by getting water to roots and holding moisture for longer instead of running off top surface.

    I’ve been getting ready to do a lawn repair & reseed etc but noticed yesterday there’s so much bark that the birds have been throwing on the lawn. I do clear it but a small amount has made its way through the grass and into the thatch. Using bark in the flower beds was such a mistake. I’m now going to switch it for 40mm plum slate instead, which set me back with the lawn repair 😿

      Bark is a good option for organic matter and weed supression. The birds are feeding on insects in the beds, deter them and/or take away their food and you won't have issues. Also pull back the bark from the very edge of the lawn and make a small dip - define a clean edge with a spade. Slate won't help your soil.

    If I don’t have a scarifier, what’s the best way to scarify the lawn. I’m in Australia and I was thinking of maybe scalping and then raking. Then I was gonna level the ground with some topsoil and then some new seed an seed starter.. My lawn looks like the scorched one that you’ve just done. Although we’re just coming into spring now. Love the show by the way. Scouser abroad lol..

    I’ve got my scarifier booked in ( a few times ) , I need to put some 70/30 down to help level up a little dip area. But if I put that down before the scarifie , will it just get turned up or would it be ok.
    It’s getting reseeded to at the same time.
    I don’t know if il mess thar up if I put the 70/30 down after. The only other though, was asking if they leave me some extra seed and I put that down after I’ve finished. 🤔

    Hi Daniel. I'm a new subscriber to your channel. I recently had an extension done in my garden and the builders have left a mess, there's rubble, sand, concrete, and bare patches on my lawn. How do I repair it mate? I'm a novice gardener and any help would be much appreciated. Thank you.

    • @Erectmygreenhouse
      @Erectmygreenhouse 2 роки тому +2

      Rake up the rubble and concrete first. Mow it low, scarify, re-seed, feed with fertiliser high in phosphorus and cover with compost.
      We bought an electric scarifier for £120 - cheaper long-term than hiring one. After Daniel's advice I've started scarifying more - a few weeks later the blades start growing upwards plus you get rid of some of the weed grasses that grow sideways. Also don't use the store seed - get a perennial ryegrass seed or fescue if you want a fine-leaf lawn - or a mix which is what I use.
      Take care and good luck!

I’m hoping for some dry days at the end of this week where I can get the seed down, but I’m wondering if the pre seed fertiliser I put down last weekend will still be any good, or will it have been washed away by all the heavy rain and will I need to put down more fertiliser?
