My little man hates me. He is getting better with me approaching his enclosure, but I can't handle him. 😢 1.5 years old , wild caught. How did you get yours so tame?
Mine was adopted, you can hear his story here: ua-cam.com/video/kKax0xtF_E4/v-deo.htmlsi=1p6W1PUoYwIhM_4Y He's always been super chill, he loves being help and crawling on people. Your's being wild caught is harder to tame and is still young, maybe with time it will get better!
I've only been bitten once and it was because I was wearing yellow nail polish (must have confused for fruit) and it didn't hurt at all. They are usually very peaceful. If they do get angry, they will puff up and whip you with their tail. Overall, none of their defence mechanisms would cause serious damage to us. In terms of pricing, from what i've seen on the internet, they cane be quite expensive (depending on the species).
It's not a matter of "not supposed to". When used incorrectly, sand substrate can be dangerous. But if you provide a clean slate or bowl for eating, there will be no chances of impaction. Since uromastyxs like to dig, this is the preferred substrate. It also mimics their natural habitat.
Just like saying a dog isn’t suppose to be indoors as well when they originated from the wild. Do research before trying to criticize someone that knows their hobby.
