Great video! My 34 y/o ole lady use to eat plenty of insects as a juvenile but be sure to gut load those. And yeah, she hates the powder lol. I sprinkle some of the dandelions flowers and she can care less. Subbed👍🏽!
Thank you! Yeah man it must be a plant where there from that’s poison or something cause even my captive bred ones already see powder on the greens and are like na lol
Great feeding guide. Dandelion greens are definitely a must have favorite staple green for uros and it's frustrating we can't seem to get them I've heard in the UK it's easier but I just sourced them from wild grown areas that aren't sprayed and fed to my bearded dragon and uro. They keep well in the fridge for a couple weeks and I just get a bunch wash and dry well. I've never tried freezing them but I bet that could work as well.
Make sure he’s hydrated also you may have to get him dewormed at the vet that could be an issue. But I would see if he’s interested in some super worms or lentils
No way! Learn something new everyday hahaha. Well I meant stuff like blueberries and strawberries the stuff you normally think of when you think of fruits haha. Thanks for teaching me something
for the greens, i usually get them out of my fridge and spray with water. Do you do that as well? recently seeing my Uromastyx having running stool, not sure if that could contribute to the cause....
Yes I do spray it with water as well darn forgot to mention that. I don’t do it all the time but it will definitely cause huge excess water in his stool lol
Any suggestions on how to help a possibly paralysed uro eat more easily? One of my guys recently ended up with mobility issues, and he has a frustrating tendency to ignore his greens and squash for the half teaspoon of dried millet and sprouted lentils offered twice a week as a food topper. Both my guys tend to enjoy flowers, timothy hay, been pollen, and chopped cactus as appetite stimulants, but the mobility-challenged one is now less confident about eating from his food bowl and given how messy uros can be when eating, I'd rather not have there be a risk of him eating the substrate if he flings his salad around.
@@ChiefSweetsUniverseI have! He's shy about it but he'll eat (slowly) from my hand. I've resorted to doing so to help monitor his food intake, it's just kind of unfortunate to see since he's trying really hard but his legs just aren't cooperating to let him approach food easily otherwise except for when I put food onto a big tile on the enclosure floor for him to eat (he can drag himself around but the substrate is crushed gravel, dirt, and fine sand, so I'm trying to limit his potential for scraping his underside if I can help it).
I just got myself a little guy, and over the last week, we've tried everything but cant get them to eat. Romaine, lentils, weve even tried force feeding with a dental syringe but their mouth is so small we dont want to hurt them and dont try too hard.
Sometimes they are often very dehydrated because most places lack improper care or are wildcaught and just got in so they are even more dehydrated and doing bad. I would suggest try the dental syringe with water and drip it around his nose or in front of them make a puddle almost. Hydration is key then once hydrated up they should get hunger back
you mentioned osiris that you got from an expo. how did you manage to bring him back to health?? i recently got a lil guy from a VERY bad situation and he just will not eat and looks very similar to the day 1 picture you posted…
I have a method I talk about in my uromastyx care guide. But I make sure the air temps are around 85f throughout the entire cage. I have the basking spot at 125f however they are usually extremely dehydrated so I will force small amounts of water in there mouth with some critical care herbivore. I’ll make a whole video about it.
Good morning, My uro refuses to eat anything that is green. He only wants to eat seeds, dandelions and sprouted lentils. I'm afraid he'll become dehydrated with that. How can I get him to eat green foods that will give him the water he needs?
You could offer him water and drop some water around him see if he’s interested. Romaine is the best cause they usually do love romaine and it’s like 90% water. Mealworms are pretty moist as well as a last alternative
Thank you very much for your advice. He never wanted romaine salad but I put out a bowl of water and he drank for a little while. In your opinion should I leave the bowl of water all the time without risking an infection or something else?
If he’s eating the substrate I would recommend checking uvb and upping vitamin and calcium supplements. They only do that when they are super deficient in vitamins or calcium
@@ChiefSweetsUniverse Thank you, I'll definitely consider vitamins and calcium supplement in her meals from now on and see if she still eats the rocks
I tried feeding my uro super worms. He seemed a little interested but he just licked it with his tongue. I put them in his feeding bowl with mixed greens and lentils. He loves the lentils/greens more than anything. Any tips on trying to get him to eat any insects to put on a little size?
I only do a few lentils once a week though. I’m unsure if giving him lentils more frequently would help. I’ve also started the calcium powder on his greens and he eats it. Thanks my friend.

Meal worms and dandelions were a favorite snack for mine
They love mealworms. Its like crack

Thank you! I know right I also do that but since dandelions are seasonal my uros only get wild dandelions outside during spring
just got one today he’s yellow and soooo cute
Congrats! I love the yellows have a lot myself!
Thank you so much definitely needed this
Happy to help!

Can they eat moringa leaves?
Yes!
Stater Brothers has dandelions green s
My local walmart. And giant eagle have all the greens
Love to hear that!
Hey what's up man..My uro is super skinny, what do you recommend for daily feeding to beef him up?

How do you feel about Exo Terra vitamins and calcium? In Thailand we have fewer options for things.
Yeah those will work.
"No fruits!"
Immediately afterwards: "Acorn squash"
Ummm... That's a fruit lol

Just wondering again sorry to bother, but my bearded dragon doesn’t hide when he sleeps he just chills out and sleeps on the open is this normal?
Yes very normal no worries. In the wild they will sleep on tree branches too. It’s due to snakes on the ground that will eat them.
I have Sinai uromatyx I need to know what kind of food could fertile to let them married
Do you use an automatic thermostat?
What's the temperature?
I do use an automatic thermostat. The temp it shuts off at is 125f

Do you do the same type of sprouts for your bearded dragons too?
Not really I just feed the dragons regular greens like collards and turnip greens
so do I feed one type of veggie each day? so like, mustard green on monday, and kale on tuesday, ect?
Exactly switch it up daily.
@@ChiefSweetsUniverse Thank you very much! this really helped :)
Can grass work for bio as well?
Yeah you can use tortoise table website they will show safe grasses to use. Even though it’s for tortoise it translates to lizards who eat plants
I found dandelion greens at whole foods
Nice!
I was actually able to find dandelion seeds commercially (I think it was Etsy but don't quote me) and I am now growing my own :)

If he’s not interested that’s perfectly fine! Continue with the mixed greens

As a treat the sprouted lentils would be ok.

Not at all. I have a few that have never ate insects ever. They will do fine without them but if you do just know that you can in small amounts
(FIRST) what time should I shut my bearded dragons light. Turned it on at 8 shut it off at 8?
Yup! I do a 12 hour light cycle myself
