my kid brain exploded when I found myself allied with the soldiers to fight a common enemy, the most badass way to end the game
this happened to me in Metal slug X, i tried to kill the rebel army before realising they were helping me

Usually in games, they Always say
"Here, have a gun, now shoot everything that moves while all your allies sit back and watch"
I swear this final mission feels like a whole new separate game of itself.
I mean half of this whole game is just this mission

@@user-nq2xc1ff9z playmore kinda wasn't ready to follow up snk's ms3 making ms4 being a disappointing. For ms5 they did a bit of originally and innovation to the game, tbh I really enjoyed the dash slide mechanics that they implemented sadly they removed it in ms6

For a lot of people, this mission is the one that made them realize: "Wait, you have INVENCIBILITY FRAMES when you jump on and out a vehicle????"
I think Metal Slug 4 is the only exception to that if memory serves
Not when you jump into, only when you jump out and the very short when the vehicle start up.
I don't know how this technicalities work but alright.
@@xavierjose1490 basically, when you get into vehicle it flashes for a brief moment during which it can't take damage.
Jumping into the vehicle is still considered a normal jump and you can still die. But the moment you actually land into the vehicle itself you'll be invincible for a brief moment. And if you jump out of a vehicle, you're invincible until you land.
You know it’s gonna be wild when in the first 10 minutes, you’re fighting both of the final bosses in the previous 2 games.
Now that you mentioned I didn't notice hahaha

MS3 would take a month of practice and considering how hard the 1CC Level-8 speed run is, I'd never be able to do it past Level-4.

Yeah ,it’s not 4K but there’s something about the pixels that makes it awesome
If you look closely at the bossfights they dont actually animate some of the movements, they just move the pixels around like how the youtube channel Dorkly makes animations, the animations of the soldiers and other things are still epic though
Not gonna lie,That first Morden soldier who called in the rest of the soldiers to advance & push forwards had to have been both a helluva pilot to make it on board,AND had to have some damn titanic titanium testicles to be the first man running into the line of alien fire
Still to this day, he is one of the badass characters in my book

No. The *WHOLE* Metal Slug is a masterpiece.
Back then i didnt realize that this whole thing is just 1 mission... Holy shit...
This is why 3 is and will always be the best. This mission literally blew me away. It felt like I lived through 12 campy, old sci-fi films at once.

This is why metal slug 3 is my favorite. It was so epic playing through this final mission for the first time.
Game came out when there was a lot of talk that SNK was done for.
To me, this game felt like:
“Okay, if SNK is over… we’re gonna shoot for the moon.” 🚀🚀🚀
just this one mission is almost as long as a whole metal slug game
The final mission should be split into 3 missions I think
First would be the plane fight the then the alien plane
Then the space shooter part would be the next
And the real final would be in the mother ship and rootmars and so on
I think the plane and spaceship levels can go together in one mission, and the spaceship invasion can be its own level.
Because Metal Slug 3 was the final game of the franchaise.
Back then, the devs decided to go out in a bang before going bankrupt.

It feels reeeeeeally awkward when 2 players play this mission. You know the part where the mushroom-like space squid manifested and kidnapped only one of the characters? Yeah, that one...
Didn’t notice what really happened to the clones when you killed them until later on...
I always use Eri so when i first played this part, i was saddened that she got kidnapped and is unplayable after that so i always intentionally die in that part to change character
@@Sam_Aconitum Yeah, I also prefer Eri than Fio. If you notice, If Eri was kidnapped and purposely let Tarma die, then chooses Marco, the ending would make perfect sense imo. And it's cute because if you know Eri's backstory, it's a character development.
It feels awkward how your partner gets kidnapped and the other is like "ok imma take a nap and then we head to space"
They can’t account for everything maybe if they do a rerelease of this game they can change it so that both players’ characters are captured and need rescuing
The fact that he had to die twice before the final mission was a massive flex.

Agreed, I never got to get a good look at it before. All of these enemies used for only the final mission have burning death variants, high quality sprite work and satisfying animation, and that’s a ton of details that may go unnoticed.

The introduction to a up-down galaga playstyle is what I loved about it.
I appreciate how much culture the creators have in animating the Fio Clone deaths. They’re like “enjoy the .5 seconds of Fio’s tits”.
They're re-used from Fio's death animations when getting hit by the slug/snail acid. Though weirdly, they censored the one that shows her butt.
Also I am pretty sure the arcade version showed the nipples too, I played in MAME years ago so my memory might be fuzzy

They cooked this level so hard but of course they put the special ingredient: Fio's death animation 😂
I always found it funny that in MS2 and MS3 when you have to defend earth from something more sinister (aliens and shit) it's almost always Rebel Morden Army who fight and sacrifice the hardest to defend it while the Regular army is only represented by your character/s, not like there are a mix of sprites or soldiers but only you and Rebels fighting together
The reason Rebel Army rebelled in the first place was the ineptitude of Regular Army in fending off bandit and terrorist attacks alongside corruption scandals. General Morden tolerated the corruption, until his kid became a victim of a terrorist attack. Apparently his cause got an international acclaim that he could consolidate armies from nearly every nation across the globe.
@@OverseerMoti Also, the Regular Army had to become what it was always supposed to be because Morden would have wiped them out otherwise.
In short, Morden has done a lot of good indirectly.
Best series of all time, really. Zombies, clothes melting, alliance with the modens, space, copies, zombified characters again as enemy. They all struck a massive hit on my child brain each turn
It always amuses me that Metal Slug is the same type of universe where you can have a fat guy, whos eaten too much on the battlefield, easily just waltz right into a alien mothership and kick some major ass
And the coolest, back then I remember it just so cool that you work together with your enemies again to fight alien again like in metal slug x

