Hey you inspired me to play drums cyrus bolooki and I like all your videos I like new found Glory yall my favorite band
Shitty rain storm last night here in l.a. but waking up for work so cold the sun comes out and I check utoob see this and now spirits lifted from awesome drumming thx 4 this
Interesting choice of a double kick beat during the chorus. I never noticed that before.
That's straight influenced by Ben Gillies from Silverchair. Listen to the songs "Tomorrow" and "Pure Massacre" and you'll hear a similar beat (albeit those two are in 4/4 and this song is in 6/8, or really slow 4/4), but you'll hear the double kick right before the snare like I do. Ben (and Silverchair) will always be one of my biggest influences as both a drummer and a musician when I was first getting into playing music. Ask anyone that knows me and they'll agree that I'm a HUGE Silverchair fan, and have been since '94!
@@CyrusBolooki Same man. I’m about to be 37 and those guys were huge. It blew my mind how young they were when Frogstomp came out. When I think of their drummer though, I never thought about the double kick. I do however think about something you do that you may have lifted from them.
In the song Tomorrow, it starts off very melodic, but when you hear ‘Hard to...’ and he smashes his kick and floor tom, I see you do that a lot. It puts balls to the end of a musical phrase that gives the song energy to move on. I’ll pay more attention to your double kick but those hard hits are similar to yours.
@@CyrusBolooki awesome! I was lucky enough to see them two times! I found "pure massacre" on some missunderstood song lyric website a while ago... featured as "peel my cigar"..HA! I saw you guys 4 times, always loved it! The first gig was at the Logo in Hamburg, Germany on your "Sticks and Stones" tour! cheers!
Yaaay, u kick ass ! 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

Was at this show!
Me too! 😬
Loving the Cyrus drum cams, but almost downvoted this one because I was waiting for that famous triplet role coming out of the bridge and I didn’t get it lol.
A custom in live.....make the job everytime
I agree 100%
The verses are in 6/8, right? Trying to find some songs played in that pattern currently
What determine when to use either in-ears or floor monitors? Stage size?
Stage size can come into play, because if we’re playing some super small venue where the walls are gonna be dripping from humidity and people are going to basically be on the stage the whole show, I’ll probably forego the in-ears. Also, if we’re flying in a for a show or festival, I usually nix the in-ears in favor of a faster (and easier) setup and performance.
But, that being said, I do love my in-ears, especially when the mix is right. Not only does it sound good (and in my opinion, can make you play better if you can hear what you want to hear), it can cut down on stage volume and (if used correctly) can also help prevent long-term hearing damage.
Most importantly for me and NFG is that we’ve always said that in-ears should never be something that we “have” to have in order to play. We don’t play to a click or with backing tracks, and we want to always remember that we started by playing small clubs, basements, etc, without any of this extra stuff, and we should always be able to just get up, plug in, and play, because nothing’s more frustrating than having a show come to a complete stop because some hard drive crashed or some mixer channel doesn’t work or something like that.
Hope that helps! Great question!
@@CyrusBolooki Your neatly explanation changed my concept and perception of how to use in-ears-monitors, depending of the environment. Thank for your time in your detailed explanation.
