That’s because you’ve listened to R&R all your life and have not expanded your musical horizons!! If you have no clue then you are not an accomplished player!!!
I've been a drummer for 40 years, and I still am amazed by Weckl...Buddy Rich was my goat for most of my career, but Dave is the best, in my humble opinion..
I'm not saying Dave and John invented fusion, but Elektric Band really brought it to the forefront in the late 80's and early 90's. These guys are monsters and we should be happy to be in a world where they live and still create music.
Agreed. DEFINITELY one of the leaders, though. As a 'kid' I remember having Chic, Weather Report, etc in the old ugly cassette player in the car. Not exactly the Alpine/Dyne Audio/Morel/DSP system I have installed in the traveling car now. In fact, I'd be hard pressed to call them both by the same name, a car audio system. This one you can actually tell the difference between an oboe and a clarinet, VERY readily. :-)
Yet another master class in musicianship by Mr. Weckl and Mr. Patitucci. This is my first-time hearing Mr. Keivan and he is definitely on point. Oh well, time to go practice some more.
The guy just has everything. Superb technical ability. 4 way independence. Great touch. And his ideas...he never repeats himself except where the composition calls for it. Been a drummer all mu life and a jazz player for last 20 years. Never seen his kind before. Simply the best drummer in the world.
@@heathwilson7726 I think in a few years he'll hand the torch to Larnell Lewis. Other than that... Dave is kind of the only drummer were I personally cannot name someone better..
I don't get this thing about best drummer in the world. There are so many great artists, comparing them is pointless. Our preferences are only a matter of taste and colors.
@@ofdrumsandchords You're absolutely right! Art, including drumming, is deeply personal and subjective. Comparing artists often oversimplifies their unique contributions and styles. Music is about connection, and what resonates with one person might not with another. It's a celebration of diversity in skill and creativity, not a competition. 🎶
You're witnessing three exceptionally-talented musicians interacting like one cohesive unit. Each, in an of itself, a master class, a lifetime of analysis for an average musician to reverse-engineer. Tight. On-point. If if you look close enough, Dave actually adjust his snare drum in the middle of doing what most drummers could never come close to executing. Love the video, technically, too. Great birdseye views. Rare insights. What a gift to see this talent.
Stunning perfection... we all know Dave and John for many years, but Hami is new to me and just fantastic. In the music world this is what we would affectionately call, "Steely Dan level perfect"
In a world where everyone defines themselves as musicians with rhymes and "autotunes", seeing you play, with taste married to technique should be taken to measure for all those who define themselves between the lines as musicians! Thank you
I think John is officially the best bass player of both electric and stand up. I know there are guys just as good on stand up and just as good on electric but I dont know of any who can play both so equally amazing. The guy is a legend.
Wow... What a brilliant piece of music. Love it! Reminds me a bit of one of my favourite albums "Always" by Aziza Mustafa Zadeh. Also featuring Dave and John, but i think about 30 years ago. Boy, time is going by...
I think you can't play it better. All three are masters :-) Thx for sharing!!!!! Chapeau, Chapeau, Chapeau....Greetings from germany Christoph 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏
These guys are such Pros it's just unbelievable everything was precise and also the tune is has a lot of finesse fantastic tune also amazing musicianship. Really enjoy listening to this. Thanks for sharing the video
The jazz trio with piano, drums and 6 string electric bass is one of the greatest inventions of modern jazz. Michel Camillo, Hiromi, Aziza Mustafa Zadeh and now Hami all know the benefits of this choice. I`ve listened to this song over and over. Great work.
Great playing by all. They make it look so easy. Dave is his usual brilliant self and his drums and cymbals are always well tuned and chosen. Beyond that is Dave's vocabulary, which is a study in itself.
Love Dave Weckl's setup with the 2 16" Floor Toms. A great combination of the past & the present. Probably the closest thing to seeing Dave Weckl's from the 80s on Back to Basics, The Next Step & Buddy Rich Memorial 1989.
Dear Master Keivan, this was a banquet...main course served hot and tender, at the same time perfectly cut down to the bone (Master Patitucci is to thank four the perfect "fond"), and Master Weckl is a chef: perfect seasoning by the note
Simply Fantastic as ever when we see any presentation involving these two magnificent musicians, who in the past followed the great Chick Corea. About Mr. Keivan this is a completely new pianist to me, but as impressive as Chick.
I played drums for 20 years and still have no clue what Dave Weckl is doing. The man is an alien.
He is not an alien, you are just grasping the concept after 20 years.
That’s because you’ve listened to R&R all your life and have not expanded your musical horizons!! If you have no clue then you are not an accomplished player!!!
Dave has the most unique phrasing and vocabulary. Certainly my all time favorite...
what ? accomplished? simple is key at times@@sticktrik
He is indeed alien - Stopped off one day on Earth for a Pee and then felt sorry for the local drummers imho
Well. THAT was brilliant 🏆
👍🙂 "Beatdown"!!!
Top esse instrumental, músicos excelentes.
Great pianist!! Never heard of him before.
Fantastic piano
I've been a drummer for 40 years, and I still am amazed by Weckl...Buddy Rich was my goat for most of my career, but Dave is the best, in my humble opinion..
There’s levels to everything and this performance gives most musicians a taste of what the top tier sound like.
❤❤❤
This Life giving Musicianship. 🙌🏿
Greetings from Uganda 🇺🇬👊🏿🖤
They sound absolutely brilliant!

