Валерий Степанов, прежде всего, реально показывает каким может и должна быть импровизационная музыка во втором десятилетии 21 века! К сожалению, очень немногие молодые музыканты ( и не только...), не ищут новые свежие идеи при исполнении импровизационной музыке. От этого эта музыка, априори неинтересна, вторична, и по сути импровизации по гармониям темы, долго, нужно НИ О ЧЁМ! А подчас, просто нафталин...

Dude!! :o I really love your rendition of Butterfly. The album Thrust is one of my favorite albums of Herbie. With your own style and effects you were able to capture the spirit of the original piece, I think. You also have a beautiful voice, which enhance the quality of the song. Finally thumbs up to your brother?nephew?cousin? Albert who seems to be on the right track to become a fine musician himself. Thanks for this wonderful moment. Jazz rules!
Меня всегда удивляет тот факт, что обязательно найдется какое-нибудь х..ло, как правило ничего из себя не представляющее, которое, вместо того, чтобы наслаждаться искусством и общаться с теми, кто это искусство понимает (слава Богу, такие еще есть), оно начинает пытаться всё мерить своими тупыми мерками - "У кого пиписка длиннее" (тип того).

@@rachidvanheyningen Collier is obviously a a talent from out of this world, too. But difficult to compare. Colliers musical talent is maybe a bit "broader", but Valeriy's is "deeper" and way more advanced. Oh and it looks to me like Stepanov is more of a perfectionist than Collier. Any performance I've seen of him is just musically more or less perfect. Colliers, not so much. Anyway, both deserve our tribute!

This has aged marvelously. Sounds as fresh as yesterday. Edit: I just spent the evening listening to this cover of Butterfly and it struck me. This is from 8 years ago and it is so well composed performed and recorded. Like everything Stepanov, it pushes the limits of what is possible when all the lights are lit in the human brain. Albert at 14 displays incredible competence and verve. Here he is doing a bass solo. ua-cam.com/video/akGG1IrG0Ys/v-deo.html. My point is, that the Stepanov catalog is becoming a legacy. In a couple years these two will do an Oscar winning movie score and everyone will be like "These guys, they are so new and good and nobody's heard of them".
Valeriy has the most musically diverse and creative heart I've ever heard in my lifetime. It never ceases to amaze me how the most brilliant are abandoned for the least.
