@KendallGray1 I would personally recommend maybe relocating the entire chicken coop location. You have it kind of tucked away back against the tree line. And I’ve lived it and done it, and you will never beat the predators.. you have to put the coop in more of a secluded location but more in the open and as close as possible to a structure or home. Key is to avoid trees as much as possible. Predators use trees to their advantage and live within the trees. There are more predators than you have chickens or can protect chickens so as I said, it’s a never-ending battle unless you have fully confined chickens. God bless I pray that one day you can keep your chickens happy and healthy with long lives.

But I did successfully raise 127 chickens just this year and I have owned a laying flock of 25+ for the last four years of my life and I am 28 years old and own land and a home with deed in hand. so I think I’m doing somthin right. I do follow Jesus and seek him on a daily. And I don’t go around belittling people and criticizing them for the things they say. I was merely just putting an input out there Trying to possibly help Kendall or anyone else, expressing the experience I have lived on this earth. But god bless you sir I meant no disrespect to you or anyone else.

I learned this the hard way too! Had just let the chickens out of the coop in the morning in broad daylight and went back to the house. Suddenly I see a few chickens out my living room window!! I run to the coop at the bottom of a small hill near our woods and all the chickens are dead. Those three had escaped. No issues for years before this event until we set up the coop near the woods. Also, chicken wire won't stop anything. I noticed you also had regular farm fencing which is good, but predators will burrow under the fencing too. So sad you lost all your birds. Hope you nail those critters and are able to set up a new and better coop and fencing to protect those lovely birds!! I miss having chickens.

I used to raise chickens as a boy. Raccoons and Foxes will take off with a chicken for food and do it right under your nose too. But, they will do it on an as-needed basis for food. Ditto for hawks, owls and other birds of prey. They all snatch a hen then run off with it. What they won't do is wantonly kill dozens of chickens and leave them laying. So, what predator kills not to eat, but just for the sake of killing? I only know of one... a cat. Even a domesticated cat that is well-fed but left outdoors much of the time is estimated to kill 700 other animals in the course of a year. If cat owners suddenly became tiny, their cats would kill them too. Do you have outdoor cats? Neighbors? Seen outdoor cats in the area?
I grew up in a farm we had cows pigs chickens and my dad once got the chance to get rid of a lot of foxes and once a chicken attacked my grandmother later there was some polish chicken soup that was the best I ever had Im polish btw

A peacock in America has to be locked up safe and sound at night and during work time.
