How horrific that Derwin's family got no financial assistance to live due to the fact he resigned his position to run, but hadn't legally been sworn in yet as Sheriff. Dorsey should have had to sell everything he owned and pay compensation for it.

I was a DeKalb resident and knew Derwin Brown before he was killed. I attended the party at Scores he was at that night. We were toasting and congratulating the victory. This was a tragedy on many levels. What makes me cry is the fact that Mrs Brown had to fight until her death for Derwins benefits. The state used a loophole against and her children. Rest on Power Mr. and Mrs Derwin Brown.

It is the most powerful drug. Very very very few can control power. That’s why their should be limits on all politicians, judges DA’s , congress. I wanted to be a police officer. I’m glad I didn’t because I have watched good men turn evil. The union protects them. They become immune to empathy.honesty out of control egos. Why ? No accountability, they investigate themselves. With this logic we should let criminals investigate themselves. It has truly become a gang of conspirators protecting themselves. Almost impossible to honor their oath. If you don’t help your buddy by lying on a report you will be outed.

Not some people. Every person. Every politician and cop abuses their power to some extent! No human being is strong enough to be 100% moral and honest when given that much power.
You have hitmen(Every cop) at your disposal to do your bidding for you! You control the treasury/money department. You have the city lawyers at your disposal. That would go to anyone's head especially after so long in power.
I used to think people who were older than me, in a powerful position like cops, religious people never lied, were more mature, more moral, more honest...but No, they are not. They are more dishonest, more immoral and the biggest criminals in the world.

What's easily overlooked is the fact that if this happens at small stations like that, it is definitely happening everywhere across the country! With the current temperature of the abusive nature of "policemen" today. The validity of the appointments of every law enforcement officers in cases of firing for derilection of duty, mishandling of evidence, and the countless violations of corrupt police, must be checked and NEVER omitted in every case. To be able to put anyone you choose in uniform, based on simply wanting them in uniform is SO DIRTY that it must be asked of citizens. Who knows that it's possible to issue a gun and badge to anyone who hasn't undergone the most rudimentary police training? If anyone answers that question with, "I know that it happens." That person must immediately be placed behind BARS! THIS IS NEWS TO MY EARS, AND I SADLY BELIEVE THAT PEOPLE KNOW ABOUT THIS HAPPENING.

The biggest mistake was leaving the body. You dont handle things like that. You cant give the prosecution nothing to work with. In this case the found the gun, shells, and people involved. Today you can even carry a phone on you. Murder is not always a bad thing. Sometimes its much more effective then the law.