Also, it is hilarious how the game just took your character and said "fuck you, but we will give you another"

MS3 Final mission is like having 3-4 missions, you are dealing boss and Sub-bosses like:
Hairbuster Riberts
HI-DO
Rugname
Fake Rootmars
Clone Incubator
Real Rootmars
That's 6 bosses in total!
It feels like playing a bit of the previous games and that's only the first 2 phases.
Also notice that final bosses of the first and second games is here and on the same level. Metal Slug 3 is really meant for the original finale.
Anyone else feel the story line went off the rails and they just ran with it.
That would imply the story was ever on the rails.

@@SmumplytheF2P it's the coding. Game developers didn't expect you to let enemies shoot another enemies. This is also happened in MS4. Funny enough that MS3 wankers always use this excuse to hate MS4.

I stand by the idea that this is THE best level in a video game, ever. It tells an entire story without needing a single line of text or dialogue (Allen's taunts notwithstanding). It flows spectacularly. It keeps you guessing at where the end is. It constantly mixes up the gameplay. It puts you through amazing setpieces. It gives you the satisfaction of re-fighting iconic bosses of the series. And the music is just (chef's kiss).
Naked clone fio is the best part about this video😂😂

Memorizing patterns
I'll admit most of the boss patterns are really easy.
Especially Tetsyuki and the Hermit crab boss.
But most of them are quite tricky.

Fue un verdadero dolor de cabeza aprender todos los patrones de ataque de los enemigos y jefes así como descubrir todos los caminos secretos y como pasarlos sin morir, no fue hasta que después de cinco meses logre pasarlo con una sola moneda y sin morir ni una vez, recuerdo que nadie más lo logró, y me consideraban como el mejor jugador de metal slug de toda la zona

some rpg games may put me to sleep quickly in 30 mins or not even in one sit, but an arcade game like this would give you hype even you keep on dying. First time an arcade game gives me immersive experience, goosebumps, no lying
I love how when the 3 of mordens soldiers come and check if he’s alright but fake Morden turns into an alien and they just run away and don’t come back and help fio which is so hilarious because their mind is just like “fuck this shit I’m out” or “sorry your on your own fio” keep up the work banden! 😄

Idk man but it's kindda majestic that they created a final level so long, they build up this last boss into something so scary and powerfull so we as the player can feel how majestic it is.
I remembered broke my controller because how hard this level back in the day, and i was 10 back then

That mission is a hell of a challenge. I usually end up passing it with 3-5 deaths. Though I give ya heavy credit for carrying that spaceship as far as ya did o.o Mad respect there!

The beginning starts off so strong and hyped me up hard as a kid for what is arguably the best and hardest Metal Slug Level
I've never seen the timer get down to single digit seconds remaining. Especially since they're Metal Slug seconds, each ingame second lasts a couple seconds. That was incredible, doubly so during the final Rootmars fight.

I did play this numerous times on the arcade machine during my highschool days way back 2008. It's pretty intense and cool to find myself being surrounded by people while i beat the game with 1 token. 😅

my friends and i used to challenge ourselves in this mission because it's the longest one. the one who uses the most coins to continue will treat the group with snacks. the stage itself isn't too crazy like the other stages in metal slug where it's bullet hell. this one is just battle of patience.
This is by far my favorite mission of all the franchise.

Cruzar esto en las maquinitas sin duda era épico. Pero acababas sin varo, sudando y con la muñeca izquierda casi desprendida.
Sólo los jugadores más intensos, los más ricos y los chicleritos llegaban al final.
Es que no puedes comprar esto echo con criticidad con cualquier basura copia y pega que sale cada año

This mission demonstrates how video game design really peaked in this era in terms of pure fun creativity and artistry. To the extent that even the end credits are incredibly creative, gorgeous and just fun to watch.

It's the final boss' song for me. The perfect song for the final mission of a war videogame in which you have to save the world by yourself.
I was smiling through the whole video, remembering the joy and PAIN that i suffered through the whole franchise in PS2, i need to play them again
Such a great final mission, the subversion of expectation that it might end at the Morden fight.. but then it keeps going! It’s basically two missions in one. But the fact that it just keeps going is sooo fcking awesome!

La primera vez que jugué el juego era un niño, me emocione tanto que se me.erizo la piel, no podía creer que los buenos y malos se unieran para salvar a los que estaban secuestrados por los alíens hasta la fecha "kiss in the dark" sigue siendo el cancion favorita de MS
Yo vi a un tipo pasarla sin morir ni una vez en la máquina de fichas, me quedé sorprendido xd.
Al chile sí, mas si en esas mismas maquinitas hay KOF porque se cargan las palancas y los botones, en el 3 puedo pasar las 2 primeras misiones sin morir y haciendo uso de ruta difícil (en la misión 1 puedes llegar al boss con el supergrenade a 50 balas y la 2 es la cueva de los hombres de las nieves) pero luego de una semana ya no sirvio el salto :'v

To this day me and my homies play through MS 1,2 and 3 in any console. And 3 being our most favorite because its then we realised there is actually a story behind these games.
From the very beginning of the mission up to you getting into the Metal Slug after beating the final boss, you seem to have taken 28:13 to beat this mission. And you did it on your last or only life without any continues. Very impressive indeed.
