That Steve Reich/John Adams record is BEAUTFUL. I've had it on CD since the '80s, but was lucky to find a sealed copy on eBay a few years back. Wonderful recording...
eBay? May I ask, why? You pay too dollar, and it takes all the fun out of buying classical, as opposed to, say, finding them thrifting for pennies on the dollar. And you don’t have to deal with shipping foolishness, not to mention the price gouging that sellers impose upon buyers. To each their own….
I also spend a lot of time in thrift stores. I have several ways to buy records. If you are a collector and want to buy rarities then you must buy wherever they appear even if that means paying more money. Will this Steve Reich record ever appear in front of my eyes in a thrift store in ex condition or at all? Probably not.
@@LPCLASSICAL I have had some good luck finding rarities thrifting, including an autographed Maria Callas Lucia Di Lammermoor I paid $2 for thrifting. Also signed by Tito Gobbi and Guiseppe DiStefano.
You can occasionally get these rarities thrifting. But if you are a serious collector and want ready supply of interesting records - then ebay can be a good source.
Some great finds there. In particular, Kiri's recording of Canteloube's _Chants d'Auvergne_ is stunningly beautiful.

I listened to the first side - yes good pieces and lovely sound.
The CBSO's not as good as my previous band... igazmondás
