Everyone has been all up Travis Barker's ass since the late 90s. Cyrus is such a badass, underrated drummer. His drumming has perfect fills-- he doesn't over-do it. I've always loved his style since I first heard Nothing Gold Can Stay and A New Found Glory. Huge props to such an amazing drummer, thanks for what you bring to our ears Mr. Cyrus!

I have to check out more of these videos. You're always a fantastic drummer to watch! It's so helpful to see what you're actually doing on the kit because I'm mainly a guitarist but when I play other people's songs on drums, I tend to overthink what's actually being played. This reassures me that I'm on the right track! Great job also on not missing a beat while probably not being able to hear very well. It looked like the monitor engineer was having a bit of a nap. Eye contact with everyone should be the #1 priority for a monitor engineer. Thanks Cyrus!!!

I was looking over at the monitor area to try and get the monitor engineer's attention...to no avail. That's Warped Tour for you...a classic "throw and go" with no soundcheck, and line checking instruments while the other band is playing...you never know what it's gonna sound like when you walk on stage

John Ralph Rapiz that’s me aiming my fan/blower down to the ground. I have a love/hate relationship with that thing. Every time I tell myself I don’t need it, I feel like the show that day is the hottest show ever, and so on Warped Tour I consider it mandatory.
But, when adrenaline takes over, sometimes you don’t want (hot) air blowing in your face, you just wanna get down and dirty, sweaty af and play your butt off.

Lol I think drummers are so underrated at shows (shit end of stick) lol. How do you guys play. Do you set the tempo or do you follow the guitars in your monitor?
I've cracked plenty of cymbals during shows. That's why I: a) always try and have backups handy (like not buried in cases that have things stacked on top of them), and b) lately I've just been using a pair of 19" A Custom Medium Crashes instead of different sizes for each side, so that I can just bring out like 4 of them on tour and no matter which one cracks I have a backup.
As far as tempo, I'm pretty much the one guiding that during a show, because it would sound REAL BAD to have the rest of the guys try and make things faster or slower in the middle of a song and be fighting with my speed. There's no click track so we just feel things out as we're playing, but I do have a bit of everything in my monitors and I'm always trying to pay attention to the lead vocals. If things are way too fast then I would probably be able to tell and can ease up a bit so Jordan has more time to sing. Also, for songs that start with guitar, for the most part, Chad will just start those and his tempo is usually pretty good. We've been playing together so long that a lot of this stuff is automatic now.

Face to Face hi-hats........
I could never pull off Face to Face hats...on those old records, the way that the hats are constantly being played as 16th notes is crazy...that's like a recipe for an arm cramp almost immediately!
I remember as I first started playing drums and then hearing Face to Face, I was like, "there's no way I could ever do that." I'm sure it still wouldn't be easy (if at all possible) today.

The Face to Face songs I am referencing are from their first album. Songs such as "I Want" and "I'm Trying". Double chick to crash.