💯
Musicianship at its very finest!!! So inspiring, thanks guys!
my brain has melted. Such fine musicianship
What precision from all 🎉 Weckl is unreal

I can just keep watching this over and over again. Totally addicting!
Yet another master class in musicianship by Mr. Weckl and Mr. Patitucci. This is my first-time hearing Mr. Keivan and he is definitely on point. Oh well, time to go practice some more.
I grew up inspired by Dave and John This is some next level piece of art. I BOW

What amazing!
Superlative Trio .
Dave Weckl is simply astonishing ……….
Amazing, every drum, bass and piano note beautifully connected.
Très riche musicalement où chacun exprime son talent

Stunning perfection... we all know Dave and John for many years, but Hami is new to me and just fantastic. In the music world this is what we would affectionately call, "Steely Dan level perfect"
I could imagine Chick jamming along to that 👏
Great music! Definitely getting some Aziza Mustafa Zadeh "Always" vibes here ❤🙏
In a world where everyone defines themselves as musicians with rhymes and "autotunes", seeing you play, with taste married to technique should be taken to measure for all those who define themselves between the lines as musicians!
Thank you
Everything you could wish for in a for in couple of minutes free on youtube, there’s still hope
Such brilliant musicians! Fantastic stuff.

Boy, time is going by...
As a traditional grip drummer since 1965 till now at age 70. Never was a matched grip drummer. Your an inspiration to me. Thanks a million.
Wow. What a sound, what a groove and what a tasty composition tastily played. Bravo gents, yet again. It is a joy to live in your time.
killer. Dave is just nuts.
Weckl’s a MUTANT BEAST!!! 👍‼️
Ese dúo en la sección Patitucci-Weck por siempre: en cualquier época, con cualquier artista o proyecto. Los amo. Qué gran composición. 🙌
I think you can't play it better. All three are masters :-) Thx for sharing!!!!! Chapeau, Chapeau, Chapeau....Greetings from germany Christoph 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏
There's a recording studio full of some monster collective talent. Back 10 months later, and still lovin' it. The newest one is great, too.
Genial quelle musicalité, ont a affaire à trois virtuoses
Wow! I stumbled on this while watching another of Dave's videos. I could watch this for hours. Simply amazing!
Amazing! Peace from Detroit MI.

One of my favorites Dave.

Woohoo now that's awesome!
This is what happens when world-class musicians collaborate!!!! Impeccable!!!
Sin palabras !!!
As always from master musicians this is great!
It is always interesting to hear what happens when three masters get together on a hot tune.

Having W & P as your rhythm section is liking flying on the Concord.
I think I'm going to watch this performance a lot...a whole lot. Thanks for such an amazing musical experience!
Amazing . . Eventhough Uncle Dave is getting old but not with his groove 👍
Good to see Dave & John playing together again & of course Hami wasn't too shabby either 😁😁
