    I’m seeing a lot of confirmation bias in the comments. Does it sound like the Shure SM7B out of the box? No but it’s so close that your average person won’t even know the difference. But then again most people can’t tell the difference anyway. Now after it’s processed, I think the differences are negligible at best. The MV7+ does sound more like the SM7B than the original MV7.
    A lot of folks still gatekeep on microphones. The idea that you HAVE to have an SM7B is ridiculous and if you’re giving people a hard time for not having one then you’re even more ridiculous.

    Excellent review! I don't know about the new MV7+, it does sound warmer but bordering on muddled. Not sure if that can be DSP'd away on the usb interface. The SM7B and MV7X sounded the best on the Apple ear phones I'm using. I can't imagine how the MVX7+ would sound with the bass heavy boomy headphones people like using these days.

    Shure MV7+ sound great. XLR mode sounds pretty good. Do you use an cloud-lifter? It's one of the three final microphones I've on my list (which one to get, Samson Q9U & Maono PD400X). Since it has USB-C to USB-C cable, I wonder if the mic can use USB-C to USB-A cable. Great walkthrough video on Shure MV7+, Dealcaster.

    • @Dealcasters
      @Dealcasters  10 днів тому +1

      Yes, you can use a Cloudlifter if you’d like to. We almost always recommend using one for dynamic XLR mics for additional clean gain, even in this case the MV7+ doesn’t “need” it. It sounds really great without a Cloudlifter too. I just used it with a USB-c to USB-a cable so you should be fine there as well. Hope this helps!

    • @Dealcasters

      Because the MV7+ is MFi certified, if you have a USB-C iPad or iPhone, it will work with a USB-C cable connected to both. I heard from some people that the new Mv7+ on usb sounds worse compared to the old MV7 on usb, but overall better on xlr, can it be possible? I want to buy it but the thing is, if I buy the MV7+ ill use it on usb only so if the older Mv7 sound better would be a problem for me, i don't rlly care about xlr otherwise I would just buy the Mv7x with an audio interface, great comparison btw!

      The MV7+ is a notch above the MV7 in USB sound, especially when you are able to dial it in so well with the Motiv Mix software. We are shocked how good a usb mic can sound. We do compare the two mics on this video, but via XLR. We plan to do a head-to-head USB faceoff soon!

    Thanks for the review. Can you still mute the mic from the mic itself like you can with the MV7. Also do things like the pop blocker and the denoiser persist on the mic so if you move it to a computer without the app installed those effects still work (similiar again to the MV7 - the settings are saved to the mic)? Thanks

    • @Dealcasters
      @Dealcasters  5 місяців тому +3

      Great questions! YES - you can see in the video a few times we demonstrate the one-touch mute function, which is MUCH easier to lightly tap the light bar, as opposed to having to look and find the little mute icon on the MV7. As for your second question, we will need to test and see if the settings you make in the MOTIV Mix software (denoiser, popper stopper, etc) "move" with the mic when you use it on another computer not using MOTIV Mix. We will test, and either do another video here on the channel and/or reply here to your question. Thanks again for watching!

    • @SR-mm2wz
      @SR-mm2wz 5 місяців тому +1

      @@Dealcasters thanks - can’t believe I missed you muting it as I watched the whole video twice lol. I must have been distracted both times at the moments it was happening. Thanks for taking the time to reply. I like to use my mics with work computers that don’t allow any additional software to be used. I had favoured the Rode PodMic USB as I could set up a decent noise gate on my Mac and then transfer that mic to the work laptop. I previously had an MV7 and loved the auto level functionality especially the far mode. It looks as if far mode had gone now and it’s all lumped into one auto level. That’s interesting as before the far mode sounded like it had more gain than the gain maxed out on manual mode. I sold the MV7 as Rode’s noise gate was so helpful, but now with the denoiser (which I understand is different than a gate) I’m thinking of going back to the MV7+.

    • @Dealcasters
      @Dealcasters  5 місяців тому +1

      @@SR-mm2wz Awesome - thanks for explaining your situation! You can dial in the gain, to get yourself even more attenuated than just "Near/Far" if that helps you. The software situation you have is a good use case for a future video. Keep you posted!

    • @Dealcasters
      @Dealcasters  4 місяці тому

      In order to use some of the functions of the mic, you'd need to download Motiv Mix in order to do that. There are some stock automatic settings in there already you can start from, and once they are set - you can just use the mic as is and those settings will remain "in the mic" until you want to adjust them again with the Motiv Mix software. The reverb is accessible via the Motiv Mix software. You would need to have anything you want added into Shure MOTIV Mix be an actual sound source that your computer recognizes. So, in the case of a browser, no. If you create a virtual device - you should be able to add that to MOTIV Mix as a sound source and mix that with your Shure Mic. You would then need to bring MOTIV Mix as your sound source, so everything playing in MOTIV Mix is your mic input.
